Teens and Gear

ad

Hi y'all, recently I helped train a 17 year old from my gym for his first classic physique show. I spotted this kid and saw that he had incredible genes so I paid him some honest compliments which gave him confidence and motivated him to do a show. He trained like a beast went from 210 to 176 (day of show) looked amazing and trust me I know what amazing looks like. I was 100% convinced he would win the teen class hands down. Day of the show he takes second, the 19 year old he looses to clearly was juicing and although Jay was bigger than the 19 year old and in as good if not better condition he still lost. Looking around day of the show nearly everyone was juicing, men, women and kids. Jay shows me pics and says look at this guy, in my mind I think I'm looking at a 30 to 35 year old but it turns out to be a 15 year old or an 18 year old, I'm like WHAT?? it blows my mind. I don't know how all these teens are using gear what is going on.

Jay is lock, step & barrel, balls to the wall ready for his next show in Jan and of course he wants to use gear now because he feels he needs it to win and he wants to go pro one day and with his genetics I do believe its possible. I am of course against him using gear so young but I know he'll get it somehow regardless nonetheless I have to wonder how did things come to this that teens as young as 15 are using gear and already need it to be competitive. How and when did this become acceptable and considered normal?

Theres nothing new about teenagers useing steroids. They dont think long term at that age. Its unfortunate.

I don't remember teens using steroids when I grew up or even 15 years but I agree teens don't think long term

I went to schools in a couple of states middle school in Florida 3000 plus kids. Kids that were playing sports were juicing at 13 and 14 and not just a small group a lot were that was in the 90s and high school in a small town in Colorado 400 kids and most in sport were on. So I don’t think it more kids it’s just more in your face with social media and more kids competing

I was school in the late 1980's and everyone was "on",not very smart about it either.Mostly orals and the toxic shit too.My school had several guys with 400lb benches and a few with 1000 lb leg presses at 16 and 17.Shortly after gear became hard to get,and most of the guys got fat.Funny how that happens when you mess up you axis at a young age.I never ever heard of guys doing pct,in fact I once had some guy give me some HCG because he had no idea what it was.

I was in school in the late 80's too and I just don't remember the guys juicing...maybe I didn't pay attention to the high school guys back then nor had I joined a gym yet. The pics I see of these 15, 16 year olds are just insane how big they are

The truth is that most weren't built like the juice kids of today. For one we actually cycled off.I was involved in sports, and juice was easier to get than a protein powder that tasted good.

is that bec we have drugs like Tren now and harder compounds or is it social media? I mean now kids can see people from all around the world at a click of a key. When I was at the show I saw big Ramy up close OMG guys Is so effing huge juiced to the max looks like a freak idk how any woman could find that attractive but seemed like a really nice guy and from I understand he's pretty young

Manshit's picture

The drugs are just easier to get and you have guys like Boston loyd telling kids to take everything ,all year round. The teen cruiser was not a thing when I was young.

With the rise of social media and how widely and easily available it is to obtain, let alone how cheap it is to run a simple cycle.

I remember back when I used to go to big box gyms I’d constantly hear kids still in high school taking about stacking prohormones and Orals for weeks on end.... and it’s quite common because I used to do the same in high school...

Needless to say they and I looked like shit for all that we were taking because while drugs are common place, the knowledge of dieting right and training are the magical unicorns that seem to elude most of the young people.

well from what I've seen first hand MANY of them don't look like shit they look great like grown men! What's sad is the kid I was training looks unbelievable he's got natural genes like Arnold yet its not enough. You have to wonder want kind of impact is this going to have on them long term; can you really use gear for the rest of your life?

"can you really use gear for the rest of your life?" - Start too early in life and use them long enough, you wont have a choice anymore.

From my experience, the young kids running the amounts of hormones and anabolic they look like dogshit to how they should look. I’ve met kids who were running mtren stacks and weren’t anywhere near sub 10% BF, giving no regard to toxicity or any of the negatives with gear use. Their diets were shit, and they relied on the magic “take this pill for results” instead of getting basics down. Humans have always gone for the quick fix and magic pill solution, but it’s just that much easier to access it now which is why you may see it more often.

If your kid has amazing genetics, steer him right as Makwa said. Have him compete naturally, have him develop to his absolute maximum natural potential, because should he choose to run gear at some point, it will take him that much further beyond his limit than if he starts now and shortchanges himself.

And as has been said, none of them are thinking long term. They’re thinking in the here and now. All of them think TRT can’t happen to them and that they’re going to be superstar bodybuilders, yet burn out and stop by the time their early to mid 20s roll about. I remember I ended up changing what career path I was going to take too many times to count by the time I settled into it, and I was barely able to legally drink when I did.

I'm going to let him read this and everyone's comments. I 100% believe he should wait a bit before using gear and get a stronger foundation but I know he's going to want to run something before his next show so I may agree to anavar and monitor him as you all recommend. He is friends with a 30 year old guy at the gym who wants to put him on all kinds of shit I was like wtf no way! oh and yes I have stressed to him the sides of these drugs and the negatives but I'm being undermined by this other idiot who blows so much smoke up his ass. One thing I will say is he listens to me when it comes to diet and his diet is on point and that's why he looked so damn good for his first show. These kids are clueless about diet and even how to train and like most people just want that magic pill. Thanks for your input much appreciated Smile

The Impastable's picture

If he doesn’t listen you can give him my address and he can come by once a week to pin my fluffy white ass! We’ll see how long that lasts!

Most guys/girls who compete are not into it for the rest of their lives. It just becomes part of their bucket list - so they can say years later: "Yeah, I competed and here's the selfies to prove it."

Your guy might have the right stuff, but it's a different world - one where you always need an edge to win. So, if he goes on gear to get that edge - be there for him, advise and monitor so that he doesn't go overboard. He's going to use whether you like/approve it or not. You can't put an old head on young shoulders - so your dire stories won't have the effect that you might expect.

In few years he will probably move onto something else...most do.
