+ 3 Stop using lifting straps!!!
ad
Ok folks .. for all of you that's using lifting straps to aid in your lifts your only hurting yourself . By using these your only making your grip strength weaker it's a fact . Your not doing yourself any favors by using them, put them away if your not strong enough to lift the weight with your bare hands then lower the weight !!

Yeah it's no fun bruv. Sometimes my wrists feel like they're on fire even after the surgeries.
Apparently I'm not at surgery stage to which I replied....you try doing my job with this and he just shrugged his shoulders
Injurys are a different animal at that point dovwgat you gotta due
With that being said, I would like to ask your opinions on the use of knee wraps. It is a 50/50 topic with those in my local circle. I ask this question to as many people as I can. Before I get into why I bring this up I am interested as to what you guys have to say.
I have bad knees and when I compete I wrap them heavy... but everyday gym use go for it if it give your knee more stability and protection
Thanks for taking the time to respond so quickly, much appreciated. I have bad knees as well. I would like to go more in depth on this topic tomorrow if you would. 5am for work is approaching fast.
We shall
I would never rely on straps at the gym. But some exercises I do use them on and I find it very effective. Yes I'm concerned with strengthening my grip of course, but I feel that developing my back muscles is more important. But what it comes down to for me is, I've broken two bones in my left hand and both of my thumbs. So I would really be restricting my lifts if I didn't use straps on certain things.
Now in your case with injury I would concede and say your correct ..
I do some sets with straps and some without. I'd be cheating my back out of a good workout if I didn't use straps sometimes, but I'd be cheathng my forearms and grip out of a good workout if I used them all the time. Using straps with something like barbell rows really lets you focus hard on the mind muscle connection. But they're not necessary for all back exercises.
You know it's amazing the lack of quality forums on here anymore .. it's filled with crybaby bull shit about packs and stupid shit!! What happened to the real talk we once had here , I take some blame in it but the lack of older members participating and the wealth of knowledge that's missing is saddening ... the discussions that caytalist and Viking and rusty you me pmob pale rider zeb and .lots of other guys to. It's a shame with what we have now
I was just thinking about that the other day, threads going back and forth everyone learning something new, contemplating different methods, Viking schooling us with his decades of experience. Ya now it's just "help pct for my cycle" or some other crap. I love to learn, always have. Love to talk training dieting gear etc got no one in real life to converse with so it was nice when we were all contributing. Don't get to do much as learning on here anymore as I'd like unless I pm some people. Miss the old days
I've used them before but realized my grip strength was way under developed.. now I can crush grapes with my hands lol
I was raised on a farm and everyday after school I would come home to my chores I had to do and one of those was to split wood, day in and day out...
I had double bit ax, a bunch of wedges and sledge hammers.......
I think this is what made me thick in the upper body.... It was hard but again it was a simple life compared to today....
That will make a man out of you
TryHarder007I do use straps to aid in rack pulls and barbell rows since my back handles more than my grip BUT I do say that twice a week ill grab (without straps) some heavy dumbbells and do some farmers walks to help my grip
That's a problem tho, you need to bring your grip strength up to match it
