Iron
ad
How many of you supplement iron? Most anabolic increase RBC and hematocrit. This usually leads to iron deficiency. This is usually indicated by low mcv, mch, etc on a blood test.
This has been shown to lead to strokes and other complications. Do you guys supplement iron into your diet?
I’m mostly trying to lose weight so I avoid red meat for the most part (plus helps with triglycerides and cholesterol). I was wondering if I should supplement iron. I know women’s multivitamins come with iron supplementation since they’re anemic more often.
Curious on how you guys handle the smaller red blood cell issue and anemia and whatnot that comes with the territory.

Cream of rice has iron in it
Not taking in red meat at least twice a week during cutting will cause lethargy. I got that fact from dennis neuman direct
Dennis " Super Human" Newman huh? That cancer did him bad. So y'all buddies?
Start cooking with cast iron and you can eat spinach too or even better, cook your spinach in cast iron. Also if ferrous sulfate bothers your stomach or constipates you, ferrous gluconate is better for that
Does that actually give you more iron? Wouldn’t the seasoning prevent it?
Also I’m not sure if iron is necessary, just wondering about if anyone else supplements it since the mvc mvh issues commonly found in bloods.
Mcv affects hemoglobin so I see where you're going with all this. Man I don't want to tell you wrong, bloods and Doc is the key though
Supposedly it does help but idk if that’s like a wives tale or not.
Also I’m not sure if guys do supplement with it, I’ve never been deficient in it so I haven’t had a need to. I know we get high rbc and hematocrit but idk if it’s to the point of causing iron deficiency, it’s not something I commonly see on guys bloodwork, weather they were preemptively using iron or not, idk. A lot of guys are eating red meat also so that’s probably helping too
I always get the Vitamin tabs with added Iron as it just makes me feel a lot better. Since having B12 anaemia about 4 or 5 years back I also realised my Iron intake was non-existent, started using it and felt worlds different. Plus its fun when it turns my poo dark green when I take 2 tablets LOL
Pull bloods but in my opinion iron is probably not needed. Notice how it's not in some men's vitamins. Personally I try not to get much iron but just enough
I’m getting bloodwork done in 4 weeks. I’ve just experienced this before and wonder other peoples experiences.
I haven’t tried supplementing iron, but my last bloods I had low mvc and mvh and was wondering if it might be anemia since that’s usually the cause.
I feel fine though. Not too much information on this topic though so was fishing for more.
Does kidney disease run in your family?
I don’t believe so. My parents haven’t had any issues and my grandparents all died of dementia/Alzheimer’s (really looking forward to that inevitability).
My grandfather the same. Looks like we screwed
Ok
O yeah more than likely that's the case, I agree. You're dealing with reduced hemoglobin production which you probably already knew about. Wait on that blood work to see what's up. Men are usually good with iron unless a medical condition exists but as far as women, we all know that's a different story because they bleed one a month. Sorry I couldn't be much help but keep us updated my man. You may have to give iron a go but consult with a health care physician beforehand
I believe it’s not in multivitamins because of overdose risk, at least that’s why it’s not in children’s vitamins and I assumed the same was true for adult multivitamins
I know that low iron can cause increased RBC and hematocrit but that’s a result of low iron , I’m not so sure that high RBC and hematocrit from other causes like steroids can cause low iron though but I could be wrong , definitely wouldn’t be the first time
Low mvc and mvh mean your blood cells are small and contain low amounts of hemoglobin respectively. Both are a signal for anemia.
This is extremely common and pretty much a guarantee when on testosterone along with high hematocrit.
I’m not sure if there’s more to it though. Maybe not anemic, but other underlying issue causes the low mvc and mvh.
Interesting, thanks for the info
Pull bloods
If your RBC is low you try supplementing with vitamin c + iron and methyl folate on an empty stomach, I usually stop supplementing with Iron on cycle.
No rbc is high. Mvc and mvh are low. Small blood cells with low hemoglobin.
