+ 1 I’m fat!

ad

So yes I knew I was fat. And I could give a million reason why, but I’ll skip that and just get some opinions from my new friends! I posted a photo of my numbers from the gym I goto. Not good! Not all bad but not good! If you don’t know how to zoom on a photo I’ll tell you that I’m 30% body fat!!! I knew it was bad as I said before but WOW! So my question is do u think with just alittle drive a little discipline and just being in the gym more than never!!! I’ll say 3times a week just getting going again and not eating fast food and cutting pop or most the pop out of my diet will be enough? I’ve never been this fat I mean after the army when I was working out I couldn’t put on weight. The most I weighed was like 186. But heart attack being in a coma depression and a child let me down a road I thought I’d never return from! But a divorce has gave me a major change of outlook look on life look at me talking about poor me after I said I wouldn’t but I guess I wanna ask is what’s ur opinion on is it likely that just by working out and cutting fast food and pop outta ky diet will help me to loose the few lbs that I need and want to loose or should I look into Reta? I feel like that’s alittle excessive but I gotta ask and sense I’m 30% body fat I know N AI probably will be needed and that’s on the way as well but is this a pull I need to take everyday? And I am doing my own research but with my multiple TBIs my brain sometimes doesn’t work so well when trying to find the articles I need. I’m on here everyday reading and reading so I’m trying to get this right. Ok one more thing they sell a book on a source website it’s like 450 pages about AAS has anyone bought this or read this book is it something I should buy? Ok thanks boy!

So sense I’ve posted my first two dexa scans from my gym I might as well keep on posting. So here’s the newest one. I’m at 17% bf from over 30 just 2 months ago as well as my visceral fat is down to 4.6 rom 10.8 and im up over 20 lbs in lean body mass. If I said how easy it was it might make some people mad, but all I did was cut out the bullshit food and make going to the gym every day thing and Im keeping the diet as easy as possible protein oatmeal in the am one cup of coffee 4 hard boiled eggs and a fruit at lunch and chicken and a starch for dinner all water. It was easy you just gotta find your rhythm then still with it. I still park my truck as far away in the parking lot everywhere I go unless I’m with my daughter and between every set I’m walking laps idc if it’s packed and ppl think I goofy. Cause there’s a reason why I now have two photos on the weight wall at my gym. 9% and 12% bf lost and ima have Abs before summer. Not for summer…. Before summer!

So good news. I’m a month in! The recommendations you have recommended are working I’m down 10% body fat in a month while going from 210 to 214 but muscle weights more than fat. Or so they say! I’m really honing in on my diet. Keeping it very simple! No more pop or sugar outside of fruits. My caffeine is from black coffee with some protein powder mixed with alittle low fat milk protein oatmeal in the moring steak and chicken for lunch followed by a few eggs for dinner. Over and over! I park in the parking spot at the very end of the parking lot! And I’m in the gym everyday! 30 mins of cardio on the treadmill followed by weight training for around and hour then finishing everyday at the gym with my a sprint walk sprint for 25 mins in 2.5 min intervals and 5 min cool down and puke fest walk 2+ hrs I’m proud of myself cutting out all the fast food pop all the junk I feel better mentally and physically thanks for the support everyone

Brother, first off, serious respect. What you’ve already done matters more than you think. Cutting soda and fast food, showing up consistently, and just moving again is exactly why the numbers are changing. Dropping body fat while the scale stays steady tells the truth: you’re recomping, not spinning your wheels.

At ~30% BF, yes, simply lifting 3–4x a week, walking more, and killing liquid calories will absolutely get you where you want to go. And you’ve already proven it works. Most guys talk about starting… you actually did it.

As far as Reta and stuff like that, honestly, I don’t think you need it right now. Those tools work best once habits are locked in, not before. Same with AAS, they don’t replace the actual work in the gym and in the kitchen. The fact that this is getting easier instead of harder means you’re building something sustainable. That’s huge.

Same with AI, no reason to nuke estrogen pre-emptively. Let labs and how you feel guide that. Crashing E2 feels just as bad as high E2, sometimes worse.

Given everything you’ve been through, in my humble opinion, the smartest play is exactly what you’re doing:
Keep training to hold muscle
Keep the food simple and repeatable
Keep stacking small wins
Let momentum do the work for a few months

As for that AAS book, I’d skip it for now. You don’t need more info, you’re executing. Plenty of time to nerd out later if you want or need to.

