F LabCorp in the A

ad

So I just went to order bloods for the first time since the pandemic hit. What in the shit?! LabCorps prices have more than tripled. They're like unreasonably high...

I just got off the phone with privatemdlabs and they said they raised it for everyone it's not just them, and that they brought on the ability to order from Quest so they don't go out of business...

I asked if it was just a temporary thing because of Corona, but they said to their knowledge it's permanent... Hopefully Quest doesn't follow suit... i'm not trying to spend 400 bucks for routine labwork.

Either way I just figured I'd give you's all a heads up. Every test on privatemdlabs now has a resonably priced Quest version along side of it. They're a few bucks higher than the old prices, but i'll gladly take it over the new LabCorp pricing.

Probably another game to milk the insurance industry for more money. Scumbags. Fuck you LabCorp. F U in the fuckin A.

That is all. As you were.

Damn! You weren't kidding! Just had some precycle bloods pulled. Went w/Quest after checking those Labcorp prices. Cost $150 after coupon. Would've been $479 w/Labcorps. The gals at Quest said they've been busy af. I showed them why.

Doesn’t make any sense. Like they have to know they’re just giving a ton of business to Quest. Maybe they made some huge deal with a health insurance company

ECinfidel's picture

Just did some quick googling. Apparently they've had some rising personal costs and other diversification related expenses. But nothing that really seems like it would merit doubling and tripling testing costs.

DfromPhilly's picture

I wonder what “diversification related expenses” are... very vague

ECinfidel's picture

That's not a direct quote. What I meant was, it looks like they're branching out into other medical/testing related areas. Which obviously requires investment/capitol. Their stock value is actually increasing as well due to them being a major player in covid testing.

DfromPhilly's picture

Ahhh that makes sense, but like you said, doesn’t justify 3-4x cost increase

ECinfidel's picture

Not at all. Generally when a co. wants to generate capital, they low-key raise prices, or just have a stock offering. There's for sure something else in play here. And I can find zero direct info.
Nonetheless, Quest is probably hiring temps to help count money right now as a result. Lol

lol for sure. I’m about to grab some quest stock

I almost fell out of my chair when I saw the $730 price tag for the Male Athletic Anti-Aging Panel through Labcorp

Thanks for posting this...

They won’t even see me in my state without a doctors order.

I noticed it too! Quest is the way to go now; def a difference in price. Specially if you run mutiple Labs during the cycle! Could save over $100 bucks

I noticed this too when I had labs drawn a few weeks ago.

Looks like you can still get the regular CBC/CMP/FSH/LH/E2 and Total Test LCMS for 75.99 before discount but no Free T with that one.

From quest or labcorp?

Gh0st's picture

Quest through privatemd .. but now that I’m looking again it’s not the ultra sensitive E2 which is definitely preferred for us.

I think the one you got for 105.99 before discount is what I’ll get next, unless I really want to check my free T which looks like that is an extra 20. All through the privatemdlabs website though what I’m seeing when you have the option to choose Quest

nice. i'll have to look for the one you got when i'm not on cycle. All of the quest options definitely made it harder to read and find stuff

Excellent post d....just went to reorder the usual female hormones panel and it it’s 300$... fuck that noise! Was 60$ with coupon for the last 5 yrs or so and now 300?...people do anything to make a fu:;‘ng buck..:

I like how they show the cost of both of them together. Maybe that will shame labcorp into reducing their prices. I was looking at it and thought they might be overwhelmed with convid 19 testing. Didn’t realize it was permanent

Fuck man I’m about to pull igf. I had no idea...

Yea dude. They said it happened in early March. Luckily I'm in a pretty populated area and I have both Quest and Lapcorp nearby. But I'd imagine this may fuck some rural guys over pretty bad.

Bill G's picture

That must be why I couldn't find the test I was looking for. Searching prices and never saw the 69 dollar female panel.

Yea I ended up getting the hormone panel with ultra sensitive e2 and testosterone LCMSMS for like 105. After the discount it was 90
