A little humility?

ad

I'm seeing something around here that's becoming all too common. People with superiority complexes. Obviously this is just a part of human nature. And just like in any other community or society, eroids has different demographics and groups of people who fit into a category. It's supposed to be a community of sharing knowledge and experience with some level of comradery, and in most cases it is. You see everyone sharing and helping each other out. People posting pics when it took every ounce of courage they had to hit that save button. They get all the support and encouragement from their eroidian brothers and sisters that they need to push forward and not relent. You see it in the forums, cycles, diets etc. But you also get the douche bags. Usually young, in pretty good shape and feeling good about themselves (as they should). But the minute they feel like they are being challenged at all, they immediately get defensive and passive aggressively belittle the person they're interacting with. Talk shit about their pics, about how stupid their cycle plan is, how old they are, how light weight they are, how little experience they may have etc. It's a little bit ridiculous. While they may very well be physically superior to others, they believe that its the only thing that's important. Don't get me wrong, i am extremely health conscious and take excellent care of myself so I understand that. But I don't weigh 200lbs. I can't bench 405lbs. Does that make me you any better than me? Because you can lift more? Or might look better than the next guy? Fuck no! truth is what you have is an inferiority complex. Maybe someone called you names in school because they were smarter than you and it made you feel small so you decided to get big. Maybe you got your ass kicked a lot and you needed to feel big to compensate. I don't care what the reason is, it's dumb. If you are truly superior, then why the need to defend your superiority? You being bigger or stronger than another man doesn't make you any better. Everyone is good at something right? So you may kill me on stage but even tho you out weigh me by 50lbs, I would light you the fuck up in a fight! You think im gonna stand there and let you lift me mufukr? Does that make me better? Fuck no! Why the need to make others feel small? Whether it's insulting their intelligence or their physique or age,...whatever! Why? Does that make you feel like a big man? It makes you a fuckin coward! What ever happened to humility? It is possible to find a balance between confidence and humility ya know! Everyone isn't on the same level with anything around here. I don't care if its age, cycle experience, physique, intelligence, skill set. We are all unique and all of us together make community great! It isn't a bodybuilding site. It's an AAS site. TRT guys, Power lifters, fighters, average joe who wants to look good naked. Nobody is better than the next man! The minute you start acting like you are, it just shows how truly inferior you feel. So the next time a guy who may have a little more experience or has razor sharp wits disagrees with you and makes a valid point, chalk it up and learn from it. Everone won't get along but who gives a shit? What the next guy eats doesn't make you shit! None of us knows everything or we wouldn't be here. Learn from each other. Take what you can and pass it along. You're forgetting what BFG had in mind when he made this site. Lets try to keep the integrity of our site in tact! None of us are better than the next guy/gal

I usually don't pay attention to a lot of posts like this but you nailed it! I prefer to avoid any drama on a forum. This place has so much information that moving on from drama to just doing random searches is very easy.

The concept here is easy. Share what you know, learn what you don't.

My boss gave me a great piece of advice a long time ago and it's probably the only reason I haven't been fired yet. Never send an email while angry. Same could be send here. Yes this is the internet and people love being "internet assasins" but there is still a human on the other end. If you get ticked off, chill out and come back and comment civilly if you even feel the need to respond. In my opinion, most things that tick me off aren't even worth responding to. I don't need the last word. My life will carry on if I don't prove my point.

Really nice post! Nitti! I totally agree this was a long time coming! Also the reviews I've almost been a year now! And I'm halfway retired I'm on here alot like all day and I've defintley notice a lot of this going on!!!

I agree with u, talking down to ppl shouldnt be tolerated which sadly im guilty of, and being humble is agood trait to have.. however knowing myself , i do go off on ppl when im provoked, im not proud of it. as a matter of fact i tried in the past to fix that , as its one of my bad habits, but i have made improvements over time .. now say someone being hostile (for no reason), its simply human nature to be hostile back, and thats excatly what happened w/ me..i dont randomly go around attacking members. infact all the memebers that i gotten in an argument with have provoked me in some way.. whether its insulting my intelligence level or talking about how i am shady or writing down my personal information which i didnt give them, or simply going off on me for writing a thread that expresses my opinion .. i do realize that my age contribute alot to my aggressive retaliation and i do apologize to u nitti.. bad traits yes.. we all have some.. and i ll try to be a better person..and from now on, if any member trys to provoke me, im just going to ignore and move on.. actually i ll also limit my posts, just because i know my nature, i have found that PMs are way better to get info, or to just chat w/ ppl i get a long with.. and in PMs , when advice is giving, people take it and they use it.

Xv, having been at the receiving end of one of your karma pts rampages, I have to say I'm glad to hear you say this.

Bro, you got talent, experience and knowledge in ass as well as youth. Leave behind the bully and embrace your inner teacher. You can achieve great things not being so quick to judge and being supportive of others rather than driving people away.

Nitti's picture

A lot of times ppl get negged by smart phones. Total accidents and the person doing it doesn't even know

ANBRO's picture

Maybe someone should let them know..

