Has anyone ever had one of these? I dont have insurance at the moment and I'm scared to lift too heavy in the gym now. Some people say its fine and its a minor hernia and others say it should be taken care of right away? any advice? I started wearing a belt under my shirt to hopefully "hold in my intestines" while I work out lol...any other suggestions on working out?

I had one as a child. Now I do not have a belly button.
I had one, bellybutton popped out and it was a little bit painful but not as bad as sliding ingual hernia when I was 24.pain would put Me down.I hang drywall for a living so even outside the gym I am straining muscles all day long. Doctor told me to wait 4-6 weeks before returning to work or gym after umbilical surgery.had to return to work sooner (father of 4) about 2 and a half maybe 3 weeks. Played it safe waited 6wks.before returning to the gym.surgery was november no problems since recovery 1inch scar beneath bellybutton 1 week hunched over during recovery...feels weird after its done but not a big deal. Don't wait though its ur body...disrespect it....it will disrespect u back x3.
Yeah, I had one. It never really bothered me--no pain, but it looked like shit. Like I had a little alien ready to burst out. I had it for a few years before I got insurance and got it fixed, but I wasn't lifting-- was fat with a beer belly.
I had Kaiser insurance, which is a very stingy organization. They will NOT do anything unless it is really necessary, and they said I should fix it. Dr said even though it is not hurting now, my intestines could shift and get a kink, blocking flow.
If that happened, it would be an emergency surgery. So I got it fixed--they used mesh---and that was that. Easy operation, quick recovery.
Bottom line, you will be fine unless you get a piece of the intestine trapped in it, which given the fact that you are in shape, shouldnt be too likely. But if you can get insurance, then you should probably get it fixed.
Thought they cut that off when you are born?
jk. That sucks bro
There is a new invention made by a company called Polypore. It is called extra cellular matrix. They scrape the cells off a pig bladder and what is left is the extra cellular matrix. They then use your stem cells to make a new body part. They used this to make part of a man's trachea. Also to grow part of a new finger. It even had the same fingerprint. New skin was grown over a man who was badly burned. It may be possible to use this to fix a belly button hernia. There was a program on the Nat Geo channel about this.
I had one for a few years and it never really got any worse nor did it bother me until right before i had it fixed.. wasn't really pain just felt weird... The Dr fixed it commented how well the muscle looked and that he didn't even have to use mesh to fix it.. that was 4o lbs ago.. glad i got it fixed when i was in better shape,, what ever he did is holding up well now that fat ass is back in the gym...
sgtstedankoDo what you can, brother. I was told that Lots of guys can work around em. I've had abdominal, reg hernias b4, & they both needed surgeries after a while. The abdominal 1being worst. It would drop me to a knee : ( sit in the hot tub after workouts...
I am 30. I got one when I was about 17 lifting for football. You could see a very slight bulge just right of my belly button. It never caused any pain, just concern. Doc told me not to worry about. It healed, but my abs are just a little more thick just to the right of my belly button and i can feel something there. I am a huge mofo, fatter than I should be, just thick and wide. I have lifted very heavy over the years and have never felt any sensations there except for heavy dead lifts.
are you a newborn?