You’re not late, you’re not broken, you’re building back. And it’s already working. Keep going, we’re all pulling for you.

95% of fitness happens in the kitchen not the gym.

Congratulations

Yea man, the scale has been 210 or less all week I mean but I’m not having to push to do anything . It was forcing myself at first now I’m forming a habit. They form quickly for me lol but I just know hey it’s time to goto the gym etc. now I’ve gotta tell myself to leave the gym. So I’m getting back to the old me. My only problem is I have a hard time with with work out to do when I’m going to by a book of exercises from a bookstore so I can just pick them out and the go do them if I have to try to remember what I need to I’ve got no shot

I see a lot of folks lately pushing these "experimental" weight loss drugs. In a very similar manner to how they pushed the covid vaccine. We are now seeing how that turned out haha

If you're going to use them then know what you're getting into beforehand. You may want to consider routine vision checks while you're on it. The mass fluctuations of blood sugar isn't good for the optical nerve. Some of the guinea pigs have already had complete vision loss. But I'm sure the FDA will still approve it next year. Good luck on your weight loss journey ditch the soda drink water, exercise, diet. It's a mindset. A daily death and resurrection is what's needed for discipline.

I appreciate all the input! Truely sad how big I got in a 2 year stretch. The heart attack was from everyone’s favorite mix of illicit drugs no not test and dbol more crack and heroin… well crack and fentanyl these days I’m really doing my best to do what everyone said better diet it’s now steak chicken and eggs I’m down one soft drink a day soon that’ll be gone just the caffeine is killer when u just stop drinking it but yes could get it from preworkout that’s just something I have to do. I’m not fat I’m just big boned! Lol jk but for real the last few years have been a whirlwind of experience 5 years ago I never woulda thought I’d say I weighed as much as I do shit I wanted to get to 200 when I was in the gym never could well McDonald’s not working and pop/soda as my only source of water and my only exercise was walking from the bed room to the living room or the man cave and swinging a golf club. It got pretty dark. But then life just happened to smack me in the face and it’s been a good wake up call… again and idk how many more I have left so I’m using this one to do what I want for me and working all day going to the gym not eating till all the food is gone and drinking some water help me get there that’s what ima do! Sorry for the long posts but the house is so empty it’s very sad so once I leave work and the gym for the night I’m on here just reading shit laughing and shaking my head. I’m kind of surprised by the lab results from the trt company thanks for all the support and intel

First off, congrats on getting off the dope! That was probably the biggest leap you've taken out will take on your journey. I'm proud of you, we all are!
Secondly, replace the pop with water and you'll drop 10-15 lbs+ just sitting on your couch. Seriously!
Diet wise, it's just cleaning up the way you eat. Not looking at it as a diet helps immensely!!! It's just how you'll eat now from now on. Ppl think cause all we eat is chicken and rice and things of that nature that it's nasty and plain. It def doesn't have to be. My meals taste fucking great! Lol but are very healthy and clean.
Lastly, any movement you make is going to help you make big changes. As I started to age and put on some extra weight myself some years ago, I had to ask myself what is so different now in my life than when I was younger and lean? Movement! We get so used to having conveniences. So, instead of parking up close when I go to Walmart or wherever, I park at the back of the lot and walk. No more escalators or elevators, walk! It works, it's real! Going to the gym 3 times a week is actually a great start for someone who hasn't really done shit in a while. Ya know? Little by little. Try cleaning up your diet and get moving around before you try reta or any of those weight loss peptides. Get used to that first and if you still need it as a helper, go for it! Just change the lifestyle first, before you lean on any substance. You'll thank me later! Lol! Good luck on your journey

Fist of all, congratulations on taking your health seriously and taking the first step to the new healthier you! Lots of advice has been given and you can take it as you please. I’m going to give you my two cents. Our backgrounds are similar, I’m prior military, suffered from PTSD and got hit with some major medical issues, hospitalized, for months with a slow recover and our on medications that induced weight gain. Long story short I lost 130lbs without a glp1. This was a diet a friend mentioned to me. MEAT, EGGS, CHEESE, and VEGETABLES. You’ll be surprised what you can come up with isn’t just those four ingredients… I drink water and black coffee but have added milk back into my diet. The weight melted off fast, you eat when you’re hungry and eat to your full. No calorie counting, no restricting…. The absence of sugar destroys food noise but you will go through a two week withdraw. This was the only diet that has truly worked for me… I also added beans occasionally as well. I went from 309, to my current 184. My goal is 175, I do not do cardio, I weight train 4 to 5 days a week.

