+ 7 Best Formula For Gaining Muscle

ad

The best advice that one needs to hear is to eat eat eat and then eat eat eat some more accompanied with staying consistent with your gym plan and pushing that weight day in and day out, getting your rest, drinking plenty of water, and being patient and realistic about the changes that your body will have. You will not get big over night by just putting all these available compounds in your body, will not happen, might happen for a small percentage of folks but it takes time and muscle maturity. Mix up your gym plan, dont always just do the same day in and day out, do some cardio. IVE noticed that the guys with those physiques that are outstanding and not professionals are typically on the later side of their 30's. Some people are gentically blessed however that might not be you but believe in yourself and dont give up just because some other dude or dudette has arms that you wish you had, just know that you have to eat which aids your muscle growth and recovery. More reps to increase your definition will work over time if youre currently not as defined.

Be honest with yourself, dont chase what someone else has but create your own destiny. Just wanted to type my mind as Im stuffing my body with some ground beef, pinto beans, rice, salsa, and crushed tostado shells all combined in a bowl, oh I forgot the queso freshco. This evening my chest workout will reap these thousands of calories that Im consuming, man Ive been eating solid like this since 7oclock this morning. Stay focused, and stay determined and committed to your goals it will happen but not overnight....Maybe getting bigger isnt yourncup of tea but this discussion was about eating to grow...

If I could compact what you said into seven words I'd have some good advice for all the newbs. But FOOD, FOOD, FOOD, FOOD FOOD, AND MORE FOOD, doesn't make sense to most people. Good post +1

I truly have a better understanding of my mind and body now that I have realized that food is secret to getting bigger alongside working your butt off in the gym. Push those weights then go and reward your efforts by eating then again an hour and a half to two hours later eat again. Trust your caloric intake as the way to gaining muscle but again work harder in the gym and truly enjoy those workouts

Like one of our Iconic eroids member once said "if you ain't got Tupperware, you ain't serious" :))

I see alot of people saying there eating six to seven meals a day but there supplementing with shakes in place of meals. Well technically your not eating all your meals. Its best to get your protein from food instead of shakes all day. Now dont get me wrong theres nothing bad about having a shake pw or a slow digesting protein shake at bed. Whatever the case may be, but at a minimum definotely should eat 6 meals a day and hey the more the merier

MusicMan's picture

I eat big plus shakes maybe one or two a day but I prefer a true meal

Catalyst's picture

Shakes don't count as meals. They're like sandwiches, they're snacks, they don't count unless you're cutting.

MusicMan's picture

True my lady gets a shake after the gym and a tuna sandwich

bigjrock's picture

Man i love food. Steak, potatoes, chicken, rice. Yummm its only 3:30 and still have 4 more meals to go

MusicMan's picture

I know right, it aint nutritious unless its delicious

robb's picture

It's true tho, the better physiques are the guys in their 30+, obviously there's exceptions to this but overall the older dudes seem to be rocking it. Muscle maturity can't be faked or bought in a 10ml vial.

Great post. I recently started to train my nephew and he was overweight. He decided to lose weight for wrestling and lost 70 pounds in two years. He wrestled at 160 pounds last year but the downfall was he had no strength and was very lethargic. I tried time and time again to get him to listen to me but he was to worried about not been the fat kid anymore but at 160 he looked sickly. So fast forward to now and him listening to me and goin to the gym with me. In the first two weeks of me taking him shopping and laying out a diet that had 1000 more calories a day In it he's gained six pounds. We are a month in he's not gained much more weight but he's leaner and meaner and people are starting to compliment him. He's gained so much strength in the last month since he start ed to eat more that it's making me kinda of jealousy lol. He's walking around smiling so proud of himself and who knew working out and eating would make such a difference in a month. He was so calories deprived that at first he couldn't even get a pump but now his pumps are intense and he's loving it so plus two on this fine post

What a great influence you are for this young man, youve helped him tremendously and that is priceless. I bet he feels like a million bucks and who does he truly have to thank for that? Not only that but that connection and belief in who he is is like finding the fountain of youth. If only I had someone in my corner when I truly needed it things would have turned out differently and Im sure I would have accomplished my first true goal in life which was to become a professional baseball player. Im moved by this because we need to care for others just like this. Man I tell you his confidence and smile, you have alot to be proud of as you really have changed his life forever. Noone ever forgets that person who helped them along the way.

This community has changed my outlook on life and given me new purpose as well. No matter what Im dealing with in my personal life just knowing that all of you are here keeps me going. I cant begin to tell you how much I respect everything within this community for more reasons than one.

rolltide3's picture

I think I'm more proud than he is lol. He's put so much work into his goals. Had my brother and his wife thank me for taking him under my wing. It's really great for me to bc I have pushed so hard this last month or so and it's helping me as well. The only thing my bro wife complained about was they didn't know if they could afford to feed the kid lmao. He's gained almost forty percent on his strength. He's breaking pr left and right. People are noticing and he's on cloud nine. He's calling or texting me all the time now what are we doin next. Love his dedication and I will be there everyday he wants to. I've had a checkered past but I'm glad to help my family anyway I can bro. He never says no and if he wants to understand why I'm doin something I explain ad the kids like a sponge love it.

Well said, So many of the guys at the gym ask me what Im doing different and my reply is always the same. The only difference between you and me is the sheer amount of food that I eat vs what you eat.

