+ 1 Mike Mentzer

ad

Hi everyone

Being a old fart I remember Mike Mentzer with great memories, as a young body builder back in the day it was Mike that really triggered me into this amazing sport and as im sat here bored out my brain while the wife watches rubbish on tv I just wondered which of the greats inspired you.

For me Mike Mentzer was one of the true greats and I still follow his work today.

I remember Predator in a huge way and I agree with you, for me it was his Conan film when I was younger.

Yates and Franco had immense thickness, I was never sure about Levrone. Cant take nothing from him he was just never my style but the start of a new generation of BB hybrid.

Tom platz, his dedication was impressive, the intensity of his leg workout routine prouve it.
To me he had the best legs ever!

I talk about Mentzer at our gym and some of his lifting principles and people are like who? Very smart bodybuilder who bucked the trend of the high volume workout of the time. I believe Dorian adopted some of his theories?

Its a shame more people don't know about Mike and how he influenced training methods, Mike Mentzer trained Dorian Yates and Dorian went on to design his own version of H.I.T.

I have always followed Mikes form of training and adapted it to my own style but its not that much different as the original way works so well.

Another interesting body builder like Mike was Casey Viator who trained with Mike and Ray Mentzer and were both heavily connected with Arthur Jones and the Colorado experiment.
