MRI Results - Freaked out!
Well, I had an MRI to check my back out since I've had alot of issues with it this year. I have had a few bulging discs so I'm not seeing anything new on that front but two things that showed up are new and have me a bit tweaked.
One finding says "there is a large T2 bright rounded focus associated with the left kidney which statistically may represent a renal cyst"
The other says "Dark T1 and T2 bone marrow signal which is often seen in benign processes such as osteoporosis, smoking or obesity (FYI, I'm not obese nor do I smoke), however, correlation the CBC might be of further value to be certain a myeloproliferative process is not present.
In a quick search is sounds like that is to rule out any type of cancerous issue.
My biggest question is could either of these be linked to AAS? Just the slight notion of cancer freaks me the fuck out. I wouldn't be so worried if I have seen that before on an MRI (and I've had many) but I've dealt with new pain and coincidently, now I have new findings. Any input or sedatives would be greatly appreciated

Thanks everyone. I realized worrying wasn't going to do me any good so I'll see what the doctor things and go from there. I expected degenerative changes so tend to believe the bone marrow issue is exactly that and nothing more. If anything changes I will def. Update. Thanks again. I let my head get the best of me after reading that.
The focus of the MRI was to evaluate your back. The findings for that system are what is really valid for that diagnostic. The report as you have quoted also noted incidental and as old head described completely non-specific findings which are not diagnostic of anything. Renal cysts are common and usually cause no problems. Renal carcinoma is unlikely at your age and your doctor can follow up with more imaging down the road to see if it grows or displays any worrisome features that warrant further testing.
Although not impossible, its also unlikely you have a myeloproliferative disorder at your age and because they would likely have noted increased spleen size. A simple blood count would basically rule that out. The list of things, benign and bad, that cause T1 signal MRI changes in lumbar MRI is about 20 things and among the least reproducible are predicting hematologic disease involvement. Myeloma is really not one of those things. You're also too young for that and that would more often cause lytic/ destructive lesions in the cortex of the bone.
Based on what you've posted, overall i would not be very worried about the report, but do follow through with whatever instructions of additional testing your providers have recommended. And to answer your question, no, there is only anecdotal discussion of association of AAS with cancer but there is nothing published proving AAS use and/or abuse increase the risk of cancer.
I would definitely try to stay calm until you get your blood work back. This will help determine if there is a malignancy, lack there of, some other benign process, or most likely, nothing at all!
I know how hard it is to stress over these findings and what ifs. Believe me when I say that the mind is a powerful tool. If you fully believe you have some disease, it will be only a matter of time until that disease shows up. Stay strong and keep nothing but positive thoughts in your mind!
ClassyChassisI wouldn't worry about it. So you have some degeneration in your first and second thoracic vertebrae. And you have imaging that statistically "may" represent a cyst. Neither of these things have to do with AAS or cancer either one. I think you may be overreacting.
Are they planning a biopsy on the cyst? I had a family member with kidney cancer it is very rare compared to other cancers. Did you have blood work done? If you want to talk just pm me.
I wouldn't worry too much about it bro. It's probably just normal degenerative type shit that happens to all of us as we age. As far as the cyst goes, I wouldn't worry too much about that either because benign cyst are really really common and most people don't even know that they have them. Talk to your doctor about the results but I highly doubt it's anything worth worrying over
waltrI'd go get a colonoscopy...
And for the record, the logical side of me says, chill the fuck out. It's probably arthritis. I was diagnosed many years ago with degenerative disc disease so it's not far fetched to have developed further.
Having a f'd up back sucks sometimes. 90% of the time it doesnt bother me when there are so many issues rolled into one, it's defeating.
I was highly considering TRT but now I'm scared AAS may have done this to me. Although I don't really see how that's possible or how they could be related.
I vote "trust your logical side." I know sometimes it feels like the only thing you want to do is freak out.
Follow through with the testing and they will be able to make a determination. Good luck to you bro.
Just to set my mind at ease I've called the doc to call me back. If he has concern he'll call me in. If not, I won't worry. From what I know, any hint of cancer docs usually act swiftly so I will have to trust the medical system on this.
The C word is a scary ass word! I've watched family members battle it in many different forms and it's not something I want to deal with (nor does anyone). I'd rather a back full of blown discs that's for sure.
It's unfortunate there have been zero long term studies on the effects of aas, even though they've been around for so long. Hard tellin not knowin. Fuckin politics man.
I don't know what it all means brother, have you thought about getting in a good cycle of HGH, maybe that would help?
TB500 seems pretty good too
waltrif he has cancer hgh can actually make it spread faster...not a good idea
They haven't proven that to my knowledge. What if the cells being regenerated are the ones that fight cancer?
waltrI don't have the balls to take that risk personally, I've had too many people I know never come back from cancer.
I hear you on that, but I do wonder about it.
waltrI don't want to jack this guys thread, but clinically researching gh for cancer patients just seems like a risk in my opinion. I think with the amount of cancer out there these days if it was a viable option it would have been done in a controlled lab with scientists to study the process already. Then again, I haven't researched it so for all I know it may have been done already.
