+ 5 BROCCOLI HEAD/ TRIPOD SHITFLUENCER RANT THREAD!

ad

Let’s hear it. We all need therapy from this. I think it’s time for us to have a safe place to console each other from the pain of:
Waiting for a 4-6 person rotation on a machine,
the crocs,
the slippers,
the tripods,
the abundance of YLA clothes,
and “influencing” all over IG when they’ve been training for 8 months and somehow have elite knowledge to share

After getting Bronchitis this year, I was determined to get it. Was pretty worried actually about getting flu related sides afterwards but never got a single thing - same with the covid shot too.

Lol what’s so funny is it never gets old. What a coincidence because my wife text me something a day ago about this and I thought of the thread. This is a funny reminder. Also, I’ve been going to the gym early AM and get out before the stalks come in around 11 am

I swear on everything I didn’t know there was a thread like this before hahahaha

Haha I lift at home too. But when I travel for work I always end up at a YMCA or equivalent. And they are ALWAYS full of the douchiest guys you've ever seen, whole groups of them. It's the worst.

I’ve been at the Y since my oldest was born. It’s been a long 4 years at that crappy gym. It’s the only gym that offers child care and isn’t that far from our house so it was the only option. It definitely attracts all the douches. Sometimes they let the after school kids come up to the gym and that’s a compete nightmare. Some Ys atleast have a decent selection of equipment but not mine.

I just finished building my home gym. I love it. It’s got everything I need and I never have to wait on anyone, except my wife lol. But she’s pretty good about staying out of my way.

Haha home gyms are the best, and you're right about YMCA having some awesome equipment. Im currently working out of town in a little shithole that somehow has the nicest YMCA I've ever been in. Full of hammer strength equipment, and the shittiest, douchiest high school kids I've ever seen.

So, I have 11' ceilings in my basement except for a part of it that's under my master bathroom where the whirlpool tub is where they are 8' for the plumbing .I originally put the gym there. First couple times I used it I FOR REAL almost put my head thru the ceiling doing pullups. I'm honestly surprised based on how hard I smashed my dome into it that I didnt to thru.

That’s my goal too, brother … build a home gym with solid commercial gear. Nothing fancy, just the good stuff. Little by little. Regular gyms these days feel less like gyms and more like zoos … overcrowded, bad vibes, and damn near inhospitable for anyone who actually wants to train.

Do it man. You won’t regret it. It’s not all that expensive to build a comprehensive home gym these days. Not like it was years ago.,I got a leg press/hack squat machine. Not commercial grade but 100 people aren’t using it everyday. My wife and I use it 1-2x ew. It’s very well built and rated for more weight than I’ll probably even put on it. I can’t see us ever wearing it out. Then I have a leg extension leg curl machine. Then I got an all in one trainer as they call it that was a bit higher end and the company claims commercial grade. It’s heavy duty. It’s got cables, smith, a power rack. It does Tbar rows, lat pull downs, low rows, pull ups, dips etc etc. The front uprights size and hole spacing are standard so you can get all kinds of different attachments for it. Then you just need some dumbbells. Most people go with adjustable dumbbells to save room and money which seems to be the way to go. And then you need plates, which are not cheap. But I found some good deals on marketplace. All in all I got somewhere around 7-8k in the equipment and another $2k in drywall, flooring and paint. I was fine with an unfinished room but my wife wanted to finish it and make it look cool lol. But all this stuff fully covers each muscle group and there’s more than enough variety to switch it up periodically. I spent a couple months researching what equipment to buy. There are an overwhelming number of different choices today. But I’m pretty happy with the equipment we bought.

Milfpounder's picture

Oh ya. Social media has made gyms a nightmare. I did it the same way. First thing I bought was a half rack and bench/weights etc. most expensive investment BY FAR for me is the dumbbells. Those fuckers are EXPENSIVE. After you get the set up to 50lbs it ends up being about a dollar a pound for every additional dumbbell. I've heard about adjustable sets being pretty cool tho.

It’s like, I was training before it was a trendy thing to do. I feel like we deserve something for that. A right of passage

Yes. They should definitely implement a time for real gym bros only. Like a Costco platinum card type thing. Like hit 315 on the bench and ur in.

I must go to the gym too early for them to show up in droves. There's 1 guy who is sometimes in at 5 am with the sides done at a 1 but the top is all curly and poofy. Dude always has a ton of cologne on and product in his hair. I don't understand getting all done up to go to the gym. I'm here to get sweaty then go home and shower. No tripod though. Not too many people do that at my gym Which I'm glad for.

irongame427's picture

For the most part only serious people train at 5am. The instagram bros don’t show up until way later.

I hate people who are loaded up with cologne at the gym. Shit gives me a headache.

Milfpounder's picture

Serious lifters and 65 year olds watching the news

irongame427's picture

That is true, old people are also there that early. They gotta get their swoll on before 6am breakfast Waffle House or McDonalds..

Milfpounder's picture

In my part of the world they usually head over to the nearest gas station and eat some really nasty looking biscuits and gravy together in groups of 5 or so. It's gonna be us one day dude. Talking about how cool is was to be fuckin jacked and now we can't even walk. Hahaha

Petecastiglione's picture

They care about it because they aren’t really training lol it’s all a fucking show. And yes, sides 1, top curly and poofy, according to my calculations that is indeed a pure bred broccoli head

That guy is actually in pretty decent shape. He's clear been training for a while. Still weird to smell cologne in the gym though.
