Sharp pain in injection site
ad
Pretty much as is says guys, I inject my quads and always have, never had any issues tell now, was doing and injection last week Friday just a ml of sus, and while injecting I got what felt like a cramp, aspirated and all that before hand so all was good, anyway didn't think much of it, had slight pip which don't really get much,
So did legs last night and omfg when did leg press as I came down it felt like someone was stabbing me in the leg and I mean real pain to the point I stopped and went home, now I'm wondering if I might have hit a nerve?
Any thoughts guys, ps I have fibromyalgia so am wondering if it is nerves if my meds could have covered it up a bit(the pain from pinning)

Anyone got any suggestions where else to pin as needto rotate as did right quad Monday and left still hurts, can't twist round enough to do glutes and missus won't do it, was thinking delts?
RustyhookerDepends on cc's used. That large V shaped intermedius quad...but then you might have speed wobbles. Delts. Triceps. Traps. Pecs. Slin pin all sorts of areas
AnonLucky for me, i do not have this level of defintion. Ome hand up from knee, one down from hip, hit anywhere between anterior and lateral lines.
RustyhookerBingo! Seated and hit noon high mid thigh....it rhymes!
TricepatopsYou take gabapentin or Lyrica for FM? But honestlyi don't think you hit a nerve and hopefully it is just a one time event.
Use to be on nortriptyline and duloxatine, just duloxatine now
TricepatopsIs there any warmness or swelling in the area you have pain now?
No none at all dude
TricepatopsIf you hit a nerve you would have known it when you injected it. It is very painful and a feeling that sucks. So I don't think it is a nerve. Did you get a muscle spasm when injecting?
I'm only concerned about a nerve as my fybro meds are pretty good at numbing pains to the point of not knowing they are there
TricepatopsDoctor's and nurses in hospitals have went to the new method of IM shots so there is no need to aspirate anymore unless you feel like you did hit something. They did research and found it to be safer not to aspirate.
Molinin302I can't get on board with that, especially in the quads. A slight one second pull on the plunger can save you a lot of discomfort.
TricepatopsYou can still aspirate but the studies they did show it is actually safer but I still do it every once in awhile especially depending on what oil it is. Say a tren or something with the GO oil the stinky good stuff. Try to avoid that oil as it isn't good on the body. It is mostly in any TNE it seems or base. Let us know if it goes away.
Do you have links to the studies showing it is safer to inject IM without aspirating?
I can only find conflicting points on this.
I do personally aspirate even if the odds of hitting a nerve or blood vessel are extremely low. But I rather not aspirate if it is safer not to.
I have yet to see a doc or nurse aspirate when giving me a shot so I don’t worry about it either.
Molinin302You're going to find conflicting reports on everything, believe that. The national center for biological information should be your second favorite website for doing what we do here, tons of great info. See my reply to Lindsay below, I was in college well over 20 years ago, but I'm going to share three points with you that I hope will help your decision.
1- aspiration isn't a big process, once the needle is in, all you have to do is give the plunger a slight tug backwards, doesn't take much at all, if you're in a vein or blood vessel you will know immediately. The smallest vacuum/negative pressure will let you know as the blood is under pressure.
2- hormone injections are very unique, its the only drug I can easily think of that's suspended in oil. Most injections are in much thinner solutions.
3- keep in mind what were injecting here. There's many compounds that are not intended for human use anymore for reasons. You want these substances in your muscles not your cardiovascular system. You'll be enjoying some serious discomfort at the very least.
This last one is just a tip as I see the advice being given on here from time to time and it can be unsafe. Never force the needle deeper into the muscle tissue by burying the barrel against your skin trying to get more depth. Buy longer needles, period. There is zero debate on this one.
I've written a couple posts in the past on healthy injection recommendations, other members have made excellent additions to them as well. Best wishes and good luck with everything buddy.
AnonIm not sure aspiration is even taught anymore.
Molinin302It's actually not. My schooling was a very long time ago, times change. I'm getting old lol
AnonSame
It's only happened this once dude so probably just bit bad luck
RustyhookerWonder if your lymph system got agitated? I pinned quads with slight pip and had my knee are puff a bit.
TricepatopsWhen you shot quads did it go to knee and have a little bit of pain or an uncomfortable feeling? I have had that happen to me but only on my right leg never my left. Feels like the oil just dripped right to the knee area. Very weird feeling and doesn't happen all the time though
RustyhookerKnotty pip at site and slight inflammation at the knee as you describe. Not common after moving closer towards intermedius. The outer sweep closer to hams for me had more nerve endings and pip to follow. Seated, relaxed at about 1o'clock position seems to be the key for me. I can move from center of that position about 3inches towards knee or hip to gain added pin spots on a complex cycle
TricepatopsA way I was taught by a doc is sit down use you hand at the hip bone and when you get to ring or middle finger depending on quad size is a good spot to pin. Sorta har to explain but there is a couple good videos out there on it and it is an easy way every time cause your hand won't change unless you are using Barry Bonds GH protocol. My right side is the only side where after the injection I mean within a minute I feel it in the knee but not all the time. It is just weird feeling. Every once in a while on quads I get a spasm going in and that sucks but best thing to do is stop let it go away and keep going in don't pull it out. Almost like getting dry needling done with the spasm.
RustyhookerAgree. I wrote a bunch of forums on quad pinning and intermedius. After changing to a 25ga pin, lifes been good The knee tingle is an odd feeling.
TricepatopsEveryone once in a while I have to use a 23 or 21 when I forget to get my 25 and those hurt when you are use to a 25. Rotating is key you can start to tell when you have some scar tissue build up it feels sorta like stabbing grisly meat. I also noticed when warming oils up with hair dryer can take away some pip from stronger type of mixes like 450 mgs of test or 200 mgs of prop. To my the knee feeling is weird and scary first time but almost feels like it is living up my ligaments even though I am almost certain it doesn't do that. Would be nice cause I would do shoulders that way.
RustyhookerI use a rice bag thats kinda sock shaped. 90 seconds in microwave and wrap the vials in middle like a snake...lol! I used to blowdry but now i can set the vials on counter and wrap sock around outside. Can set pin horizontal in sock sammich too as needed.
Many ways to skin cats! Oh...the scar tissue crunch....yuck!
It's something I could look into, it was a wierd feeling when I injected and like I say the fybro mess I take potentially numb things for me lot, that's why trying to reduce them, suppose I'll just have to take it easy and see how it feels
Molinin302Makwa has you covered well on this one, my only question is what pin gage and length are you using? Did you recently make a change to what you normally use or do?
Ran out of 23s so used a 25 1 inch
If you hit a nerve you would have noticed it when first injecting. Muscle will twitch and you WILL feel it. I have had the needle nearly fly out of my hand when hitting a nerve. You may have injected close to a nerve and the bolus of oil sitting there may have pressed on the nerve while excercising. Just a thought anyway.
Could the oil sit there that long, for 4 days? I'm just curious that my fibromyalgia meds might cover it up, I'm on duloxatine for it, was on nortriptyline as well but came of it as it had hidden some pain from injuries that I didn't know I had, when I injected it went tight at the end of the needle, felt like a sharp cramp
Oil wouldn't sit there for that long. I guess I would be more concerned it it keeps happening.
Hopefully the first and last time it happens
Might just have hit a nerve. Don't know about fibromyalgia but if you inject your quads often enough you're bound to hit a nerve at least once.
Ya think I might have fd something up as Friday was when I injected and did legs last night
