I don't bodybuild but I got this idea from watching a few people I know who are on medium stage in there career with it. Yes football basketball and so on is very physically changing don't get me wrong I played those sports but bodybuild is a way of life if you compete in it. Most athletes don't diet as hard as bodybuilders and a true bodybuilders lifts are just as taxing as athletes lifts or practices. You have to basically be be perfect you are on a big bright stage with strangers looking and judging every square inch of you. If you watch on YouTube bodybuilders vs football players each won in there respective ways like tire flips went to football even though the bodybuilder was smaller in my opinion but bench was easily won by body builders! But the bodybuilders definitely performed better than average in each event and even for the events friendly to football player they where not very far behind even in tire flip and vertical jump so on. To me bodybuilding is a sport because they train just as hard as all the rest I don't want to start anything just stating my opinion anyone who does any sport in my mind amazing job and hope the best but I say bodybuilders are definitely athletes! And it's a amazing sport

I don't think bodybuilding is technically a sport because you're being judged just off of your looks. However you have to be an extreme athlete to become a bodybuilder if that makes sense.

lol.............................. if only bro.

Watching a show and doing one is like night and day....... everyone should do it at least once to understand the rigours of that day.

Only the insane need apply............ lmaoooooo.....

I have played alot of football and alot of basketball and the physical demands of going through the compulsory judging are much more demanding then anyone can imagine unless you have actually done it. Moreso than other sport I have played except for maybe wrestling. It may look easy which is a testament to the competitors but it is probably one of the most physically demanding things you will ever put yourself through.

You go on stage and compete for points based on physique and all the effort you put into getting that physique... no different than going onto the pitch after your training for any other sport.

Definition of sport:

an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment.

Now you just turned a good post into some kind of stupid

The Impastable's picture

Are you disputing that?

Pale's picture

Absolutely. It is a sport you train for 24/7, not many sports require the amount of sacrifice of bodybuilding. Especially to reach the elite levels of the sport.
