Need some other high dense calorie foods.

ad

I just recently started a bulking cycle. Test, Deca, Dbol. Hgh and proviron. So my first month my weight jumped up pretty quickly. I went from 218 to 235. And that' with eating about 4500 call a day, and pretty clean. I've come to a halt though. I'm done with the Dbol and the Deca is gona start kicking in. So I think I need to eat some more cals. Problem is with the diet I've been doing ,it isn't working in gaining anymore weight. I can't eat dairy so that's not an option. I need some ideas on some calorie packed foods that I can take in. It is a pain in the ass eating clean all day.

Couple of thoughts... 218 to 235 in 1 month.. thats not muscle. Maybe some muscle... a very small amount though. We are talking glycogen and water for the most part.
Dbol doesnt build muscle to any great extent... butbdrives weight up
6.1 at 220 or whatever. ... 4500 is way, way over what you need at the start point of a bulk. Just tends over time to not provide the wiggle room to up by 500 cals a time when you hit food plateaus
Dirty bulk... nonsenae as it adds zero benefits, only more water retention and fat accumulation (it will createbthe perfect hormonal environment for fat storage in a caloric excess if susceptible.... in fact youd prob have to be slightly hyperT to avoid it [i.e. with an elevated baseline metabolism] ). It truly offers zero value to what you are trying to achieve. Rather than use sh1tty processed foods to up cals which are likely too high a bit anyway, youd be bestter served resetting to baseline cals and then upping by 500 or 750.
Deca 'kicks in' immediately. So whatever youre thinking /experiencing is flawed in this regard.

It strikes me youre caught in the trap of looking at the scales as your barometer for success. If you want to inspect what you expect, then try do it the right way.... once a week only use 4 types of measurement -> 1. take a fat calipers (3 point will do if youre flying solo)... 2. tape measure calves thighs, waist at bellybutton, chest, arms (flat by your side and not flexed) neck but dont let traps in, so around adams apple. 3. Importantly, use scales after watered and emptied in the a.m. to avoid fully the p.m. bloat from carbs, and to incorporate the metabolic flushing that an upregulated metabolism will push overnight (sweats) for real weight measurement. 4. Also use mirrors, in the am again.... for true look at how the abs nips are etc to see water and fat or loss. Scales on its own is useless. Mirror in the pm is useless. Looking at your wonderful pump after a workout is also useless..... in terms of understanding real progression.

Real muscle will accumulate quite slowly. Focus on real gains and not the ego-driven measurement that we all, thelot of us, are prone to focusing on.

Well what are you eating now?

bigjrock's picture

I eat six meals. 2 are steak and potatoes 2 are chicken and rice, one other one is ground turkey and pasta and breakfast is 8 egg whites 2 whole eggs and 5 packs of cream of wheat. Then I have a pwo shake also. I'm currently 238 and have hit a plateau. All my food is pretty clean. On the weekends I switch up breakfast to four bacon and egg bagels and I'll switch foods around when I eat out.

I go-to Costco so I would say I save a little bit by buying in bulk. I get all my meat there and buy my carbs at Publix, and grits or cream of wheat. So at Costco I spend about $150.00 and Publix about $30.00 bucks on rice and other carbs. Money on food isn't that bad. I always had a pretty fast metabolism but it's slowed down a little as I got older.

Some times you need to take a step back and be honest with yourself bro, are you really eating 4,500 calories a day?

It's hard work shovelling 4,500 calories down your neck, let alone "pretty clean" ones.

Drop-set's picture

Too bad you can't eat dairy. One true-moo chocolate pint has 440 calories. I drank two a day when I was bulking...easy 880 calories.

Canned chicken and rice between meals. Train less for gains, 3 maybe 4x a week. I would make one of those days strictly legs, lift heavy.

Hello Sir,

As you know our sport is not a sprint but more like a marathon. Rapid weight gain in not necessarily always a good outcome in what we do. In your case it more likely caused by the specific compounds and combination of these compounds. As you probably already know majority of this rapidly gained weight is more likely water retention, some percent muscles and fat too unfortunately. And even though you mentioned that fat gain is not an issue I can assure you that big part of your hard gained muscles mass will go while trying to get rid of that fat.
So I assume you are getting 4500 kcal from real food, why not to supplement your diet with an extra protein shake to increase total calorie intake? That would give you an extra 200-300 calories that is just right to make a progress and not gain fat?

