Gaming computer

ad

My daughter wants a good gaming laptop for xmas. Anybody have any recommendations? She is 12 so she will use a lot of memory. Looking to spend between 800$ to 1,200$
I don’t want to get a crappy computer. I have before and it sucked. Thank you in advance.

Go to nowinstock.net, they have a gaming computer section and you get notified when great deals come out and when they're actually in stock. Not easy to find nowadays.

My recommendation is search up to build your own so much cheaper. They charge silly prices for putting it together I managed to build a top of the range for 900.

The truth is that it is a lot of computer for your daughter, but well, everyone spoils our children as best we seem.

You can arm yourself with gaming computers with that budget. You should more or less wait for the computer discounts before Christmas.

You can buy her a good console for games instead of a computer.

A Gaming Laptop , or at least a true gaming laptop is gonna be pricey but you can get a half decent one if your willing to spend over $1,000.

Asus makes decent gaming laptops that are not that pricey.

But honestly If she is really into gaming I would go with a Desktop computer , With a gaming computer you wanna focus on the Graphics Card , the RAM and the Cooling system .

Hard drives and Processors take a back seat when it comes to gaming so don't get all caught up thinking you need a huge hard drive and a crazy fast processor . Just a decent AMD and a mid sized Solid state drive should do the trick.

I'd beg to differ. He can get a fairly good one, and has actually selected a good one. Good for most gamers and certainly good enough for a 12 year old.

PC's these days aren't much different than a good laptop, Open a tower PC and it's all space for add on cards and drives. The mainboard could fit in a laptop. And shit, these micro PC's are laptops without a monitor or KB.

His MSI selection -pre built, is every bit as good as the lower end builds at your link and several hundred dollars cheaper.

Seriously, when your graphics card is in the upper tier and you're using an NVMe SSD, i7 processer, 16gb RAM on a 64 bit platform (win10 only needs 2gb) with separate cooling for GPU and CPU, and a wireless card capable of 800mbps download speed your talking fractions of a second refresh rate from Laptops/PC's costing hundreds of dollars more.

Unless you are a professional gamer the value for your buck at the extreme end is more about ego and bragging rights than performance. I'd say he made a very good choice for a 12 year old gamer who can also use the laptop for high school as well.

If it were me I'd go on to newegg dot com and look into either an msi or an asus...i been pc gaming my whole life and found them to be the best..my suggestion is if you want one with good gaming graphics ( like a solid nvidia or Radeon chipset ) then look into both of those..and also a heads up you will almost always pay more for an Intel processor compared to an amd..amd processors nowadays are fantastic for the price..fr me if you have any questions bro

Install the Slickdeals app on your phone and create an alert for gaming laptop. Most deals are user submitted but some are spammy but guaranteed you will find a good deal and good computer if you are patient and read through the comments in the thread.

wait until thanksgiving to get in on some sales. Places like BestBuy, Walmart, target, Kroger, will have limited selection but what they will have is a desire to get rid of last years models to make room for the new shit in time for Christmas.

HP - Pavillion is a solid brand in your price range. What ever the brand, (asus, lenovo, dell, LG etc.) make sure you're looking for a solid video card (GPU) A video card is more important than CPU. Better to have an i5 processor paired with a good GPU then to have an i7 with a lower end GPU. you also want a SSD hard drive, 8gb of RAM or better, i5 CPU or better, and if you can find it, at least 32GB Optane memory.

The hardware list is really what should be minimal. This is really.

yet I'm not sure if Pavilion still fixes the heat issue. MSI can be a little expensive but its great and strong

My last Pavilion use to get very hot and the fan was always screaming away - on this one now it stays extremely cool and you barely ever hear it come on. Much better

I used it for many years. Its only problem was its overheating but if it was fixed then there are no other flaws. Smile

Rock on HP Pavilion - That's what I ended up buying again after owning my last one for 8 years. My new one has the B&O sound enhancement and speakers and the last was Altec Lansing which sounded way better than this one. I just bought a JBL Flip and that soon sorted that out though.

I know its only middle of the road in terms of computers but its more than powerful enough for what I'll ever use it for Lol Its nice and light also for lifting on and off the footstool onto my lap in front of the T.V. Last one was like a brick. This one is very thin and silver .....

Thanks Greg. I knew you were a computer guy so I was hoping you chimed in. She’s really into gaming so I want her to have something special this year.

But I'm against consoles. I believe that it is expensive and it is not necessary. After all, you can buy an excellent multifunctional computer. For example, I just bought a computer and can work and play my favorite cs go game. By the way, I found a useful website https://dmarket.com/pt/ingame-items/item-list/csgo-skins/knife/talon%20k... where you can buy and sell skins.
