New test vial leaking
I received a package in the mail today with some new gear from a domestic source. This was my first order from them and everything came quick and very reasonably priced.
When I opened the package I could immediately smell the oil. I opened the box from one vial which was fine but when I opened the second vial it clearly had some type of oil coming from the cap. I opened the safety lid and there was a pool of oil on the stopper and oil around the lid and the safety cap. I cleaned everything off of the stopper and tried shaking the bottle and slapping it on my hand to see where it was leaking from but nothing comes out. I’m confused as to where the oil had leaked from.
I did email the sender and am waiting on a response but this doesn’t sound like something I should put in my body. Anyone have any info or suggestions on this? I’m of course hoping the source sends me another bottle.

It's more than likely expansion/pressure as Greg suggested, but there is also the possibility that some oil was spilt on the cap while the vial was being filled. You hook up a pin to a syringe, stick it in the top just far enough to penetrate the stopper and if it pushes the plunger up you will know that it the inside of the vial is in fact pressurized.
I'd wait to hear what the source had to say.
expansion/pressure...
due to freezing.
altitude changes
The crimp should have never let it leak if the stopper was set correctly and crimped correctly.
Put a can or bottle of soda in the freezer and tell me how that works out... Then write coca-cola and complain they are not bottling their sodas correctly.
That’s too logical and too much common sense to understand that.
Does it have a clear cap
Source is sending a new vial anyway. Said has been happening with prop specifically. Maybe because it’s thinner liquid and getting shook up too much while being transported. Just wanted to know if anyone had this happen before and if it would be contaminated. I’m just gonna get rid of it to be safe
Probably using cheap stoppers..........
It may be a bad seal. If the crimp looked good then the seal may be folded under then crimped causing a small leak. Seen it a few times. When in doubt throw it out.
TronWhatever, pmob. You're just making stuff up.
Naaaaaaaa I’ve seen it before a few times.
RustyhookerLong time no see!
Wait and see what the source says.
If your going to complain do it on his si.
That’s why they have them.
Yeah like I said I emailed him already. Just wanted to get some input on whether this happens to anyone and if it’s good to use or not. It’s going in the trash anyway though.
Rustyhooker^^^^^bingo. Dont use.
