7gothic is right on the money! steroids do not cause hair loss by itself but will only speed up any hair loss tendency one might have. for better or worse, here are few actual facts that took me years and money to find out: first thing first, once a hair-follicle fall out (not shedding, which is different and normal) there is nothing one can do to bring it back other than what is currently available of hair-transplant! so everything that is available on market: all the way from laser combs to minoxidil and azelaic acid of different percentage out there, to propecia that inhibit the DHT enzyme to even stronger dutasteride which inhibits both alpha-receptors of DHT. All will do at best is to keep what you already have from falling! giving that said, it will make a huge difference if one is thinning as appose to balding (after thinning has not been treated). i'm not advocating hair-transplant, but it’s the only realistic investment if you are balding, on the other hand it is expensive as hell plus there is a new treatment that i'm personally aiming for. it is called “ACell (MatriStem)” but this technology has only been out for few months at best, so i want to wait ten years to fully see its side effects. anyways hope that helps. best luck!
