Forget The Turkey....Bring On Deer Season!!!

ad

I hope I'm not the only who gets excited not only cause of thanksgiving turkey but deer season or any hunting sport that opens during that time?

For me that means alittle less stress and excuse to leave the house while the wife is in one of those bitchy moods and to get that extra recovery time for when Im asleep while I'm supposed to be "hunting". And just thinking about restocking the freezer with all those PROTEIN GAINS is making my mouth water!!!

Hell yea i am with u there bow hunt, gun season coming within a wk. Gotta luv that venison all natural lean meat packed with protein. Still gotta make rooom for gym time though between hunts. Hey cdrydes nice to hear rom u been a while bro...

Already stocked the freezer with some ducks and now it's rabbit and deer I'm after. I use 6.8 Spc or my 300 blk out for deer and good Ole sears and roebuck 410 pump that's about 60 years old for my Lapin' hunts

muscles247's picture

Hey now those old 410 pumps are legendary lol I have 1 that has to be that old and I never had a problem with it! I have dropped it in mud before then went to the creek put it in the water washed it out and went back to hunting but then again I clean my guns after every hunt!

Always excited for deer season! Heading out for our annual pheasant hunt in a few days! getting together with friends...watching the dogs work..telling stories and the same ol lies for the last 30 yrs! It doesn't get much better than that in my book!

muscles247's picture

You are right about that!

Thats why I hunt rabbits. I am suposed to be taking a trip to vermont for muzzle season but we will see. Bow season is my favorite because anyone can shoot a gun and hit a deer, not everyone can clean kill with a bow. I miised out 2 years in a row now and need some venison because chicken is getting me sick of eating. Perhaps a few phaesants would be nice too.

I never been pheasant hunting that is something I do want to do that and hunt elk

muscles247's picture

Man I havnt been rabbit hunting in about 3 years we use to go with dogs I swear we would shoot 3 boxes of shells and hit 1 rabbit

took the AR15 the FR-AR and FN-Fal out to the range yesterday to get them sighted in to go out the next few weekends. Basically all out of venison from last year minus a few burger patties we havent eaten. Its time to stock up again Smile

5.56 is an awful small round for whitetail. You can legally hunt with them up here but you can only use a six round mag.

irongame427's picture

Ya I just took the AR out for some fun, im sure i could take down a whitetail with it, or atleast knock it down and get over there fast enough to blow its brains out with my 45. Or get enough rounds off to kill it with the .223. My mag holds either 25 or 30 i cant remember exaclty im pretty sure its legal. But i wouldnt hunt with it, The FN-AR is my weapon of choice, those 762s will do some damage. Got an eotech on it also its almost cheating with that sight i love it. All im thinking is all that free protein Smile My grocery bill will go down signfically not buying all that steak every week.

It's all about shot placements, any caliber to the brain is normally lights out.

That being said, ....... . ... I prefer a 350 Rem Mag. 19" bbl, quick little bush gun. Recoil is a little much for most people, but I handload, so 180 gr jacketed are for deer, 250 gr for moose 158 gr semi wad cutters pistol bullets at reduced muzzle velocity's are for grouse.
Makes a nice way to get some extra camp grub.

My primary deer gun is remington 12g wingmaster with a rifled barrel, topped with a bushnell holo sight shooting federal sabots. When I go north I use my Remington 7mm magnum. That gun is only topped with a 4x40 swift but I have ripped woodchucks in half with it at 450yds factory 140g core lock ammo

Drock_357's picture

For sure on the 7mag brother! The best caliber for where I am....pretty common to shoot 200 yrd plus. Large open crop fields with thick brushy draws you need something to reach out there and still pack a punch! Good luck this season!

muscles247's picture

Mean would be either a 243 or 270 those are my main 2 deer guns

muscles247's picture

Man im getting all mine ready this weekend and then het my bow ready and its on and all those burger patties and steak making my mouth water!

I wish i could come with you brother.... but unfortunately in England now if we even get caught carrying a fkn pocket knife its straight to a cell :(

A friend of mine got pulled in a minor road incident yesterday (nothing serious)..... he got searched which is normal and because he had his fishing jacket on and had a pen knife in his pocket he spent the night in a fkn police cell................... Britain is fkn great!!!................... NOT.

muscles247's picture

WTF!!!! 1 night for a pocket knife is crazy? All the different countries laws are BS! All my redneck and Country buddies would never get out of the jail haha

Gymjunkie01's picture

So you guys get thrown in jail for a pocket knife we get thrown in jail and hit with a felony for steroids for personal use, each of our countries suck in their own way.
