Carbohydrate linked to ageing

ad

There's a new detailed article about how carbs and not protein promote ageing

Perhaps I didn't understand fully but it seemed to say the growth process in those "past maturity" is the same process that promotes ageing.

Perhaps some of you smarter guys can unpack that info and render an
Opinion.

Isn't that the point? Don't eat, you die. Eat and you age... preferably about 90+ years. I'm all for promoting aging.

Bill1976's picture

I read somewhere that time causes aging. I was shocked. Who would have thought.

Greg's picture

Cancer has been known to the State of California to cause cancer

Manshit's picture

It’s the insulin.Excess carbs cause insulin response and the insulin causes the aging.

press1's picture

Is that true is it? Is that why Dallas McCarver looked so aged ahead of his time then maybe...Its that certain facial look isn't it

Manshit's picture

I can’t speak on Dallas but my father took insulin for diabetes, his heart surgeon told me that insulin ages the heart.

Manshit's picture

Yes he was probably not a good example of fitness and health. He was very large though.Anabolics,GH,And insulin are probably in every pro’s formula but dosages and predisposition are different for each one.I would love to be Dallas’s size but 26 is not long enough on this earth.God Bless him!

Manshit's picture

Yes and no.They are generally in an insulin surplus because their bodies make more sugar out of everything they eat.Although insulin keeps it in check, the more you have to take the more damage it does to you body, especially your heart. The problem with the type 2 diabetic is they have proclivities that made the m type 2 diabetics in the first place. So they end up in an insulin surplus.

Manshit's picture

It can do that well.It is extremely anabolic but the affect on blood sugar can be dangerous. For those that need it It is a God send.It is meant to be used with a minimalist approach.

yea and basically everything causes cancer, carbs are our bodies number one fuel source even if they do cause ageing so be it so does the sun , but we need it none the less. To much of anything is bad

Personally I've never heard anything so ridiculous, better not lower a turd incase your insides fall out either.

I think Steroids promote aging a lot more than carbohydrates.

I’m a believer. 3 years ago, all I got hit on by were the 24 year olds. Now the silver is starting to set in, and it’s the 54 year old.
The gray is coming on too fast.

Look at the bright side - instant grandkids.

Watched The Equalizer 2 last night bud - awesome film if you haven't seen it Smile

Ozninjaguy's picture

Will check it out - but the best Equalizer was Edward Woodward (loved him in Callan).

I yeh I use to love watching the series - only reason I've seen the films. First one I thought was rubbish but the second they've got it right - pretty brutal lol Washington pulls it off well

Woodsy my boy! lol It has long been known that high calorie intake shortens lifespan. This is just a newer version of a well known fact.

Ozninjaguy's picture

Yes mate, it really is old news repackaged.

You need some carbs for just normal body and brain function but I can see how abuse of carbs can become an issue,

Manshit's picture

The body can make glucose from protein, but you are correct.

I have seen clinical studies on mice where total calories was the defining factor that promoted aging.

It was noted that aside from extended life span the calorie-restricted mice were more energetic and suffered fewer diseases as well.

This study basically states the same verbatim, "Hence the power of calorie restriction to prolong lifespan: fewer nutrients, less mTOR activation, longer life."

Conclusion being that less overall calorie consumption specially derived from carbohydrates combined with intermittent fasting has been clinically proven to extend total life span while improving overall quality of life in the process.
