Orals and grapefruit juice

ad

Has anyone ever experimented with orals and grapefruit juice? I watched one of vigorous Steve's videos and heard him saying to take orals with grapefruit juice to increase the potency of them. I then came across this article https://www.anabolicplanner.com/blog/grapefruit-and-steroids-dangerous-i... saying it increases them to a dangerous level. Anyone have any experience doing this? If so, did you notice any unusual effects?

Spool's picture

What if you boof the orals and drink the grapefruit juice? Will that increase bio availability?

Probably better to just do sublingual instead, right?

EXACTAMONDOOOO!!!!!

Definitely an interesting topic and I will do more research. I’ve known about the grapefruit thing for years now and for whatever reason never thought about applying it to my gear usage. Appreciate the topic and info, I have a new rabbit hole to dive into.

I did it with dbol and it definetly enhanced it for me but it want enjoyable.

I did it with anavar, ran for a few weeks at 25 mgs and it definitely increased potency. I just couldn’t handle the heartburn.

Ricflairwoooo1981's picture

Yeah your definitely right about that heartburn with the grapefruit juice lol and jock your right about there's zlot of medications they say don't drink it on it but I wander how 'much juice you would need to drink for it to really make a big difference

Jockstrap's picture

Speeds absorption. There's medications you don't want absorbed fast and theres a warning on the label. I'd go to pubmed. Vigorous Steve sounds like hes a rectal pirate

Ricflairwoooo1981's picture

Yeah you see what vigorous Steve is doing now to increase the girth downstairs. What top Olympians are putting in there arms and dents he's injecting it down a little further lol. You notice our of.these so called bio hackers it's just vigorous Steve n Tony huge left n they live cheap off In Thailand.

Buddy loves thailand!! He got a cool place in a prime area for like 900 that has everything. Pix look great

I know a few people that have moved out there - you can literally live like a King out there for fuck all, house servants and everything. Lady Trannies too .....

I researched one day to figure out why it was advised not to consume it with cialis, as I enjoy that drug.

Always figured it was because it made medications ineffective. I was wrong. Turns out it inactivates an enzyme that breaks down the medication in the small intestine, making it more effective, but not to a predictable degree.

Bluedog99's picture

Exactly it's almost too effective to a point. If no one has tried it, I might try on a less intense oral like Anavar some time and document what happens.

SeeOhShow's picture

You just gotta see if the oral you’re taking is broken down by that specific enzyme. Not all medications are metabolized by the enzyme that grapefruit interferes with. You probably can just ask AI if whatever oral you’re interested in running this experiment with is metabolized by the CYP3A4 enzyme. Or any medication for that matter

TDAU's picture

Via grok:

No, oxandrolone is not primarily (or significantly) broken down by CYP3A4.

Oxandrolone (Anavar) undergoes limited metabolism overall. It is metabolized primarily by the kidneys, with only lesser involvement of the liver. It is notable among anabolic-androgenic steroids (AAS) as the only one that is not primarily or extensively metabolized by the liver; this structural feature (including its 2-oxa lactone and lack of a 4-ene) contributes to its relative resistance to hepatic biotransformation and lower hepatotoxicity compared with other 17α-alkylated AAS.

Key pharmacokinetic and metabolic points:
Oral bioavailability is high (~97%).
A substantial portion of a dose is excreted unchanged in urine (~28% of the dose; the parent drug is the major urinary compound).
Minor metabolites include 17-epioxandrolone (via sulfation/epimerization pathways), small amounts of 16α- and 16β-hydroxyoxandrolone, and a δ-hydroxy acid from lactone hydrolysis. Phase II conjugation (e.g., glucuronidation) is minimal due to steric hindrance.
Elimination half-life is roughly 9–10 hours in adults (longer in the elderly).

CYP enzymes are not identified as major contributors to its clearance in humans. DrugBank and other sources list oxandrolone as a CYP2C9 inhibitor (relevant to interactions such as with warfarin), but not as a substrate of CYP3A4 (or other major CYPs) for its own metabolism. Limited hydroxylation occurs, but the specific human enzymes responsible have not been established as CYP3A4; any CYP involvement appears minor at most. (One speculative note in the literature links CYP3A4/CYP21 possibly to formation of certain long-term rearranged metabolites, but this is not the primary breakdown pathway of the parent drug.)

