So I always hear "your co-workers, neighbors, blah blah use AAS" in documentaries and it has made me curious. What do you do for a living? Are most users blue collar? Or do we have a wide spectrum. Feel free to throw your occupation and any not-too-personal info out

Supernova283Ooo I got certified in welding in high school. It's pretty fun and a lot harder than I thought it would be. Looks so easy.
We had wood shop once a week in high school. It was that or home economics. Maybe I just went to a shitty school in a shitty school district.
Supernova283We didn't have once a week classes. You picked all your noncore classes. We had a bunch of "Academy" classes you could choose from like automotive, engineering, law, medical, and other stuff which gave you an idea of what you might want to do.
A lot of them had certifications you could take if you put in the time and were in it for multiple years.
It was actually a lot of fun. I was in the engineering academy and they taught us to solder, wire, weld, and we built little model bridges and registered tension and built trebuchets and stuff.
It was actually a whole lot of fun.
I didn't realize it was a tech school u meant. I went to a regular ol' high school. In a shitty city quite frankly. Did you learn on a mig or stick? Just curious because it seems that everyone uses a mig these days. There's no skill involved. Stick welding is a lost art

I don't really think it was a tech school. It wasn't anything-tech it just had that kind of stuff in it if you wanted to do it.

Supernova283It was nice. It had really good AP physics, chem, and calc teachers which is why I went there. The academies where just a fun bonus.
And for those not interested in academys we had other activities like team sports, and weightlifting and other extracurriculars.
Ah highschool. The good ol' days when you could get straight As by just showing up and not being retarded.
Unfortunately I fucked up an opportunity to go to the school I wanted to. I was accepted, but got thrown out 2 months into my freshman year for fighting. It was all down hill from there. I am from a big city where education isn't at the top of the list. It was a little better back then. Now it's a joke, seriously. I'm cashing in favors left and right to get my kids into a charter school
Supernova283Idk can't be that bad. I'm from Florida which has like the second worst schooling in the country and my school was great in my opinion. Can't imagine other schools being that bad if we're ranked 49th (or maybe 48th).
Can't say I'm a big fan of cities. People there don't make any effort to hide the fact that they don't give a shit about other people. Down here you better pray no one see's you mugging/raping anyone or else you probably won't survive the encounter.

You got certified in high school? Where the fuck did u go to school? I don't buy it. They X-ray your welds and under stress the test piece of steel can break anywhere but your weld. They did all that in high school or are you about 60? Ohh, u were being funny
Supernova283No I wasn't being funny. I went to one of those high schools that promotes certifications.
There were a bunch of things you could get certified in if you put in the time. You could get certain IT certifications, and some industrial certifications as well. I'm sure you probably have a high school near you that does it as well.
They didn't X-ray my weld, but they did stress test it.
Well I stand corrected. Welding sucks btw. Especially in the summer. Luckily I don't have to do it often anymore. I work in a refrigerated warehouse fixing whatever breaks.
Supernova283Oh I don't weld anymore. I just figured I had the option to do it and it'd be a notch on my belt. I liked doing it. We did it in an AC room though. It was ridiculously harder than it looks, but I did like it.
Haven't done it in 2 years though.
I'm glad you don't do it anymore if you didn't like it. I can imagine doing it a lot could get very tedious.
