Who is your hero
ad
Good Afternoon
I'm sure this has been covered a thousand times before but some times it good to shoot the breeze for no real reason.
Who was or is your body building hero and why?
For me it will always be Mike Mentzer without a doubt, yes i know some of his ideas were a little flawed but others are still standing the test of time today.
Plus anyone that refuses to conform and still does what he feels is right is aces in my book, and really isn't that what this game is all about.
Arnie has always come a close second.
Like i said not a post full of information nor education but just abit of fun.....................
Have a good weekend..

ClassyChassisI wouldn't say hero, but I think Jack LaLanne deserves a mention. He was promoting fitness to people, including women, on TV during the 50s. He designed the first leg extension machines, pulley machines using cables, and the weight selectors that are now standard in the fitness industry. He invented the original model of what became the Smith machine.
Arnold Schwarzenegger once stated, "That Jack LaLanne's an animal!," after LaLanne, at age 54, beat a 21-year-old Schwarzenegger "badly" in an informal contest. I always thought he was juicing, myself. I mean, in 1984 (age 70): handcuffed, shackled, and fighting strong winds and currents, he towed 70 rowboats, one with several guests, from the Queen's Way Bridge in the Long Beach Harbor to the Queen Mary, 1 mile.
LaLanne died of respiratory failure due to pneumonia at his home on January 23, 2011. He was 96. According to his family, he had been sick for a week, but refused to see a doctor. They added that he had been performing his daily workout routine the day before his death.
Frank Zane. I love the story of him building the foundation of his physique with a single 35lb dumbbell.

Frank Zane and Arnold are my two favs
Chuck Norris
My pops and Uncle actually... I grew up watching them prep for shows and train almost everyday... Just inspired me to go that route as well and i always thank them for that.
Of course Arnold, Jay and Ronnie had something to do with it.
Also all the vets here at eroids that compete and put out amazing info has me achieving more n more.. Love this fucking place. =)
I was not familiar with bodybuilding other than Arnold of course. As far as the term "hero" well I reserve that for something different. But I will list those that I greatly admire not just as bodybuilders but men. The reason why is because their counsel has bettered my health in such ways I would not have ever got there without them.
Viking, Bodybuilder, Nitti, Noid, Tread, Grrrl, Goth, NyJuice, Suzy B, BFG because without him I would never have met the others. I honestly can say these are the primary people who have educated me. I can actually name what I have learned from each one.
For instance Roid's diary on MENT use was huge, as there was very little written about MENT. And he ran it high so it gave a great inside perspective of the pros and cons.
So those are the ones I owe a big debt of gratitude for. Also other members as well but they have been the primary ones.
Interesting read bro
Arnold Schwarzenegger: he inspired me to lift at a young age.
Jay Cutler: I have a similar body type. So I admire him for being able to win the Olympia for his type of body and size.
CT Fletcher: he has an awesome attitude.

god
Not body building, but even bigger. Sgt Travis Mills. He lost all four limbs in Afganistan and shown resolve to live like no human I have ever seen. When I get complacent or whiney I remember what he has been thru and accomplished.
I should add , he was a beast at 6'4 and pretty well ripped before the explosion.
FRANK the body ZANE.
The GodFather of conditioning and still not really surpassed in my eyes, probably 15 years ahead of his game.
