+ 6 Sumer EBC - Summer Trenathon - 4th Place!!!

Take my body to the next level!!!!
Was looking for 260 lbs, brought that down to a more realistic 245 lbs. (Might get the 260 after talking with Viking)
Increase strength and size! 1000 lb Triple Total, Bench, Squat, Deadlift (just about there right now)!!!

Edit 9/26/12 - Deadlift 475, Squat 385, Bench 285 = 1145!!!!!

Won't be happy til I break 300 Bench! New Goal - 1200 lbs

Oh yeah, win another EBC!!!!!!!

Final Edit 10/13/12 got up to 241 but didn't like the look, backed off on the Cals and ended at 230. Dropped about 4-5% BF according to the caliper test!

Came up almost 200lbs on the Triple, didn't make final goal but kicked the shit out of the original! LOL ;-P

Yea Baby, 4th Place! Gotta love that, looking at the monsters I was up against!!!

I think hes got one of the best bases here to build off of right up there with alpha.. also good base. Hes in good position to really pack on some muscle in this ebc. He tad on heavy side coming in... but aren't we all;) ..... and i just came out of a cut lol so whats my excuse! But yeah looks great. woulda liked a leg shot or two

Other guys had a bunch of ink....didnt know if it makes ya poster boy for LE. I demassed after broke elbow but this definitly would kick me back to hyperdrive....

Looks like I need a new goal! I'm "ON" like Kong!!! (Staying Strict)
New Personal Bests
Deadlift 355 x 3 tonight (with Straps).
Sled 540 x 6 tonight.
Squat 315 x 6 (at least 2 clean\full ;-) Last week.

Awe, that's so cute! I pushed 100lb Dbs flat bench for 6 Thursday! 1st time back to Dbs, I'll see whats up with the 120's next week? Keep pushin Brother, this one ain't free! LOL ;-P

im hitting about 75% strength and rising. Still revving up from last ebc....Yeah my gyms dumbells just go up to 125. Before cut i could incline them for bout 10 nice solid ones.

I can't get the big boys up for incline, the forearm tendons haven't been worth anything in close to a year! Just gotta work around the issue!

Try droping the angle down.... most ppl go way to steep. Maybe smith machine. yeah incline smith,and keep hands open... with fingers stretched out... i do this some on presses. What you think?

Yea, Incline smith is not a problem, just gotta keep the elbows in a lil to keep the stress off the shoulder.

Thanks! I'm not done with the deadlift, the weight is still going up pretty easy (with wrist straps). Last weeks lift was 355 x 3, and it doesn't hurt me anywhere. I need to start looking at technique, I might be able to get good at this! I'll see what happens with the squat tomorrow! LOL ;-P

Never had any idea I could deadlift so much. Gotta work on technique now and grip strength. I'll be testing the squat tonight, leg night. Figure if I got 315 x 6 clean last week, I should go for 365 tonight!

I hope you kicked a$$ tonight training legs! A jump from 315 to 365 is doable but that is a large weight increase. If you got 3 full squats with the weight that is very good and should be built on next week with additional reps.

I bitched up a lil tonight (or was smart?) the glutes are feeling it a bit still from the deadlift. After the warmup and medium sets I did 315 x 4 easy, thought about it and my wife said just go for 30 increase. 345 x 3 then finished up with 225 x 10. Took the sled up after that to 590! 50 lb increase but only 3 deep out of 6! Gonna break 300 on the bench this week!!!!

Great job, congrats! Your wife is a wise lady to recommend +30 lbs for squat. That is what I was thinking too.

I think about last year when I was racing to get a 300lb bench by my 50th birthday and damaged my shoulders and forearm (shut me down at 285 on a smith so less free weight). I am much more strict and controlled now, and a lil smarter! LOL ;-P
How you making out with those tree trunks you use for legs?

Very wise approach to training. The tree trunks are treating me well. I have always liked to train legs especially calves. They have made this 5'6" 215 lbs. ol' man able to get his hands up above the beach volleyball net to block.

There you go! Was just telling my wife this morning that the things we do lifting are not just for aesthetics but functionality. We joined a retro fitness close to our home because its too hot for her in the screen room gym and I needed to free squat instead of smith machine. But the point is she likes the glute machine (you bring your knee forward then push the bar all the way back) I showed her last night and I said that will also help if someone grabs you from behind, you are practicing a rear kick. But really I just like her tight glutes! LOL ;-P

Don't even go there! I had her squatting and the lil bitch ass personal trainer at the gym told her, her back is too weak to squat. She has always needed her heels up to get down to parallel with her thighs. This is the first gym I've been to that doesn't have a wedge, or 2x4 for your heels when squatting! And I'll stop there cause I want to just bitch slap his punk ass!

You probably already know this but use the smaller plates to get them heels of the floor.

Absolutely correct Shrap but if this helps someone get comfortable with performing a full squat it is a good way to start. I always recommend to keep lowering the heel lift until you are flat on the ground to seriously shread them hammies, glutes, and quads.

The reason she has always needed them is her center of balance I believe, she holds the bar on her neck instead of her traps, she says it feels more secure. With the wedge she squats with almost perfect form. I can't break her from adjusting her foot position after every rep though! LOL ;-P