I think that whenever you feel like you are getting attacked by the superiority demons that it might help to play a game of soccer. Studies show that one game, one hour long, lowers test levels and gives even the most masculine of men feelings of girlieness and sexuality contemplation. I think I read that in a medical journal somewhere.
Hope that helps.
All my love, no homo.
Ed

You're right. At the end of the day soccer, or Football as we call it where I'm from, is a team sport that helps you bond with other players. Whereas ping pong is a solo sport that raises aggression and test weather you are winning or losing.

Nitti's picture

Ctfu! I love how your comments start off sounding so genuine and sincere and then the punch line! Fuckin awesome!! Agreed ,soccer will help feminize you.

Good post Nittster. Humility has always been a strong point for me. In fact I don't think there is a more humble guy on this site that myself. For some people it would be incredibly difficult to be me. I could look at myself and say: "damn Ed, you are way bigger than Nitti, way sexier, and if the fight went to the ground you'd handle nitty like a 14 inch weiner, but I don't see it that way. I see the fact that there are still people like Ronnie Coleman who is a little bigger than me, there are people like Cael Sanderson who may be able to beat me in a wrestling match on a good day, and there are men that are sexier than me. No one comes to mind, but I'm sure it will sometime.
I think we all need to remember that life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are going to get.

All my love no homo,
Ed

I always get the Whitman's Sampler... It has a chocolate indentification chart inside the box.

Nitti's picture

U know you're all homo bro! You need to start making some ed posts again. Shit is nutty around here

Engineereddisaster's picture

I know. I miss this place. Shits been crazy. I don't even make it out to Philly as I had initially planned.

Engineereddisaster's picture

Lol, perhaps I could have used a better analogy. Lol or at least put a no homo in there. Lol.
I am a modest bastard.

Iron_Addict0929's picture

I love it, good stuff!

Sadly I think that most of the negativity does come from the bodybuilding clique. There are a bunch who are humble and then some not so much. Bodybuilding / bodybuilders have always had that stigma about them. Personally, I know my fair share of cocky guys who compete and its absolutely embarrassing to be lumped in the same category as them. There are quite a few around my gym and I've done my best to distance myself from them just so I'm not thought of in the same light. I consider myself fairly humble. I grew up a fat kid who was always picked on and I honestly still see the same fat kid every time I look in the mirror. That's what keeps me coming back I guess. I'm very fortunate for the changes I've been able to make, but I would never take them for granted or belittle others because it can all be taken away at the blink of an eye.

In the grand scheme bodybuilders make up a small percentage of users. Everyone has their own reasons for using gear, no reason more important than the next. I'm here for knowledge sharing and interacting with a community that shares the same interests as me; since it's a taboo topic and can't be openly talked about in person. Completely agree that some guys need to slow the role with the bullshit and negativity. I can think of a few off the top of my head who place themselves on a pedestal and condescend.

I like the groups being bolded, damn people got their tongues in each others buttholes

kodiakGRRL's picture

why wouldn't you post anymore? You've always made good contributions to whatever it is you decided to comment on ? You are dedicated to your well being and improving your condition .. what more is there?

White Bolt's picture

Hey man, my hats off to you for staying dedicated to fitness and bodybuilding even though it would have been 100x easier to just accept you're getting older and given up on yourself like most do at your age.

Having multiple surgeries slowing you down sure doesnt help either. So what you're not 12% bodyfat and shredded. What matters is everyday you wake up and overcome adversity and hit the gym in the hopes of staying in shape as the years pass. Proud of you man.

Fuck whoever tells you otherwise.

Greg's picture

Make this a sticky!

White Bolt's picture

I agree, while even if superiority runs through your veins, stay modest and humble. It's like when I see skinny (or obese) kids lifting at the gym, nothing but props to them for being proactive on building a better self. Only a douchebag would go and make fun of that.

thinktank's picture

X2, well said my man. I Never make fun or put down the outa shape fellas at the gym. If anything, when I get the chance I encourage them. We all began somewhere or as something else. The more you help others achieve the more you expand your own horizons.

Nitti's picture

Wait, you mean he was human? And actually showed human complexity? Nah, I don't buy it.

Cheatnnature's picture

I did see some posts/replies that fit into this categories you speak of...it kinda made me upset or moreso feel bad for the person/s that were being smashed on. I really don't have the power here to step in but I have always been the guy to step in for the ones that need it. Hopefully we can all bind together and keep this site at 99% integrity. Lets admit 100% is impossible ;-). Nice post O G triple O!

Nitti's picture

Everyone won't get along and the bottom line is there are just douchebags everywhere. So it's just something that people have to learn to deal with. But here, on this site, at least we can keep it in check somewhat.

Cheatnnature's picture

That's the truth! This site would be outta control without those checks!

I gotta say this post is 100% true. Thank you.

Life is long if we're lucky. The lessons are learned the hard way! The things I remember most were not when I was riding high, but when I was at my lowest. I have it etched in my mind who kicked me when I was down, but more so who reached out a hand to help me back up!