Regards

Consider dropping your training from six to four days a week. Less time in the gym means more time growing and you’ll be fresher for your workouts with more time to recover. You’d be surprised what an extra two workouts worth of calories can do to help you add some mass.

Yes I agree. Throw some ideas at me?

How many days are you training and for how long?

I train for six days out of the week and depending on body part. An hour to an hour and a half. I feel great. I just need to eat more though. I'm not worried about fat gain at all. Fats easy to lose to me. My issue in my life has been weight gain. I always thought I would never break through the pleteaus but I have. So now I'm roughly 235 to 237ish. I have eight weeks left and I want to try to shoot for 250 realistically.

Too many days and too much time in the gym bro. You're swimming against the tide. Drop it to 4 days and 45-60min sessions focusing on compond lifts. Your strength will shoot up and you will make gains. It's a mentality you need to break.

I agree 100%. Funny story, at our old gym where I lifted for seven years I mostly worked out 5-6 days per week. Sure I got big, but after we left that gym I dropped to four days a week and jumped up another ten pounds. Contrary to what many thought it had nothing to do with the gym and everything to do with more rest.

We been in the game long enough to go through most of the mistakes and figuring out what works best.

What works on the opposite end is when one wants to lean out without tons of cardio, just add day 5 and then day 6. That alone may sharpen someone up and rev up the metabolism. I'd do this before dropping cals and then adding cardio...in that order.

Even going to Two-a-days a couple times a week has quite a few athletes I've worked with show greater improvement vs adding tons of cardio.

Those of course are much shorter workouts and are used once we've gotten to 6days a week.

I always preach 1 full day of rest regardless of getting ready for a show or not as RECOVERY is extremely important when your body is at its weakest internally when you are pushing to get very lean.

Putting on size has always been a rule of thumb at 3-4 sessions per week back in the day.

As we age (my experience) perhaps 4-5 sessions instead and shortened duration since one is usually being more moderate with their poundages used even in Grow Season when getting older.

Safety, health and longevity is paramount for long term success!

Right on board with you brother. Especially the rest day no matter what phase you're in.

Probably just keep the cals the same. That’s as high as I’d go at that weight, or maybe just a couple hundred calories higher. Olive oil is a great calorie titration tool.

You mention that you are bulking yet remaining on a pretty clean diet.

The key here may be in adding more fats to your diet. By changing the mere cut of meat you are preparing you can add in way more calories via fat. Also supplementing healthy fats and omega threes will assist in this regard as well.

Perhaps a switch to more nutrient dense vegetables such as whole sweet potatoes, yams, and incorporating root vegetables could also assist in bringing in more calories.

Very little options. Im afraid you are going to have to up your fat content because their are plenty of calorie dense foods that are just empty calories. If its a bulk then you shouldnt care about the fat because if you are eating a ton of food, you should be seeing an increase in bodyfat, if you arent then you are not bulking. Even if its clean foods tjere should still be some residual fat gain even slight.

Makwa's picture

It wasn't so much the food putting that weight on then it was the dbol and just starting up with the anabolics. I would expect a huge jump in weight with the water from dbol and the overall extra glycogen retention from starting the anabolics. Now that all that is over is when you start building some quality weight from here on out. You can't expect to keep putting on 5lbs or so a week of weight unless you want it to be fat, You could maybe expect a couple pounds and if you aren't gaining that then something has to change. That change may not necessarily be an increase in calories though. If your insulin sensitivity is shot then all that adding in more calories at this point will do is to make you gain fat and not muscle. So just be aware that adding in more calories is not always the best option. You first need to determine if you need to reset your insulin sensitivity otherwise all that adding in additional cals will do is just make you fatter and not more muscular. Yeah eating more will make the scale move, but is it the kind of weight you want?

guitarplayer1's picture

The dbol is the main culprit of the 17lb weight gain in 1 month no doubt. High estro also may have reared it's ugly head here too. Wouldn't move up in cals untill weight stabilizes and the body can handle the calories he's eating now then move up in 100cal incriments, maybe drop to maintnece cals once a week to aid in digestion but I don't know the guy well enough to say with that one.

Insulin resistance shouldn't be an issue yet unless he started this bulk without priming his carb sensitivity. Op should chime in for the answer to that potential issue.

I'm glad I can eat dairy. Cottage cheese is a staple for me. Wish I could help you.