In short, oxandrolone’s clearance does not meaningfully depend on CYP3A4.

Man you gotta love AI. So much info at our fingertips. Looks like grapefruit + Anavar wouldn’t be a worthwhile experiment in boosting its effectiveness

Grapefruit is not breaking it down. Speeds absorption in stomach versus intestines

TDAU's picture

Have you tried it?

I'm getting this from grok:
No, grapefruit (or grapefruit juice) is not expected to speed the absorption of oxandrolone or meaningfully increase its bioavailability.

Why not?
Grapefruit juice primarily inhibits intestinal (and to a lesser extent hepatic) CYP3A4, as well as some transporters like P-glycoprotein. This can significantly raise the blood levels of drugs that undergo substantial first-pass metabolism via CYP3A4 in the gut wall—often by increasing the extent of absorption (AUC) more than the rate.

Oxandrolone does not fit this profile:
It already has very high oral bioavailability (~97%).
It is not a significant CYP3A4 substrate. Its metabolism is limited and occurs primarily in the kidneys, with only minor hepatic involvement.
Peak plasma concentrations typically occur around 1 hour after dosing, and food effects (when studied) relate more to high-fat meals potentially delaying or slightly reducing peak levels rather than any CYP-related mechanism.

No clinical or pharmacokinetic studies report an interaction between oxandrolone and grapefruit. Standard drug-interaction databases list no such warning for oxandrolone (unlike many true CYP3A4 substrates).

Practical notes
Taking oxandrolone on an empty stomach may lead to slightly faster or higher peak levels compared with a high-fat meal, but this is a general food-effect consideration, not related to grapefruit.
Grapefruit remains irrelevant for altering oxandrolone’s absorption or exposure based on available evidence.

In short, there is no reason to expect grapefruit to speed (or enhance) oxandrolone absorption.

No grapefruit inhibits an enzyme which metabolizes certain medications, thus causing more of it to be in your bloodstream. When you take something, 100% of it doesn’t go in your bloodstream. You metabolize and excrete some before it does anything. Grapefruit blocks that CYP3A4 enzyme from doing its thing so you end up with much more effective dose than anticipated.

Ummm.....instead then of half that tab being ruined....now theres 100% in your system??
Isn't that the idea? Like pinning winny....

SeeOhShow's picture

Yea dude…you can do the research to verify this statement. I don’t just spout shit out of my ass.

It literally causes overdoses from what would normally be a standard dose.

Ricflairwoooo1981's picture

I hear you brother it does the same With methadone and some.other medications I literally jus watched wolf of walk street n he's boofing qualudes for a stronger high and I heard of an idiot who took a beer chug tube up the gluteus maximus and OD

“Grapefruit is not breaking it down. Speeds absorption in stomach versus intestines”

What you posted says exactly what I said. Inhibits how much is metabolized. And directly contradicts what you said.

If you can’t see how you’re wrong here then I can’t help you. It’s actually funny how often you are both wrong and so confidently insolent while doing it.

Jockstrap's picture

You spotted like a whale.

significantly raises.....

And???

4shitsngiggles's picture

You spotted like a whale? What's that mean?

TDAU's picture

Does make me wonder if you could do it with really tiny doses and get more out of your money. The hard part would be you'd have no real idea on how much you're actually ingesting. But I guess that's kinda true for most gear, unless you're getting it scripted.

I will say, that prescription anavar definitely hits way different than any of the ugl var I've had so far

Bluedog99's picture

That would be great if it is true cause pharma grade is crazy expensive and getting more out of it for your initial purchase would be attractive to most. Another thing (there is only one study to back this up) is a correlation between caffeine and anavar as well making it supposedly more effective. If I can find it on pub med I'll link it.

Norblin's picture

No, but same goes with SSRIs, avoid grapefruit juice while taking them

Ricflairwoooo1981's picture

Also with like opoid blockers such as Suboxone or methadone since methadone can have a 72 hour half life and if u took 100mg.methadone today tommorow 24 hours later 50 is still in ur system and so I remember my brother before he passed away couldn't have grapefruit or grapefruit juice all the nurses said it increased its potency in the liver but I don't no if that's with like all opioids period
