+ 1 Seriously cannot sleep. HELP ME please

ad

Ok, I'm about halfway through a var cycle. 15mg ed, I'm never tired. It started a few weeks ago, I tried the simple remedies tea and herbals it worked once lol Then I moved on to OTC sleep aids, all worked for a night or two. Then I had my Doctor prescribe some ambeien it worked for about a week.

Now nothing works, and by nothing I mean doubling doses, killing myself on the bike/treadmill, reading boring books, taking a hot bath, NOTHING. Even after I wake up after a night of no sleep I'm not tired. To be perfectly honest, I feel like I'm on a light dose of ritalin. No shakes, but I'm overly alert.

This has to be stealing some of my gains. Plus I really want to sleep, I like sleep. 2 weeks ago I decided it might be diet so I gave up caffeine and sugar. I do not take any pre-workout or any stimulant of any kind. My diet is clean, my bedroom is dark and comfy. WTF is going on. I feel fine all day, just no sleep I go to bed at 10 fall asleep by 11ish but then wake up around 3am and it's all downhill from there.

Any ideas?

You are all so awesome, SERIOUSLY this place is so helpful. I took most of the advice, I read every reply and I am thrilled to say I am sleeping way better.

I started a vitamin C supplement 3 times a day like Vike suggested. I stopped taking the Var at night, that sucked at first but my body got used to it. I take it all in the morning now. I added a fan, and opened a window. That combined with kicking the sugar and caffeine has done it. I also started the no carbs after 2 thing.. I have ADD, I can't do just one thing I have to do them all lol

For the last 4 days I have woke up only once, and it's normally noise related which I'm sure is just a side effect of motherhood. I am still taking an herbal to get to sleep, but I'm ok with that.

Look into taurine. I started adding it to my bedtime vitamin bla bla mix. I noticed it made me SO tired. Coincidentally a few days into doing this I started reading into taurine in more detail and came across a post here in which good ol' Viking himself advocates the use of taurine as a sleep aid. Among its other benefits. Yes its in energy drinks, and as Viking explains, as a part of your preworkout it'll get you amp'd up. But pre bed it'll wind you down. Quite a lot actually. I can't sleep worth a shit EVER without some help. Melatonin does the trick but I have to cycle it. Right now prami is gently hitting me over the head with a "go to sleep fucker" bat. And I love it. But once I'm done with npp I'll be done with prami. And I'll be looking to taurine to put me to sleep. And my little pink fan by my bedside for the white noise.

Tldr: try taurine. 2-3 grams. Start low of course. Primaforce makes a powdered version dirt cheap for a ton of it. Gmp made. Good luck.

Blood pressure? are you checking it? what was it off cycle and what is it now?

Also how experienced with HGH are you? I have extreme sleep sides from growth. Worse then you describe on 3iu, worse then trensomnia.

UgtaBkdNme's picture

My blood pressure is low as always, I see a Dr far more often than a normal person. (twice a month) They check damn near everything when I walk through the door.

I'm in the experimental stage with HGH. I've been on it for 4 months. I have tried different dosages, and pinning times. At the moment I am pinning .5iu ED that seems to be working well with no sides. I want pharma grade, but I will use this stuff up first.

I am curious as to why I am so alert and awake. I have a Ritalin prescription so I know this feeling, but I went off the Ritalin weeks before starting the cycle. Taking it with the var seemed like a bad idea. I do not have shakes like I would with Ritalin but I feel the same level of awake KWIM? It's almost midnight and I am up because I forgot to make my tea or take any melitonan... I better go do that lol

Ambien is an initial go-to drug prescribed when OTC drugs do not work. I would suggest asking your physician to prescribe Trazadone or Restoril. Trazadone typically has fewer side effects, particularly the pshychologic/amnesiac type that come with Ambien. Restoril is a bit stronger, and should only be conisdered if you are desperate. Have you tried Benadryl 25-50 mg? Like melatonin, it works for some and not others. It can also cause groginess, depending on the individual. For example, It works wonders for me, whereas melatonin does nothing. PM me if you need any further advice.

I've been through the gammit with most big long word pharma pills. I have a script for benadryl but while on cycle I try to be as free of other things as possible. Better safe than dead ya know Smile

birdbear27's picture

Bro. You don't cover up a problem that stems from drug use with more drug use. That's ALWAYS a last resort AND its not your place to suggest. There's way too many variables involved. No one aside from the persons physician can prescribe treatment like that. Sleep medications are a slippery slope and often times lead to more issues. Careful with that talk or your stay here will be short.

I'd watch slanging those type of suggestions in open forum especially in conjunction with AAS.

I went through the same thing for a while, i would sleep a hour wake up, sleep a hour , wake up... got a toal of 4-5 hours sleep each night but was fine all day, just would get tired early like 8pm, goto bed by 9pm and repeat all over again. I think as long as your not falling asleep during the day or driving, you should be fine if you really want to finish out your cycle. after a long while my sleep issues just seemed to stop abruptly. Now i actually wish i had the problem, again, bec when i wake at 3am now to start my day and go lift i am tired but when i wasnt sleeping good, i would wake at 3am and be ready to roll wide awake...

