I'm right there with you. Maybe i can get my project car all buttoned up for a while. I set aside way more money than i thought was possible his first time around to build a car. Then we got pedo joe and all that shit went out the window when i had to start doing side gigs on top of my full time job just to feel comfortable. I could have survived off my regular paycheck alone. But just barely. 1 emergency vet visit would have been a real problem. Let alone another 15-20k to dump into a car.

Nah. I owned 4 when i was younger. It was def a love hate relationship with those cars. I have an 08 sti these days i bought non running to rebuild. Like the dsm's i love it when it's running well. But damn if something else doesn't break every few months. If i had any idea how expensive it was to pull power out of subaru's i'd have bought a blown up evo and built that. I currently need to rebuild a trans and i want to upgrade the turbo again and swap to a stand alone ecu. I'm shooting for something like 650 hp/600 tq at the wheels on pump ethanol.
i love sti's also but working on the boxer engines are no fun at all and expensive. if im ever financially able i wanna get an evo 8 project myself
They really are great cars when done right and i always wanted one. But i'd trade for an evo9 wagon if i could. Not that evos dont have their own issues.

Only the 95-98 turbos really had the issue with crank walk. Evo's have the same weak spots dsm's did. The trans/transfer case doesn't like a ton of power or abuse.
