Need advice about minor scratches on...

ad

so i just bought a truck this weekend. its badass but it has a few minor scratches on it.. not even deep enough to go thru the clear coat or the paint job... what can i use to remove these scratches??? i tried a cleaner wax but its just temporarily until it gets dirty again, right??? i wanna remove it permanently so i dont have to deal with it anymore.

If you've never sanded a car before dont start on your new truck... You can get it clay barred and that will take out all the imperfections... It's basically a high speed buffing wheel the polishes your car w/ clay... $200 it'll cost, but it should look like brand new as long as ur clear coat is solid. call a detail shop.

Did you just make that up? Clay bar is done by hand to remove minor road dust and other stuff on pain before buffing and sanding, also used to remove overspray after painting, but clay bar buffing? Wtf a clay bar will do shit for scratches, trust me I've been doing related work for 15+ years. If you can't get it out with rubbing compound, bring it to a body shop andhave them touch it up with clear an then sand it flat, then buff it and you will never know it was there unless u look for it. Sanding a car if u never did it before is not really a good idea, if you can catch your fingernail on it, it needs to be filled or refinished and no amount of wax or compound will fix something like that

make sure you do not go through the clearcoat, just a light sand if needed

If there are a lot of them, have a pro do it, if you burn tghrough the clear you"l need it painted. If you don't have any car care knowledge don't try sanding it, compound, polish, then wax entire panel. Just have it detailed and point out the scratches (more expensive, but worth it)

If rubbing compound doesn't take it out, wet sand with 2000 grit lightly(makes sure it clean first) then use rubbing compound, and then wax

Thanks bro!

that works awesome but be very careful or you will sand right threw the clear coat. I did it on my truck and had to fix the clear in a small spot.

Use rubbing compound, then try waxing it..

that worked but only got maybe 75% of it. guess i need to try something a little tougher
