It is well though we got hit hard with covid over the holidays. 18 residents and 12 staff members positive with covid means 12 staff members are out for minimum 5 days. No losses though just quarantine and no workers lol
Wow really?? Seems to have been on a big rise over there again recently, I haven't heard of any cases here for quite some time. Man when it hits it seems virtually uncontrollable in redisential homes. Are the people becoming ill with it vaccinated or does it just not make a difference with them being old? Mind you I guess your workers are all kinds of ages that get it.
Quadruple vaccinated all ages. Vaccines arent working. Maybe helps with symptoms but everyone vaccinated keeps getting it every wave
I guess its a slightly different strain each time that has adapted to get round the vaccine, never ending cycle. I have been giving some thought to helping out a little in a local nursing home, but I worry that I might find losing people that I get to know and become familiar with quite tough to deal with. Is it something that you just learn to accept and get use to or do you find some particularly tough and upsetting?
You eventually become numb to it. But thats because im a facility director and only pick up aide hours here and there so i taught myself they are room numbers so it dont effect be. My wall. But the full time aides take it hard. Especially when covid first hit because it was people perfectly healthy and expected a couple more years and within 24hrs they are expired.
I can imagine buddy - I bet it was an horrific time. I guess ultimately when you are helping people and talking to them on a daily basis you can't help but become emotionally attached, especially over time.
