Cramping on ANAVAR
I wanted to ask on an open forum if anyone experiences excruciating cramps while on Anavar or Clen and what your solutions are to avoid them. I’m currently on Anavar at 30 mgs a day split in two doses, no matter what I do, I simply cannot avoid these cramps which tend to come at the worst times: either during a workout or sex. They often occur in the same places mostly: my inner thighs, Lats or abdominals. Now, when I used to take Clen years ago they would occur much more often in more places, even between my toes which is one of the reasons why I won’t entertain using Clen anymore. I know the response will be I’m dehydrated or make sure my electrolytes are up but I make sure I’m good on that to avoid this and I haven’t been able to. I even take taurine but it hasn’t seemed to stop these cramps. Would any of you happen to have solutions to this or can anyone share possible solutions? Thank you for your time

DaPumpA fair dose of a highly bioavailable form of Magnesium always fixes the issue for me. Quickly too.
Pretty much all orals give me that side effect if I don't supplement Magnesium. It's crucial for proper electric conductivity of muscles.
I used to get horrific cramps in my forearms after a pull session or in my quads after legs. Since my coach started adding himalayan salt and electrolyte tabs in my intra drink it's has vastly reduced the frequency. But I'm just about to start Anavar this week, I'll see if it flares up again
So far everything has been good but I’m practically taking everything everyone suggested.
Good luck to you mate. Let me know if you find something that sorts it 100%!
You as well
It’s a electrolyte Imbalance for sure…. I get it when I run clen and t3 and I’m shredding out….
Other than taurine & potassium, what do you use to remedy the cramps? I’m still moldy prone to cramps when taking taurine & potassium & I feel I must be deficient somewhere else. They are lessened, but still occur in muscles I focus on or hold too long
I drink a Gatorade zero during my workout
I've been cycling off and on with 40mg of anavar daily for a few months and can't say I've noticed any cramping. Now with clen I do get horrible cramps and when they hit its almost paralyzing to whatever muscle they hit. Usually my lats and calves. Oh so painful. Luckily the shop provides us spring water and after drinking a bottle I usually feel a bit better. And that's only at 40mcg which Is usually 1 pill.
Rustyhooker30mg is a low dose. Possible mismarked? I get cramps at 75mg and lowered back to 50.
I don’t think so, I’m just susceptible to cramping. I hope to work up to 50 mgs
Potassium bicarbonate works pretty well, too. I am very susceptible to cramps myself. I get them starting at 20mg of var and even on high dose test, as well. Adding taurine was very helpful but I still am prone to cramping a bit. Especially abdominal cramps. Devastating.
RustyhookerBetween the two of you with similar responses...curious to the inner actions leading to this. Typical cure is taurine and electrolytes...done.
I’ve been trying to figure this out, myself. In fact, if I’m lifting heavy, I may even get a cramp in my jaw for a moment as I’m clenching my teeth. It feels like an electrolyte issue, but I flood my body on a regular basis. I have to be cautious doing abs on cycle because of terrifying abdominal cramps, typically just on 1 pair of abs (often the lowest set of abs, right above my pelvis).
RustyhookerInteresting. Will follow here to see how ya do.
I was getting the bad abdominal cramps as well. What worked for me was lowering the Var dose to 20 mg in the a.m. pre-workout and started supplementing with potassium starting with 100 mg and working my way up to 300 mg, 250 mg of magnesium, 50 mg of zinc and 600 mg of calcium right after breakfast. Voila no more cramping. Really hope this helps.
(Edit) I also would mix 1/2 to 1/3 of a scoop of Gatorade powder per 32 oz of water as a workout drink. So as to just keep imbibing electrolytes without all that sugar.
I see, I just ordered magnesium nitrate which I’ll incorporate with taurine. If it still persists, I’ll take this approach. That’s very detailed and thank you.
For sure man. Anything I can do to give back.
Guess I am fortunate that I never get cramps with var. Usually, electrolyte imbalances are the cause of cramps though.
I know a lot have mentioned taurine but I used it and it wasn't working that's because when I read dosing stuff online it's for normal people so they say 500 mg to a gram. For us I'd bump that up a lot. Once I bumped it to 3-5 grams I really noticed some relief. Also bananas are amazing too and just anything with electrolytes.
