Keeping gains after surgery.
ad
Hi there, i had a surgery last week and my DR. instructed me to specifically not to lift things that weigh over 8 pounds for atleast 4 weeks and then i can begin slowly. In 8 weeks i should be fully recovered and should be able to excersize using my normal routines.
The thing i dread most is loosing hard earned muscle mass.
Any advice?

Came across this article discussing what happens to your body when you are out of the gym for an extended period
http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/6-body-disasters-that-strike-when-your-t...
RustyhookerI broke both elbows a few years ago. My biggest error was eating like I did all massed up. Worst mistake! !
Muscle memory is very real. Forget being worried on mass loss. If I did it all over again I'd stick to a cutter type diet. Low carbs with good proteins and healthy fats. Mass is easy! Dropping 20% bf is a damn hardcore horrible place to be. Clean clean and stay lean.
If you can stationary bike, do it. Keep metabolism up. Don't cheat your rehab and reinjure.
It sucks man. I didn't have surgery but I got really sick for 3 months this spring a lost a lot of size. Strength came back pretty quick, muscle is taking a bit longer. It will come back bro. A lot faster then when you first put it on that's forsure. Just keep your protein high and your diet right. That's all you can do. And you'll be fully back in 8 weeks and an slowly ease back in 4. Not long at all man don't sweat it .
If you already have mature muscle, you will be fine. I had to take 12 weeks off and didnt seem to really notice a change in size and density until week 8. Weeks 8-12 were a bummer though.
I had a routine surgery last year with a similar downtime. Keep your protein intake to 1.5g per pound of bodyweight and as GS said below, follow doctors orders. Muscle memory will bring you back within 8 weeks of lifting again so don't sweat it.
And please don't jump straight onto a cycle as soon as you're able to start lifting again. Build your base first.
Thank you, no i wont jump into a cycle just yet will take another 4 weeks off ( a total of 12 weeks + 4 weeks pct with ester weight not included.) since i just finished my pct.
Thank you for the advice brother !
Yeah bro follow dr orders. I would do some walking if that's ok. Stick to cardio and diet for now just to be safe. 8wks isn't too bad. Better safe than sorry
Yes brother, ill stick to some walking
Thanks again!
