+ 23 IMPORTANT - eroids Integrity
We have had a problem, and probably will always have a problem, with gear whores. There has been lots of scolding sources for violations of the rules, but in this situation we have a list of members that all want to participate in an illegal PM promo and not inform MODs.
Integrity.
An interesting word, one that I personally value very highly in both my personal and professional capacities. In an online community such as this, integrity is a highly valued commodity, which makes me all the more disappointed to write this post.
Let's take a look at a scenario I've been investigating. An unverified source sends out a pm promo to a list of members offering freebies, quite a lengthy list at that. In the sources eyes, they're trying to get a head start on promoting their business. What should the member do? Apparently what a lot of you do is throw your integrity out of the window and accept the freebies in exchange for a review. It's a unverified source selling on pm, do I REALLY need to spell out the rules? Some of the names on the list are folks that have been here as long as I have. Folks that 100% know this isn't acceptable and won't be tolerated.
Let's consider what happens if everybody behaves like this. Plain and simply, it jeopardises everybody's safety. It's not just the mod team that are responsible, each and every one of you are a part of a unit that limits a sources ability to pull stunts. Just a few weak links in the chain can devalue our reviews process, you should all be aware that should you receive a pm of this nature you should contact a mod.
We will be cleaning up on this kind of behavior.

AnonI did not mean to cause more inflammatory discussion for the mods. I still feel strongly about what I said but in the future I will find a better approach in expressing myself.

well I see you are clearly lost on the purpose of this post, which is kinda sad after all the posts you have made on this thread.....but I stopped reading most of your posts like a year and a half ago so maybe it was said before and i missed it.....Anyways, so you can be more clear, the purpose of this post was simply to bring awareness to what these kind of dealings turn into, in hopes that more people will come forward to help MODs police the site. when someone says that they are aware and will forward it to a MOD the goal was achieved, and we appreciate that....By the way if you were such an upstanding citizen here you would be a MOD.

Well, considering several of us did nothing intentionally wrong. The mods looked into it , looked at PM's, they know we were being truthful. There was no scam going on on my part bro. I have no idea who up voted us, but thank you all the same. The few of us you are referring to down below also handled the situation respectfully, maybe people appreciate that..
And from some of the karma shenanigans I have seen in the past were much worse than anything going on right now...
Good for you for remaining calm. I have officially flipped my lid, calls someone out on their integrity is a big freaking deal in my world. I'm a veteran, as many are I'm sure, "Integrity, service before self" and all that jazz. I've just had all I can stand of the peanut galleries trash talk on this subject. I think I'll have a protein shake and go to bed before I find myself banned for flipping out on everyone.

This whole thread is fucked up. I'm not sneaky or lacking integrity, but I am lacking patience on all the comments about what a shady sack of shit I am since I didn't do anything to be on this list in the first place. Neither did a few of the others. But I guess it's better to let a few members look like shit than to admit that more investigating should have been done before throwing us under the bus.
I think you should try to consider what you're about to say little longer before you type. A bit like that pm you sent me, the one with "plotting my demise".
I've explained it to you several times and others have explained it to you too. Some took gear, some didn't, frankly I don't care which category you fit into. You should have flagged it up.

There is absolutely no reason I would have investigated a simple PM far enough to know it was from an unverified source. I'm not a MOD, I don't investigate everyone who PM's me. So I will have to disagree on "you should have flagged it." Had he talked about gear, I'm sure I would have. If you would like me to flag every PM I get from an unverified source then I will. But if they are not allowed to speak why do they have the ability to PM? That's where I'm lost on this. No need to reply, I know what arguing with mods gets me.

BlutoI did not know it was announced that mods could not take hand outs anymore. I think it is a great idea. I think the changes you just named is a huge improvement. All I was saying is most around here that have been here a while are guilty of the same crime but most peoples name is not posted.

However...
On the first couple pages we got members admitting guilt to accepting free stuff.
Everyone the source PMed was published. Some responded some didnt. You say you didnt so I got no reason not to believe you. A mod should have been notified when you saw the pm. If it slipped your mind then oh well. But it didnt slip some peoples minds. They collected free gear for reviews.

That is true, but prior to this thread it was never mandatory to let a mod know, or to investigate who the sender was and let a mod know. Now that we all know that it is mandatory to let a mod know something like this there will be no more excuse. I for one have no problem with letting them know but I also believe it is completely unfair to have a list of names of people implying they intentionally harmed eroids integrity when now we know they did not.
