They are really killing off these cartel guys. This is what? Over 100 so far? Now the are sinking narco submarines also. I think the drugs are going to dry up in a couple years. They haven’t been letting up. In fact they been going harder and harder. I suspect we will be bombing them soon.

Unfortunately, I think there’s a bunch on this thread that are thinking too optimistically or don’t understand the full grasp of how much dope actually id trafficked into this country from Mexico & how many “Kingpins” & smugglers there are. Sorry to be the guy pissing in everyone’s Cheerios but there won’t be any end to the drugs coming to this Country or much more than some minor disruptions to the flow regardless what the US does. There won’t be any major changes in the overall situation until the Mexican government itself takes a much bolder stance on the whole thing. That’s a LOT more difficult for them to do than 99% of Americans can understand. I could write a book here explaining why & the list of reasons the supply of drugs won’t stop anytime in the near future, but I’ll name the 1st & most important & leave it at that. Regardless if you agree or disagree with this, unfortunately it’s simply facts & ones we wish weren’t true. The most important reason = the drug cartels directly & indirectly own & run the entire country of Mexico.. Reason drugs wont stop flooding into our country anytime soon = the millions of people who purchase all the drugs & the Mexico —> US drug trade is worth 200 Billion with a B dollars every year.. where there’s that kind of money to be made the lil fuckers will literally strap dope on their backs & sprint through mine fields to get a slice of it. One last small thing is Trump will only be President for another couple years & then who knows.. if a dem takes office the whole stance that has already been taken will be completely tossed out & they will have free run of things again. It’s a wonderful thought that all the drugs & laundry list of problems they cause will come to an end, but reality most likely won’t play out that way
The Mexican government won't take a bolder stance until they are pressured into it by the US government. The US will go in unilaterally with drone strikes. Preferably under the optics that the Mexican government, military, and LE are working with them (a sovereignty face saving issue)
After the cartels are splintered and weakened there will be a rooting out of officials working for the cartels and officials under the thumb of the cartels will once again be able to work without the threat of death to themselves and their families.
Eventually there will be a new normal. There will still be a "manageable" black market drug economy just like in the US and most everywhere else.
You can draw a parallel between the US dismantling the mobsters in the day which controlled state officials, unions, docks, distribution (truckers) etc.
Dismantle the cartels that have state control. And break them down to local gangs with little or no political influence.
1920 to1980 was the era of "industrial-scale" organized crime, where the Mafia controlled the nation's supply chains. That's not to say we don't have organized crime today. It doesn't hold the political power it once had.
Today, the Davos crowd is the "organized crime" you need to worry about. The international corporations, central banks, Blackrock, Chatham House, etc.
Venezuela and the cartel fights are linked and it won't just stay in Mexico. The BIGGEST goal is to stop that dark money from going to the organized crime bosses listed above.
