changing major in college

the program i am in is bugging me a lot. especially right now. i just finished my third year of college and i am considering changing my major from biochemistry to business (possibly accounting or finance). i am getting really frustrated with my grades. getting Bs and Cs doesn't cut it because i would need to get an advanced degree. end goal was bioinformatics or pharmacy. i already got an 80 on the PCAT... but i dont know anymore.
i am good at managing money and working with people. My parents are college of business professors, and they both enjoy their job and their past jobs. i think i would enjoy either career, but i am falling flat in the one i am in now.

waltryou only get one life dude, the challenge is to figure out what you enjoy, what's gonna make you wake up every day and get excited because you have a brand new day to find out more about it?
picking a career based on how much money your gonna make can lead a person to be very unhappy in life. in all honesty if you find something that you absolutely love to do and it pays shit, you'll still make it work somehow.

Push forward and pursue your field that had great job security and ability to make a nice living; business major is really a fucking pain in the ass to find a good job!

PS I work in Nursing (RN) or Physical therapist (don't want to be to specific) but the grades where low for me too in school; but I still am able to get the same pay and same respect and tbh my patients love me and other "A" students I know; come to me for real world advice and practice!

Just because you sat for the PCAT and are close to graduate doesnt mean you are forced down a no return road to finish what you started. IMO an extra year or two in college to change majors is a better investment in the long run to be satisfied instead of being miserable your whole life doing something you are already having second thoughts with. Talk to people who do the careers you are considering and ask them how they feel about their life, how many jobs there are and what their day is like. See if you fit in with the kind of work they do, the people they are and can see yourself as them in 10, 20 yrs.
waltrchiming in on what was said above, i'm sure if you talked to your professors they probably have contacts somewhere that would get your foot in the door to "shadow" somebody in the field and see what day to day the job would be like. hell if you decide to stay with what you're going to school for now it could lead to a potential employer even.

my sis is an RN. she wants to go back to college to get another degree, but she doesnt know what she wants to study. lol

Waltr is dead on with this one. I'm an accounting major few hours away from taking the CPA exam. I love and hate my job. I've been in the accounting field for over 15. It doesn't change.. They numbers maybe different but your normal day to day routine is redundant. It's decent money so I can't complain.. Just remember during tax season you will be slammed with people 70+ hours easy. You really need to find someone in each field and ask them...if you have any questions please feel free to pm me...

waltri know someone who just took their cpa licensing exam and they got hired for a job as an accountant with some large type firm.
starting salary is 56,000 a year with 1 month vacation, during the off season (non tax season) it's a 4 day week with fridays off. during tax season they're looking at 60-70+ hours a week, so that is a trade-off in my opinion. you've gotta consider pro's/con's in every situation, also how you handle stress and work place demands.
if your looking into accounting/finance find somebody who does it for a living and get their opinion, then find another person and get their opinion and repeat the process until you feel like you have a good overview of what you'd do day to day.
i don't know diddly about biochemistry other than 1 guy i know who majored in it and does something with chickens for a major poultry producer. i know he makes good money at it, but i have no clue what he actually does or what is required of him.
Stay where your at. You will increase your graduation by up to 2 years at this point. You are already so close just buckle down
Yo man... What do you call a doctor who finished last in his class??? A DOCTOR.. Who cares about Bs and Cs, theres a lot of money in that degree don't change it

Choose whatever major that supports your long term goals... I'm a Chem student also, but just because I want to teach high school level science courses. More money to be made in accounting esp if you minor in international business. I would just pick the field you think you would enjoy, more to life than gross wages.
No homo dude but your obviously extremely disciplined and competitive (yeah i checked out your pics lol) and if your passing those classes you must be smart as hell. I think you can do it. There are probably a select few who are unbeatable (top ten percent) and then the losers who have no shot (bottom ten percent), everyone else is probably working with a similar mental limit you just gotta beat them through planning and preparedness.
thanks bro. i am very competitive. i just want to make sure that i am making a good career choice whether i continue the path i am on or choose a different path. i have been talking to some people in both fields of study.