Im starting to suspect this as well because old school taurine would work but maybe I should increase dose and eat more bananas. The bros gave me a lot of options so I’ll try them all if I have to.
I get cramps super easy, even from just high dose test only cycles. But I learned I need more taurine and I feel way better. I also take it right before my workout because that's when I get the cramps and I eat a banana pre workout too.
I stock up on banana’s and water during my Anavar cycles due to the cramps. I saved this long time ago and it helped me.
Make sure you are drinking enough water through out the day. For me Gallon per day minimum. Remember that stimulants (coffee) and alcohol are diuretics and don't count towards your total.
Make sure you are taking in enough electrolytes (think sodium, potassium, magnesium and calcium)
Supplement with 2-5g of taurine per day. Ideally you would put it in the water you drink during your workouts and sip on it through out your workout
Often neglected and over looked, make sure you are stretching after each workout and try to incorporate foam rolling a few times per week into your program to help remove lactic acid from tight muscles.
You are privy to the taurine and electrolytes/sodium from Gatorade already, but potassium in banannas for example helped me mitigate cramping while on anavar. The combo of all three, with adequate water intake works great. Magnesium Citrate also works very well. Almonds/Cashews are rich in magnesium, or separately supplement with it, 300mg/day should do the job. Also, if you are taking any diuretics either for high blood pressure or to simply shed water, which I highly advise against unless youre making money off your physique and step on stage... they deplete your potassium, calcium and magnesium which equates to cramping. Hope this works out for you bro.
Read your post after I wrote mine. I Should have just said what Diesel said…
Instead of the 10 mins typing mine out lol
LoL your advice is solid and informative bro. The stretching and foam rolling tool is for sure beneficial and I hope will help others who are going through cramps cause they aren't fun and come at most inconvenient times lol
Hey bro, that was solid advice you gave. I don’t drink alcohol or coffee, I have the occasional stimulant once in while when the kids prevent me sleeping but I actually don’t stretch so I’ll also put more emphasis into that as well. Thank you
I’m told I give good advice but never following any my own advise lol . Guilty of not stretching enough and with my age And with a terrible back shoulders hip It has to get incorporated.
I do the foam and least 3 days week and it works . Good luck man hope it helps
Thanks diesel, I’ll incorporate a banana to my post workout meal and look into magnesium citrate. I appreciate the input.
I wouldn't go magnesium citrate, as it's more of a laxative type of magnesium, attracting water in bowels. I would shoot for magnesium aspartate or magnesium bi-glycinate. Those 2 seem to be more bioavailable. Whatever you do anything is better than magnesium oxide.
Damn, you couldn’t have told me that after I dropped the $43 dollars ? Stop love you though
What? $43?...wow. Dude there's no magnesium in the world worth that much. You probably got 500g powder huh? So man hope it doesn't have a laxative effect on ya. Those I mentioned have an amino acid bonding that helps with absorption. Also a big percentage of that magnesium you got consists of citrate. Lol probably kinda sour. But hey as long as citrate works that's what counts.

Now I need you to tell me when I should buy a house.
Omg! YOU GOT GUMMIES? Ummmm lol.
I mean it's magnesium after all and as long as it works that's what matters. Some have no issues with it.
For wifey too.
Secret hack....coconut water. Perfect for avoiding/getting rid of cramps due to its high potassium, magnesium, electrolytes and calcium content. I carry some during training especially in the summer if I am on anavar and plan to have a serious clanging and banging gym session. High quality coconut water tends to be a bit on the pricey side, but well worth it's weight in gold when those inconvenience cramps do come on, or to simply put them at bay and avoid em. Simply having it alone and consumed at right time before training and some after mixed with protein powder....cramps were little to no issue to me. 12oz of coconut water mixed with vanilla protein powder is delicious and makes for a perfect shake for me personally.
This is why i use nutrabio Eaas. They have 500 mg of coconut powder in the product and 1,200 taurine
What do you think of the Kirkland brand? It’s sold at Costco. I don’t think I can have it with protein but I can have it with my lunch.
Good quality, I've used em myself. The 12 packs lol. The main thing to look for making sure it's NOT from concentrate. My favorite is VitaCoco, but as long as it's not from concentrate, just as good.
