Avoiding distraction from friends...
Tonight a girl from work who I get on well with is leaving, I've had a bit of a thing going with her and she expects me to come along to dinner and then drinks in a few bars after work with a crowd of people. She also keeps trying to tempt me into eating chocolate muffins and cake, big no on the paleo diet.
The problem is this is a back and Biceps day followed by an hour of football for cardio. I love working out on fridays because all the annoying gym kids from the week tend to give themselves friday, sat, sunday off. Its easier to get your workouts done, plus my buddy who am I doing a strength training program with will be back after a day off.
Do I be a dick and just head down the gym which is really what I want to do if no one would mind, or force myself to go out and stay as clean as possible on what I eat/drink?
It doesn't seem to matter how many times I say " I won't eat that" people who don't lift keep asking the same things. Do you find normal civilians with no clue about diet/lifting get in the way and act as a distraction from your goals? How should I handle this?

Food will always be there....the gym will always be there...this opportunity will not! You might regret passing the opportunity and you can do two a days on Saturday and Sunday to punish yourself!
AnonIt sounds to me like you need to find balance in your life.
Like it or not food is a very social thing. In fact Id say the majority of eating we do is a cocial act first and sustinance second.
Unless you have decided on a career as a body builder or an underwear model a chocolate muffin now and again wont kill you around your waist, and it just may in fact stimulate your brain. Pleasurable social activity like that just may release some endorphins, especially if you see it as a rare treat rather than a sacrifice or punishment.
The point is we all want to be fit ,strong, look good, and feel good, but at what cost and to what end ?
Dont miss out on life, and as I mentioned perhaps an even better muffin, just because you have gotten too damm obsessed with calorie counting. You can and still will reach your goals, but dont make the sacrafice of excluding your self from fun to get there. Otherwise whats the point ?
Thank you, points taken and very well made. I just see it as Robot-mode...not even tempted as much as id actually like one or just to eat a pizza, etc I see it as a fuel and just think " empty calories, pure sugar carbs",etc and avoid. If its not natural fats, protein, fruit or veg I don't bother on the Paleo. I think im going to head into town tonight in the end and socialise a bit.
AnonAwesome ! Have fun and just remember you can and will make up for it .
UPnSMOKEHow about this. Tell her for the night your hers but in the morning she has to hit he gym with you to make it a fair deal.
Anonor they could just do plenty of "sexercise"
Anona little fun here and there isn't gonna kill you bro. if you eat something you're not supposed to do, do a little extra cardio. if you drink, it's up to you how much, but balance it out the next couple days with diet and cardio. sweating it out will be good too. it's not gonna kill you.
Nothing wrong with the odd little treat etc.
It's called "winter bulking".......
Anoni like novice's "no calorie muffin" idea... lol
Anonput some time in and she might give you a no calorie muffin and a good cardio work out !
UPnSMOKEI like that. At work for Christmas my co workers chipped in and bought me some protein:) I thought that was cool.
Anonlol!!