Phoenix Rising's picture

Have you found a solution? I just assumed sleep is for the weak. Lol just kidding. I cannot ever sleep either. Rather the hubby is at work at night or home. Its always like 3-4am before I finally can sleep. I can run off 4 hours of sleep and be good. I know sleep is important part of staying fit when working out but I have tried everything! I know it sucks:/

UgtaBkdNme's picture

Yes ma'am see update above Smile

gambit's picture

did doc run any tests? id be worried something is out of whack in the blood panel.

Nitti's picture

Sleep is for broke ppl!

kodiakGRRL's picture

oh.. to sleep.. to dream..

yeah ok I don't sleep much ... most days it doesn't seem to matter and some days it is like walking through cheese.. off cycle, on cycle.. neither is better or worse.. I ve used melatonin and to some degree it has helped..other than that I just find things to do .. which considering what I do there is always something ..

alayna's picture

Same thing happened to me i stopped taking the Var...problem solved....one of the other women had the same problem running 10 mgs too...she cut down to 5 said problem was better....i haven't tried the 5 mgs a day to see if the insomnia goes away but maybe you can and hope for the best...otherwise you gotta make a choice

UgtaBkdNme's picture

Yeah, I started taking it all in the AM that seems to have helped.

Weakclumzoof's picture

wow it seems ruthless the way you have gone at this problem from trying things to suspecting a culprit and cutting it out of your diet excellent have you tried calcium and magnesium

UgtaBkdNme's picture

Nope, I haven't really looked into supplements that's one of the reasons I posted. My natural reaction is always to medicate, but when that fails... LOL I guess I should look at everything else first and medicate last.

Nitti's picture

You are actually getting a good 5 hours in. I know bodybuilders are big on their rest but it's overrated. We don't need 8 hours every night to be healthy. You're saying that you have already moved on through OTC sleep aids and now even prescription strength sedatives aren't working? Sheesh! Kinda ran through and exhausted all your basic options. I don't know that there is anything else you can do other than just take the 5-6 hours and rock out with it. That is a lot of sleep imo. There are things you probably aren't aware of that could be extremely beneficial to your overall health ,...including healthy sleep pattern or firing on all cylinders with minimal sleep. The key lays in that ugly disgusting yellow fat we hate so much. If you have any interest, get back to me and i'll elaborate. Too much to do right now.

UgtaBkdNme's picture

This isn;t my first rodeo with a lack of sleep so I just had to call my Dr and they mailed me meds. If it were a solid 5 or 6 hours I would be happy but it's a lot of tossing and turning not a good deep sleep. I sent you a FR, I would like you to elaborate Smile

WINNING's picture

You wouldn't happen to have a male in your bed during your time of restlessness? You need a tension release and possibly put to sleep. Massage, candles, soft music...You get the picture;)

UgtaBkdNme's picture

I sleep better when he is home for that reason. But his job leaves me home alone a few nights a week, those are the worst.

Sumatra_Triangle's picture

I went a few years with only like 2-3 hours average after the war in iraq 2003. Even working hard and still nothing.
Was really depressed and such.

I found out there were many problems. But I didn't feel tired ever.

I find a roll in the hay with my boo helps. Nothing wrong with a glass of wine and some canibus either. In moderation. So basically I think you need to party LOL

I hope you get some melatonin and GABA, as well I hope your taking a full range of amino acids!!!

UgtaBkdNme's picture

A lot of people have recommended pot, I think I am allergic lol I tried it twice in my lifetime and both times I ended up very ill. Once it put me in the hospital. Odd I know.

Sumatra_Triangle's picture

WTF. I'm sorry to hear that.
Are you doing alot of cardio... and I mean alot is like 120 min a day. I'm a Chef and can work 12 hours on feet no break, BREAK MY ASS MOVING ASS FAST AS POSSIBLE FOR HOURS Dinner Smile }

Here I'll smoke some right now. Yum Kush Smile

Time to go wake my girl up with a "Suprise" ;)

Nitti's picture

Nope, I am very much the same. It makes me violently ill as well. Vomiting, nausea, hallucinations etc

This guy named Michael Jackson had a great drug protocol for sleep. Let me see if I can track it down for you! ;-)

Mrs Ice had to cut her Var dose from 20mg to 10 split ED, she was having the same issue with sleep. FR her.

edit: I was not aware of the Vitamin C trick. Thanks big guy!

UgtaBkdNme's picture

That is an absolute last resort. I wonder if taking it at bedtime is part of the problem.

thanks, funny how this old post got resurrected a couple days ago, now it's back from the grave again.

VIKING EVOLUTION's picture

must be that haunting time of year when nobody sleeps... lol

Lostlifter's picture

When I was pinning Tren EOD, and having Trensomnia, I would wake insignificant other and go for "THE BIG O". Even when I wouldn't finish the act itself would route me out enough to catch a few more hours of sleep before work.

UgtaBkdNme's picture

Sadly I lost that option about a week ago. For women a side of Var can be losing your ability to climax. crys Being sexually frustrated is not helping the situation but I am finishing this cycle!!

2500hd's picture

Had 3 girlfriends that did not have this problem it actually made them more sensitive. Are u sure it's var?

Sumatra_Triangle's picture

Boom! I think that's it !!!
If I ever lost my sexual appetite or libido etc I would immediately cycle off. Hey I guess that's just me. I didn't even lose my libido when getting shot at in Iraq. I finished, my my helmet on and returned fire. Bad etiquette to fire at a marine in his bag!!!
