Also, if you're using online wallets, you don't need to worry about the IP address being tracked. Technically the site hosting your online wallet could get your IP, but that's highly unlikely. Solution = Send bitcoins using the "anonymous" through blockchain.info to another online wallet, then those BTC are clean.

There are many options for Sending Anonymously. If you use blockchain.info to host your online wallet. Underneath the "send" tab, you'll see there's a menu named "anonymous" when you use this, the transaction will be untraceable between the sender/receiver. They do charge a 1.5% fee for this. There are also many alternative services that do the same. We like the blockchain option the best.

Also, nobody here should be worried about sending the money to themselves. Once you're sending the money somewhere that you don't want anyone to know about, that's when you use an anonymous sending option like the option above.

If you were to send money from one specific address to another specific address over and over and over then you certainly raise your risk of being identified. Especially if that address has received a deposit from your bank account. Looking at the block chain information you would only know the two bitcoin addresses, and the specific bitcoins that were sent. If you purchase bitcoins, and send them to a disposable address then tracking to original payer is entirely unprovable, because who is to say that address doesn't belong to another person. Anyone can literally generate millions of addresses and wallets without any direct connection to them.

As far as tracking your ip. Use a neighbor's wifi, or internet cafe, or get a free vpn proxy. All of those remove your personal location. But, with my very limited "black hat" knowledge I don't see much of a way to readily identify targeted transactions in contrast to regular transactions, because there is no reason to assume a-priori that one specific address will receive these funds to do whatever.

Cash requires two people in physical presence, and that is far more telling about someone than a randomly generated cryptographic address between two parties or multiple parties across thousands of miles. Spatial and temporal correlations do not imply causality. If you like cash they have paper wallets, and you can mail them to anyone, or sit on a plain with 1 billion dollars on a bitcoin wallet in your jacket pocket and fly to the Cayman Islands.

I do agree with you that if you are reckless with bit coins you could set yourself up for failure, but I haven't heard any stories of anyone being pursued even if they were reckless, because proving what they bought is impossible. If anyone was sending some serious cash then they need to take some extra precautions.

It is considered pseudo-anonymous. With casual usage, it is not very anonymous at all. Transactions occur between cryptographic addresses and anyone can create any number of these addresses. However, Bitcoin transactions can be traced back to your IP address. The history of all transactions can be analyzed for spatial and temporal correlations. If one address can be linked to a person, then related transactions can be identified. I would say that bitcoin offers a degree of privacy not offered by other means of online payment, but for a sufficiently motivated entity, it is possible to reconstruct a person's bitcoin transaction activity. There are steps that one can take to make it more anonymous, but it is certainly not as anonymous as physical cash. And, you have to know what you're doing to use it in complete anonymity. I would not advise using bitcoin if you are seeking complete anonymity.

Everything in life leaves a paper trail wether it been likes of code or actual paper trail.there is always a trail. When you send money it's always going to have a link to who's account you send it to and then they can slowly trace that account back to a location through all the lines of bull crap to fake addresses. Most of the time they can trace who and where you send the money. All they would have to do simply is send a warrant for all the info of the company of the wallet you have through. Even if the had a TOS for covering up there account holders sooner or later they can get the info like they did to a large online gaming website that built programs to play the game for ppl the owners made over 7 mil in 4 years in profit but in the end the game company finally won and the owners had to give up all the info to everyone. They were able to even trace me using ip's from china to cover up my end and running a ip hat changed every hr on the hr for my own purpose but in the end the went through my line of codes and dug up my real ip and sent me a letter saying the could sue but were giving all the debs and users a second chance as we were pulled in by the owners. So in the end all is traceable. Just bitcoins is less traceable at the time. Once ppl start payin more attention and using it for our purpose and other illegal things it will be much easier to see where we sent our bitcoins and so on

It's arguably more anonymous than cash.

MAC's picture

Ya what are u talking about? It's traceable as in they could know you bought the actual bitcoin but there is no trace of what/where you spend the bitcoin. Unless u know something we don't..?

HeavyHitter's picture

I dont know much about it i was looking it up on youtube an they said it was 100 % !! Thats why i posted this to get some thoughts on it ive never used it !!!

HailRazor's picture

I think everything is traceable but with such programmings apps as TOR, where is it traced to. Not a physical address. BUFF BADGER has some good articles and links about this subject. Eventually most top sources will have to do away with 'WU' because of security reasons so we should all be exchanging info about BC.

HeavyHitter's picture

I dont like WU ... I agree with you on exchanging info .. Iv never heard BC till a month or so ago ..

HailRazor's picture

It's been around for quite awhile. You might google 'silk road'. This anonymous 'site' has used it for quite some time.

HeavyHitter's picture

I was looking at that on youtube just now ..

i think money grams in perfect, i hate western union, but the more options the better IMO
