Post Op Workout Help
Hi Ladies!
I have a consultation coming up for a breast augmentation. I know I will be out of commission from lifting and especially from pulling or pushing. From what I have researched, typically to get back into lifting around the 6 month mark. I was curious if anyone has or knows where I can find some workouts for the time prior to getting back in the gym. From what I saw they say you can "get back in the gym" at 2 months but I know it does not pertain to how we train. I am thinking it will mostly be low level cardio? As well anything for when I can get back to a real lift session. Like can I still do heavy squats and legs? What about biceps? I really do not want to injure myself or worse shift the implants by going too hard too soon but just the thought of just being a cardio bunny for any length of time is not sitting well with me. Thank you for any advice, tips, and help you guys can provide!!

Thank you ladies for the support! Kinda feel like I'm a 12 step program, one meal, one workout, and one day at a time. That's all I can really do at this point. Keeping my head up
So now that the surgery is done I figured I would check in let you guys know how everything is going.
Surgery it's self was cake. Basically felt like I went crazy beast mode the day before on chest day. Skin tightness and it felt like someone duck taped wet sandbags to my chest. Days 2-4 just felt like I had a bra on that was way too small. Pitching and still tightness. Nothing I couldn't handle. It was a pain in the ass not being able to sleep on my side though.
Now I'm at the 'message' phase. Loving this time simply because I have an excuse to play my boobs as often as I can lol
I am dipping in and out of a mini depression however. I wasn't prepared for how hard not being able to lift would effect me. I have good and bad days. Sometimes its Fuck it I'll never train again and Fuck diet what's the point and others is gun ho cardio queen and strict on my macros. I still have 3-4 weeks of nothing but cardio per doctor's orders.
Right now I'm trying to keep myself busy with making a plan for when I get the green light to try lifting again. Also already planing my next cycle once I can get my strength back and feeling good!
AnonCongrats on the successful surgery! Take things one day at a time. I know you must be chomping at the bit to get back in the gym but let your body heal. You just spent a pretty penny on those fun bags, you don't want to damage it but doing too much to soon. It will be gym time before you know it and you'll be back to killing it! The mental aspect is the toughest. You're strong. You can handle it.
Thanks Blonde! It's a tougher course then I anticipated but I'm staying strong. I don't want all my hard work to this point go to waste.
Glad it went well. I'm sure it is hard not being able to lift, hell when I miss a few days I feel like total shit. Just remember you will get it all back! And have amazing boobs to boot
thanks for the update.. hang in there ;-)
Had mine done back in December....went to work 3 days later. Little pain! I went back to working out after the first month and was benching just after the two month mark. We are all different and recover differently, some take longer than others, and depends on if it is done over or under the muscle. Mine was done over the muscle because I told him I workout pretty hard and often. Plus if it was done under the muscle and you bench often, it could cause the implant to push out to the side (so I was told by the doctor).
Thank you Mrs Ice! Yeah I'm thinking I was way over thinking the recovery process, I have a tendency to over think things. It's bringing me a lot of hope that I'm not going to out of commission for too long.
Oh girl, you will be fine. I had mine done back in 1999. I didn't even take time off work. I had the surgery on Friday after work and was back on the job on Monday. I was a jet mechanic at the time, I didn't miss a beat.
It fucking hurts don't get me wrong you will want to die for about 3 days, but it's amazing how fast you heal. With in a few weeks you should be able to do a little, not what you were but something. I still cannot do a proper push up. Once the muscle is torn away to put the implant under it, it's never the same. My upper body strength is pretty sad. I think that's why most female BB's go above the muscle.
If you have any questions ask away, it was the best thing I ever did for myself! And 4 kids later they never looked better, the pass for real even doctors have to ask ;)
Thank you!! Jet mechanic?! Badass! Back to work on Monday? Ok maybe I am over thinking it lol. Luckily I just have a desk job so not too much to worry about.
My chest is pretty much one of my weaker muscles to begin with and I avoid push up like the plague lol
What type did you end up going with? I've lost pretty all tissue, think deflated balloons. So I am leaning towards silicon high profile round. Real-ness is out the window for me since I'm starting at an A on a good day. :(
I was flat as a board lol I went with saline, high pro-file round this was 1999 if I get them redone I would do silicone. Back then silicone was scary. I didn't take time off work because I was scared to tell my boss I was getting a boob job lol I was in the Air Force and I thought they would tell me I couldn't do it. I was 18, it's funny because everyone noticed on Monday.
I would say to go a little bigger then you think you want too. It sounds odd but once you have them, they look smaller. At first they seem huge, then you get used to it. My implants took me from an A to a C, 4 pregnancies added two or three more cup sizes. You should take your husband with you to the consult too, let him help you choose. You don't want to over do it, it's good to have help your husband and your doctor should be able to help you out.
I'm excited for you, I was so happy after my surgery I hugged the surgeon lol
Way to go Air Force! My Aunt served too, as well did most of my family in different branches, much respect!
I have heard to go bigger. I was originally set at 550cc but now I am thinking 600cc maybe even 650cc. Squadoosh is coming with me help out with sizing and learn how to do post op messages lol He'll be on cycle when I get them so I'm sure they will be getting plenty of attention.
I can't wait! Counting down days/hours I'm like a little kid going to Disneyland!
I got boob job done 6 monts ago. Round implants under the muscle. My chest muscle is very thick, couldn't go for the size i wanted and post op period was a torture. Have to admit- i didn't think its going to be that bad, pain was excruciating for 3 days, was constantly on pain killers. However, i got back to the gym after 5 weeks (i was told to stay off for 6 weeks, but couln't wait that long). I never do any cardio so i got back straight in to lifting. My first workout was legs and it went well, day later light upper body workout was not easy one
I didn't train chest for 2 months at all, first 4 weeks was not able to do tricep dips, chin ups, pull ups (after that just assisted). Bicep, shoulder, tricep (exept dips)training didn't give me any bother. 4 monts after the operation i was back to my normal training, no pain or tightnes in chest area.
Its hard to say how soon you can get back to training post op, we all are different. Depends how your body reacts to implants and how you feel.
Hope this helps
Take care!
Thanks a lot K! I'm a bid sissy when it comes to pain so I already figure the week after is going to be torture. You healed pretty quickly good to hear! Gives me hope about not having to be cardio only for what will feel like forever! lol
cardio... legs... arms to a certain degree, very strict form though .. possibly shoulder pressess ... go very light til you see how it affects your chest
Thanks Grrl! I swear you know everything ;) I am thinking no weight reps for awhile until I get a feel on how the new accessories.
you will have to pick exercises that isolate the muscle groups ... ie for tri's you wnt want to do dips because that will pull your pecs into the equation ..
Ok I understand. Thanks a ton! Will be doing a ton of research on exercises and muscle isolation
