Confidence

Are there any certain medicines/drugs out tree that give high confidence or remove fear/anxiety?
I've been suffering from social anxiety for a lot of years, I've been through CBT and a doctor prescribed Zoloft which kind of worked for a while.
It's just something for short term use, job interview and to get the first week out the way should I get the job.

I agree with most of what kodiak said. Xanax is horible. Its one of the few drugs that can kill you if u go off of it cold turkey. Plus u do things on it u don't realize. So many ppl wake up in jail after taking it. A fighting art is fine as long as it works with ur work schedule. I loved mma but I had to go right from it to work and I got tired of feeling like I was in fight club, icing my jaw and covered with bruises on bad days. Tai chi, meditation and yoga r great for anxiety. Testosterone will give u confidence.
I don't do pills and dont smoke weed, but maybe you could and it might work for you. Shoot some tne, that should up your confidence quick. For me steroids brings out my inner confidence. I thought I had social anxiety, come to find out I was surrounded by assholes.
"I thought I had social anxiety, come to find out I was surrounded by assholes." this is the truth, negative people suck.
Bro when you're surrounded by cynical negative people all the time, you will become cynical and negative... you really have to analyze the people around you and see if they benefit you, if not leave them behind... I have one true friend, the rest HA! Jealous, negative, cynical losers....
My point exactly. I used to live with my 4 cousins and there wouldn't be a day without bickering, cracking on each other, bad mouthing or putting each other down in some way. It was a negative atmosphere that affected my social personality. Now like you I surround myself with loved ones and people who don't care if I'm perfect or not. I Stay around people I see myself in and people who can add substance to my circle and lift me up!
Believe it or not bro, that situation can make or break you... it really takes a lot to pick up and say, "I'm changing everything today" overnight bro, I made a life saving/changing decision. You need some positive reinforcement bro PM me, I love to help people...
Thank you all for your advice and kind words, that's why this site rocks.
I've decided to hit this head on, if it doesn't work it wasn't meant to be but I can take the positive of trying, should I get the job my confidence will return stronger, result either way.
Once again thank you all.
I think you should seriously consider doing some type of martial arts and or yoga... it will help with the anxiety as the forms have you focus and concentrate on the present moment, it is social but not throw you in a crowd kind of way. it is great for building body awarenes and which leads to confidence. it is something that you can practice at home and if you do it often enough you will notice that when you get into situations that cause you anxiety you will automatically move into deep breathing and become more present
Boxing helped me.. for six years.. two county titles...
boxing is good too ;-)
LOL only the best!! I'm sorry getting excited over here...
To alleviate the physical symptoms of social anxiety (blushing, rapid heart rate, tremors, etc) a beta-blocker such as Propranolol should do the trick. It calms you down and eliminates adrenaline from binding to beta receptors on nerves, thus keeping you cool, calm, and collected versus a sweaty nervous wreck.
Its really easy to get a script for, just go to your doctor and tell them about your problem... If you experience physical symptoms accompanying your anxiety you will most likely find this to be a huge help. It's not a narcotic and in my opinion you should stay away from these hard core drugs to calm you down... Go to your doc, get a script and see if this works for you! Good luck.
Testosterone boostes your confidence. But other then that. I will tell you one thing if you are socially awkward, my best advice for you is go out more and meet new people. There's no need for drugs to boost your confidence, because they will just make your case worst man. Practice talking to people when you're going out; I'm pretty sure you have problems talking to ladies alsosince you have social problem, so just go out and talk to random girls, even if they're not good looking. After you get the point of knowing how to talk to girls, it should help you learn how to talk to good looking girls without a problem.
And about confidence; go to the gym and lift! And don't care what other people think about you, because if you care what others think about you, you're going to miss out on life. To learn more about confidence, you should learn the "Alpha Male Character Traits".
This is excellent advice...my son was quantified as having "social anxiety". Social anxiety is just shyness, some people are painfully shy. yr advice is exactly what my son did and although he can be uncomfortable in certain situations for the most part he has overcome his insecurities and gained major confidence and is much more comfortable in public environments....imo people are being classified with all kinds of dosorders so that pharma drugs can be pushed upon them which long term, only exacerbate the problem. +1
Xanax IMO...But I'm not a doctor..wish I could help more bro; I had the same problem for awhile...God took care of me my friend... pray about it.
xanax is a horrible thing to recommend .. it is highly addictive, can cause other mutilple problems and issues that will compound the anxiety in the long run.. bad choice my friend very bad choice.. ..
Thank you, I used it before for that purpose; I couldn't think of the other medication they put me on... I just ended up praying about it, over and over again and it went away believe it or not.
If you're looking for short term skip the first paragraph
Last summer my anxiety decided to get really bad for some reason, it eventually started to affect my social life so thats when I knew i needed to do something about it. I was prescribe Citalopram for 10ish months and it worked wonders. Obviously everyones different, 5mg did nothing and with 20mg I didn't care about anything, 10mg was perfect. You have to take it everyday (morning or night) for 9-12 months so that it stays with you once you slowly stop taking it. I haven't taken it in a while and feel great, every once in a while I'll take a pill when my anxiety is super high but that hasn't happened in a while.
Monks is right though that no pill completely cures you of anxiety. Ya Citalopram helped me but what really made the difference was seeing a psychologist. I know a lot of people don't like seeing someone but I only had to do four meetings, once every other week, until I didn't need that anymore. Theres two things he taught me that I use often and have helped a lot
1) No matter how bad your anxiety is it does not change anything! Example, if you have anxiety about a presentation at work and miss it your boss isn't going to say "Oh you had anxiety? No worries then" No, you'll get in trouble or miss opportunities that could advance your career. I control my anxiety, it does not control me.
Which leads to the next point
2) You control the thoughts that go into your own head! This one I use a lot. If I feel my anxiety kicking in I take a minute to think (or excuse myself) about how there is no need to have anxiety and how its stupid to be even worried about this situation. Simplify the situation in your head. You're going to walk in there, talk to a guy (about yourself) and leave. What has always helped me with interviews is that I think of them as an excuse to literally sit there brag about yourself.
To my knowledge there isn't a med on the planet that can completely and permanently remove anxiety and install true inner confidence.
IMO, The only way to overcome your fear is to meet it head on with everything you got. Do it once, you'll do it twice, after that you'll feed off the self accomplishment and push yourself to the next mental obstacle and within that lies the confidence you seek.
