SLAP tear, Shoulder
ad
Ok, what do you guys know about slap tears "superior labral tear from anterior to posterior"? MRI indicated I have one but Dr. is convinced it is a minor tear. No pain, just lateral movement is a little tight.Lost 60 % strength in lateral and front strength as well as bicept 40%. Doing Tens and Ultra Sound with light weight training.
Question, is there a full recovery in your experience with proper PT. have recovered some and can now use 35 lb dumbbell one set of 15 before other muscles kick in. While only able to use 5 lb on side lateral, front is 20.

In 2008 I had dislocated my shoulder several times..the repetitive dislocation resulted in in labrum tear and a front piece of my socket to be broken.. i ended up having surgery. They grafted bone from a cadaver and gave me labrum anchors,, about a year later my shoulder was back at about 80% .. still have full range of motion and continue to over head press..it just gets right every now and again.the shoulder is a pretty tricky thing, take care of it while its still minor..I wish you the best in your recovery bro
If its only minor it could respond to the therapy but the labrum has limited blood flow so it doesnt heal as well as other parts of the body. You could get some relief and continue on training but they will probably tell you never to do any overhead pressing movements because that aggravates and causes these types of injuries along with throwing. Long term if you get chronic pain and therapy does not work you can get surgery. The surgery is very successful and involves sutures and anchors to repair the labrum much like what Drew Brees had done a few years back and we see how well his surgery responded. Unfortunately the way it works from my experience is that with docs and insurance companies you have to follow their protocol which involves trying to solve the problem the easiest way first i.e. therapy. Good luck bro.
Would hgh help the recovery process?
I mean tendon/ligament repair is what would be considered an "off-label" use of hgh but there is anecdotal evidence out there that people use it for this and even sports team doctors using it for that so conceivably it could help. But there are no real studies to my knowledge supporting that it heals torn tendons.