MusicMan's picture

Its amazing how some just dont want to hear that im eating more now. I remember when I was striving to become a professional baseball player and I was still in college a sophomore and my buddy who was just drafted by the pirates and i started working out and his starting weight was like 155 (he was a shortstop 6'2) I was a right fielder (168 6'3) and after 3 months he was 162 and I was 196. Man he swore up and down that i was on Steroids but hell I didnt even know what those was then, I was only going on 19 years of age but I swear to you I ate so much food during that time and my body responded to that food and those gym sessions, my neck was just huge, I was big all over and he was still skinny, he became so mad at me because his body didnt change like mine but I remember as it was around thanksgiving, I must of eaten 5 huge plates of food throughout the day plus I would mix WEIDER weight gain with SHERBERT.

Like he would tell me, he just didnt have an appetite so that was what was holding him back from growing, lack of calories, as one meal or two a day will not get you bigger period. Again all without steroids, that was the best shape that Ive ever been and I was big and ripped. Ive always been genetically blessed so thats not my fault but today ive reached as high as 250lbs but again Im now 40 and still ripped.

jansen's picture

You mention that your friend didn't have the appetite. .... something i figured out for myself in the last year is orals kill my appetite and also running my ai to high kills my appetite. Two mistakes that took me a long time to figure out. I can eat crazy amounts of food now and im finally starting the get the size ive been looking for. I know this is not the issue with your friend, just sharing lesson i learned the hard way.

Catalyst's picture

When I was on holiday earlier in the year I got talking to some guy that obviously trained, but was slim, the athletic type. He asked me why I was the size I was and I said food, he obviously thought "steroids". His daughter and my daughter were playing together and he asked her how much I really ate, you could tell he didn't believe her when she told him 8 meals per day. That was until he saw my three plates of food for lunch, then saw me eating again at 2.30pm, and 5, and 7.......

MusicMan's picture

You obviously know the key to growth, I can believe it, 8 meals a day OMG. i would love just to work out with you and then just spend the day actually consuming calories, Im interested in your menu. I bet you put in work in the gym as well consistently. Having an appetite eating for fuel is a beautiful thing. How many years have you truly been dedicated to to yourbody, Id say for the past 5 years Ive been going full force forward within approach. I also believe in myself, Im not afraid of calories, I mean I always try to eat healthier but I dont see nothing wrong with grabbing something quick like a gyro or burger, Im devouring it and my thought normally is like i can feel that going to my muscles.

Catalyst's picture

I eat a lot, but I eat very little junk food. I don't have a sweet tooth for sugary stuff, (other than marshmallows), never been a drinker. Guess I'm lucky like that. My wife describes me as a pure carnivor, meat, meat and more meat. Without the gym I'd probably be a big fat ass.

MusicMan's picture

Sometimes I just cant deny these frickin apple fritters at 79 cents a piece, Ill take four. I try to eat something like that once or twice a day sometimes 3 just depends on what I want. Drinking is not allowed in our household I maybe drink 5 beers a gear and that when the wife and I might attend a musical concert, ball game, date night, etc. I love guys who dont drink, tells me they care about something or just dont drink.. Youre really one of the only folks I know now who doesnt drink besides my brother, he's 42 and never drank but he's also not into the gym lifestyle. Were both meat lovers man I love me some burgers, spare ribs that fall off the bone, OMG i have to end this post, hunger pains.. Keep doing it your way Catalyst, thats all good with me!!

rolltide3's picture

Without the gym I'd probably be a big fat ass.

The reason u would get a fat ass is because of spot injections errrbody knows that. That's why we preach spot rotation ;) lol

palmcoaster's picture

and how many times a day have you told yourself as I do, Im really not hungry right now but Ive got to get it in.

MusicMan's picture

I dont know maybe when I was younger as there was a time when I was trying to figure out who I was and what I wanted after I was done playing college baseball at age 21. I started running 5 miles a day back then and boy I was in great shape, ripped but skinny and weak.

You have to get creative with your meals and start small your appetite will incease over time as you continue to get stronger while staying consistent within your gym routine. Hell if you need a week off from the gym dont be afraid to take a week off but still eat at least 4-5 times a day. That week off should motivate you and recharge your vision.

Sometimes you just have to suck it up, I mean if Im not truly hungry I will eat a can of tuna and a couple of strawberries just so that Im playing the numbers, but if I was hungry I would have had a tuna sandwich with a bananna and glass of milk. Look at those numbers its balanced, its healthy and if youre thinking correctly it will benefit, eat with a purpose. Is your metabolism fast or slow, sounds as if yours is slow if you have to tell yourself im not hungry. Im not sure what your goals are but eater smaller portions than what youre doing and then your body will call for more but you have to put in some work in the gym so that those muscles scream feed me, make good choices, dont be afraid of putting on some weight as Im not saying thats your case but food is your friend.

Catalyst's picture

I object to using foul language like "cardio" ;)

Your post made my hungry.

MusicMan's picture

Yeah i feel you there, thanks for pointing that out

MusicMan's picture

I mean i have those guys who I use to look at in the magazines when I was 19, Flex Wheeler, Dorian Yates, That huge Canadian Black Guy Paul someone I think, Lee Priest, Shawn Ray, man those guys were huge inspirations to me just because of the amount of muscle they had, but I never felt as if I was jealous of them just motivated at the fact that they were huge. Now what were they doing to get so big, they were eating I bet tons of food. I also was amazed by Craig Titus, I thought he was a badass bodybuilder and how vascular Paul DeMayo was, he freaked me out with those veins in his forehead, I always wondered how in the hell do they do that. Yes a combination of compounds probably but more importantly the food was the catalyst.

Again I dont want to be those folks as I know Im not even close to their level of knowledge, expertise but I bet Im just as strong as them but I could never match how much time and effort that went into getting prepared for the stage, the conditioning and limiting of calories as I like eating all year round. Its true Im just an ordinary country boy at heart who loves going to gym with my wife (sometimes I go alone if I really want to beast mode) some fine food, good movies, and just being thankful for another day in this community.
