Well fractured my thumb in 2 places a metacarpal fracture and bennetsfracture. I wentn seen a hand specialist and he said it needs surgrry but I dont have insurance and the insurance I just got doesnt go into effect til April 1st by then it would be too late for surgery.
the surgey he would putme to sleep and put screws in to help the bones align and heal in place.
this surgery will cost me 3000 which is alot to me.
my question to you all is if anyone is familiar with hand injuries and what do u thinj should I get thid done? They say I might lose some functions of my thumb and experience pain but im just wondering what tge chances of it healing completely without surgery?

Take it from someone who has had 3 hand surgeries. Do it. I do have a limited range of motion and minor pain, but nothing compared to the agony I was in before. I have 5 screws and an L shaped plate in my right wrist to fuse 4 of the carpals. They also removed a section of nerve and shaved out a carpal boss. It should have been taken care of the first go around, but the first surgeon was a moron, the second was a cocky old fuck who thought he knew all. Finally I got workers comp to pay for a competent surgeon. My point being research the surgeon and no matter what it costs get it done. They most likely will work out a payment for you. My other question would be why is april to late to do the surgery? It took me 6 months to get my surgery due to the workers comp insurance co and hand surgeons being in a contract dispute.
Bro, get the surgery. But do not pay the quoted price, negotiate. See if you can find out what the negotiated price is if you had insurance and start there. You will pay more, but hopefully less than the initial quote.
Hopefully, its your left hand.. lmao. Get the surgery done, either scrape up the cash or put it on a credit card. Also payment plans ect, make it happen bro. ;p
Here's my recommendation. The surgery may not be successful but if you don't have surgery you will have problems for the rest of your life. Eventually it will become arthritic and eventually that condition will basically cripple your hand.
I would recommend that you find a very good specialist and do the best that you can to salvage your hand. Once the surgery is complete you can always negotiate with hospitals and healthcare providers to pay a fraction of what you owe. Your health especially at you're age should be paramount to anything else.

Some hospitals have a payment assistant plan for the people who need it. You might check with your hospital close by to find out.
Im on both side of the fence when it comes to have the Dr do something. Sounds to me like you split the thumb. I would say go have it fixed..

I know it hurts (your thumb and the money!), but it will be worth it in the long run. Like you said, our opposable thumbs are what separate us. Maybe you can look at it as an investment in your future masturbation endeavors.
3k is a small price to pay so your hand is not crippled for the rest of your life.

If they say you need surgery, then get it (I'm talking from experience here). When they're talking about screws and the like, it's not going to heal properly on it's own. You will be much worse off without it. Ask them about some type of payment plan.
