Thank You EVERYONE For Your Support
Hi Mates.
Well my day has finally arrived. (Mothers Day of all days too).
At 16:00hrs EST today I go into hospital to be prepped, prodded, scanned, x-rayed and whatever other tests they're wanting to do, in preparation for my lung cancer removal surgery tomorrow morning. The surgeons will be removing my upper, and remaining lobe, from what was once left of my right lung.
Things, or life as I should call it, has been slightly tough this week. Reality of my situation hitting home when I was least expecting it brought more than just a few growls and screams at the night skies.
But..... over the past few weeks as I've gone through my radiotherapy treatments and had more blood drawn from me than Dracula could consume at a banquet sitting, I have been supported day by day by MY Baby Darling, my wonderful wife. My wife is a Crisis Care Nurse, and deals with the severity that cancer can do to the human body and also has to deal with her patients family, friends and loved ones on a daily basis too.
But when it's one of your own, it's different.
MY Baby Darling has been AWESOME. She has been the tower of strength and support that I SHOULD have been, and has never once not been there for me.
And neither has so many of my Mates here on Eroids either. YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE. We have spoken MANY times over the past few weeks. We have shared many PM's between each other. You have allowed me to vent whenever I've needed to. And you have helped to raise my spirit up with your kind words, your genuine support, your offers of help during my recovery, your best wishes and your humbling prayers.
I went to church this morning to offer prayers of my own. And to give thanks for each and everyone of you who have been the bedrock of keeping me up and not allowing me to slide down. I DON'T usually go to church, so I didn't have the first clue what I was supposed to do or say. So I just kept it simple. I gave thanks for MY Baby Darling, for my children and my family and asked the good Lord to watch over them until I can do so again. Then I added an extra prayer. "And I'd also like to give thanks to my Eroids Family of Mates and ask you to watch over them too. They're some of the BEST Ladies and Gents ANYONE could ever want to know".
I didn't know how else to give thanks to you all, that would mean so much to me.
So, from ME to YOU, THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR EVERYTHING YOU HAVE DONE FOR ME THESE PAST FEW WEEKS. YOUR SUPPORT, BEST WISHES AND OFFERS OF PRAYERS HAVE HUMBLED THIS USUALLY GRANITE HARD HEART OF MINE. WHATEVER THE OUTCOME OF MY SURGERY IS TO BE, I WILL NEVER FORGET YOUR TRUE KINDNESS WHEN I NEEDED LIFTING UP THE MOST.
THANK YOU.
To my dear wife, I love you MY Baby Darling.
Keep lifting the iron my Brothers and Sisters, and if you can spare it, push one more rep for your Mate, will you?

Hi All.
Finally got released from the hospital today. Been a bit of a ride with my recovery since my surgery and having a stroke a few hours after coming home off my surgery. If I'm honest I wasn't really feeling great when I was initially released. Just felt really slow in my actions, but I just put it down to the meds and the after effects of the surgery. Then one of my seizures hit me for six on the evening of my release and with the lack of oxygen being circulated around my system and to the brain, I had a stroke. Something about my body trying to overcompensate and protect itself after the seizure sent my body into overload and down I went.
I initially lost all feeling and control down my left side of my body and partial use from the waist down. I have since recovered the full use of my legs and have 90% ish feeling back in my upper left side. I can sort of feel my left arm and hand but at times it feels like I have a cloth or towel laying on top of it and makes it feel like its being tickled. I can use the arm and hand, but I cant trust it to do what I want it to do on its own. I really have to concentrate on what I'm doing with it.
I have recovered well from surgery. The scars have sent me into overdrive with the itching but they have healed nicely again. I've been a bit of a d**k in my recovery. Being a little bit stubborn, so to speak. Not listening to limitations, just to prove a point. But with the doctors trying to tell me what I can and what I can't expect to do with my body anymore, (Yeah, right. Proved them wrong on more than just a few occasions), being told to accept the norm is just, not normal practice. (LOL). Granted, I may not be 100%, but I don't care what the doctors say, I WILL GET THERE.
But it is AWESOME to be back home again. I know I have to take things easy for the next few weeks/months or so, but just to whined the Mrs up I have already asked her when is she taking me to the gym for my first Chest Workout. The look and the silence in her response told me my joke was really NOT a good one. (LOLOL).
I would just like to add, AND THIS IS FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART, thank you ALL so much for your support, your prayers and your best wishes. I TRULY have appreciated receiving them.
It is good to hear from you and that you are on the mend, even if it has been a smooth trip. Keep getting well brother.

Hi All.
I FINALLY got released from hospital yesterday and because of all these FANTASTIC comments I thought I'd drop by to update everyone and say, "THANK YOU EVERYONE".
I admit I'm feeling a little more winded at times, but at least I'm alive
Everything went as expected with my surgery, I now only have one full left lung remaining. Unfortunately, because the left lung only has two lobes to it, just like everyone elses, my oxygen intake has been obviously been DRAMATICALLY reduced. Something I am having to learn to deal with.
I had 4 LARGE oxygen tanks delivered yesterday, curtsey of Crisis Care America, who my Mrs works for, and a brand new portable unit I can use whenever I leave the home to replace my old one. All FREE of charge.
All I have to do now is get up. Get back up so everyone around me stops looking at me with sad puppy dog eyes. They're driving me NUTS!!! (LOL)
So from me and mine please accept my very best regards to you and yours and a HUGE thank you again for all of your support.
Your Mate.
Don't get up too fast, healing takes time. Glad it went well, good luck with a speedy recovery.