Take your health serious, monitor your labs, and do your research. You’re going to do great and remeber to save some of those women for the rest of us. Your sexy ass can’t have them all!

Dude there is some good advice from guys below. You need to get your diet in check, cut the sugars out that includes drinks, no sugar in drinks like soda and juices. A GLP1 like Retatrutide could really help you, eat clean like chicken, fish, pork, veggies, a little grain here and there. Fasting helps a lot as well but seriously look into Reta, it can help a ton then after all of that and you lose the fat, then you can look into using gear. If you hop on gear now with that high of percentage of fat it's going to do more harm than good. Also discipline and hit the gym hard like go every single day even if you can only handle 30 min to an hour.

Diet is everything when it comes to losing weight. You can have the best training program and tons of cardio with a bad diet and not lose a pound, but on the other hand you can not workout at all and have a perfect diet and consistently lose weight. But it’s best to do both. Diet to lose weight, train to retain muscle while on a cutting diet.

Cut out soda, and do your best to cut out all processed sugars. Minimize simple carbs and stick to complex sources like sweet potato’s, brown rice, oats etc. get yourself in a 500ish calorie deficit. So whatever it takes to maintain your current weight minus 500 calories. Lift atleast 3 days a week. Do cardio 3-5 days a week. This is really important for strengthening your heart after your heart attack. But clear all of this with your doctor first, don’t listen to me.

Definitely stay far away from steroids. Heart problems are the most serious side effect from steroids and the hardest side effect to mitigate. You already have heart issues. Reta may be worth considering. But I’d be real hesitant to take anything not cleared by your cardiologist.

What caused your heart attack? You’re pretty young.

bro, first off let me say, shit happen. Heart attack, right here is a stopping point. Do not use anabolics, TRT with doctor supervision at the most and only if you need it. You can however use peptides, maybe retatrutide, but your real tool is diet. Fuck cutting fast food, cut everything.
I am a big proponent of carnivore and i respond extremely well, despite what people think, my cholesterol levels drop on carnivore but that may be too extreme for you. Cut all the junk and processed food. If God didn't grow it, throw it. No irish diet either, toss the potatoes, the rice, and focus on heathy non starchy foods. Everytime you want that pizza and cheeseburger, pull out a photo of your kids and remember who you're actually doing this for.
Join some outdoor groups, one for the health but also it seems like you need some socializing in your life and it'll do you some good to meet other people who are also on their health journey. You are the people you keep, build a friend group of people who are health conscious, join not just a gym but a family. Look for MMA gyms where people get close. Don't get too focused on the science of everything, just start moving and doing. You got this.

Squatch710's picture

You don't need drugs. Cut soda or switch to diet I am embarrassed about how addicted I am to diet soda but I am lean. Yes cut fast food it's not even cheap or fast anymore anyways if you must no fries hold the buns. Eat .8+ grams of protein per lb of body weight every day only meat and dairy count. Collect NEAT whenever possible park as far away from every entrance in every parking lot walk laps around the gym during rests between sets stand while eating and working if you work at a desk. Aim for 150 minutes of fasted cardio a week. Workout as much as you can handle if your split is upper day lower day rest day that's fine so long as you can keep doing it. Sleep is super important with fat loss if you get less then 6 hours of quality sleep a night you will lose muscle not fat. Resist the urge to use drugs to speed up this process as long as you can the longer you wait the better the drugs will work when you do take them. Stay strong get stronger I know it's hard to get back in shape seeking advice is a good start you can do this.

His muscle mass is high because fat people actually have pretty good muscle under all of the fat to carry all that weight is a workout. If he leaned up and hit the gym I bet he would already look pretty jacked.

Yep the most muscular man ever measured with hydrostatic scales Mark Henry is fat as fuck. The strongest I ever was I was a 320lb fat person. The worlds strongest man had abs like 1 time. So this dude is in a better spot then he thinks. He can probably hit some heavy lifts already being able to handle heavy work loads will help tremendously in his journey.

Sad thing is there’s no dog food anymore…. All my friends are dead well most and the ones that aren’t are in prison or moved far far away from the area they were drawn to! And from experience that doesn’t work I mean I found the what in Alaska and I’m from Detroit to….. it’s a change of mind that gets u to the finish line or moving toward the finish line
