Evolutionary advantage to shutdown
ad
Why the fuck is hpta shutdown even a thing? Like in what universe did introducing exogenous testosterone even exist? It’s not even just testosterone it’s literally any androgen at all. It’s not even like a threshold either. Like literally any amount of exogenous androgen will shut you down. Why did our body adapt to this and what even was the point?
It makes no sense to me at all from an evolutionary standpoint.
I admit I don’t know the specifics of why it even happens in the first place, but come on. Freaking asshole body.
Just shower thoughts.

It keeps you from turning into a honey badger. You don't want a honey boo boo
AK80Same with sugar and your pancreas having to work overtime to compensate. Same with T3 and your thyroid. Dogs and cats don't need their balls, they are BETTER without them unlike humans. Belly fat can be stubborn due to your body storing it in adipose tissue in a fight or flight scenario. We may have evolved (as you allude to) a little bit over time due to man-made food & chemicals. DHEA, progesterone and HCG will help counter this shutdown mechanism.
Evolution didnt include stabbing a needle into body and pushing injected chemicals.
Our bodies are designed to balance or with weight for instance to save some calories incase of shortage of food. I’m guessing with adding hormones this is our body’s attempt to balance it back out.
I’m going to assume that it’s like an emergency “shutoff valve” our bodies developed. Kind of like the emergency shutoff valve on a gas pump if a fire breaks out or a hose breaks and starts spraying gas everywhere.
In both instances having no gas is better than way too much. My assumption is the body thinks that no test is better than way too much when it thinks it is over producing.
That’s just a guess and in no way based on science or proven fact.
There’s a lot of rabbit holes one can fall down when it comes to this sport
