+ 5 Warming your oil safely

ad

Its often mentioned that folks warm their gear so the oil thins. Easier dissipation from pinned area, less pip...etc. Long ago warming was pretty mandatory but as brewing became more mainstream theres been less pip forums or real need to warm or worry.

We dont want to get it hot to where it ruins the hormone or our own muscles by burning. Its simply to... thin the viscosity.

Rice bags!

I pop my bag warmer in the microwave for 90 seconds and simply wrap it around my vial so top is up and no chance of heat causing oil to come out prior pin holes spots. If i place my pin in the wrap i make sure to have cap on and i slide it back into the sterile wrapper first. I even pull in half cc so its not gonna expand and drip oil.

The oil should be only warm enough to thin as mentioned above. Our body temp is 98.6 and burning muscle fiber can hurt. If barrel to lips feels nice...its ready. Just same as we test baby bottle.

If theres PIP after any pin....use the rice bag to warm the muscle. Again, bloodflow does its job and youre not damaging fibers by massaging area. I like to pin early in the day so moving, Gym etc gets blood flow to pin area.

HAPPY PINNING

An important note do not warm the oil before drawing into the syringe. Warming the oil causes it expand therefore you will effectively be decreasing your dosage. 1ml of heated oil is not equal to 1ml of room temp. Most of us are following dosage protocols which will otherwise get thrown off. What I do is heat up a cup of water. I then place the syringe in the cup with the needle facing up. The needle at no point is submerged under water. I make sure the plunger of the syringe is pulled all the way back to allow the oil to expand without pushing oil through the needle. I let it sit in the hot water for a few minutes. I then remove it when I am ready to inject. Do not dilly dally on injecting yourself. You should already have the injection site prepped before removing the syringe from the water. The reasoning for this is the oil cools down quickly which will make this entire exercise pointless.

I boil the water for this process. I don't heat it to 98. I heat it to 212 degrees. Boiling the water will kill all pathogens. I want to have the lowest viscosity possible otherwise what is the point. When you heat the oil in the syringe at the temperatures that I do, it will most definitely throw off your dosage measurements. If all you're doing is 98 degrees, the discrepancy in dosage would be minimal. Now as I said before the oil cools down quickly so I am not injecting oil into me that is at high temperatures. I can't say for sure what the temperatures are but I don't feel any pain when injecting myself.

I think I remember a story problem like this in high school. Math is fun Lol

Do any of them come with wings? Any plus sizes?

I like the one with the pink flowers.

White rice, brown rice, or wild rice?

I hadn't heard of this method before, but seems like it'd work great. Warm oil definitely runs smoother than cooler oil. Gotta love that comic book rice bag
