This got me thinking ...

ad

I've just recently had the beyond hell and back experience of an abscessed wisdom tooth in which as the swelling grew no amount of painkiller seemed to help the pain.

It really got me thinking about what an amazing piece of kit the human body really is in terms of healing itself, and how quickly and efficiently it does it. A nerve within the infected tooth communicates with some intricate area of the brain that I don't have a clue about, it then sends white blood cells to the exact area within the correct tooth - not to my big toe or anywhere else Lol Only when it knows the infection has gone does it then release the puss from within the tooth and then carries on about its business. And will do the same with just about any other area of itself too!

It really is such an intricate and intelligent system you wonder how it ever got to be so sophisticated - its no wonder that when we flood it with artificially made hormones it has a tantrum, and side effects and other bodily functions get disturbed. Just a reflection I suppose on how lucky we are to own it in the first place ...

20/01/2020 Update: Well I had to accept defeat - I could take the pain no more ....Lol

Been and had the bastard pulled today :-)) Having a pain free mouth after eating feels like a blessing, I must say though I was kinda jealous of her nice big stainless steel syringe though Lmao

Hahaha She did 4 big injections around the tooth which was a new one on me, use to be 1 big one to more than numb most of the palate didn't it. Seems to be a lot more area specific nowadays. Good bit of Novocain ;)

Guy's I'd just thought I'd share this link I've just come across after researching the theory that Ibuprofen inhibits muscle growth and strength by reducing protein synthesis levels:

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18461099

It would appear that moderate doses (400mg) daily have no adverse effect only higher doses. I just thought it would come in handy to know as I have seen quite a few people who need painkillers sometimes to train around old injuries etc and plus I've had to use it a bit lately.

nice write up bro, very insightful .

teeth pain is hell, it just does not let up. Ear aches run a close second though, migraine head aches also damn it son those suck.

You are telling me mate - At times you feel like going crazy its so intense, screaming more than crying Lol Problem is any tooth up to half way along the jaw brings with it massive ear ache too - especially wisdom's. Feels like your eardrum is about to explode at times together with the dizziness.

I thank my lucky stars I've never suffered with Migraines though - from what I've seen they are way worse than toothache.

I’ve either had a stomach bug or food posioning the past few days. It is an intelligent system. Throw up and shit your brains out until whatever poison in your digestive system is gone!

I know mate, it makes you kind of feel a bit bad doesn't it when its trying its best to keep us alive just in general life, and then we are effectively abusing it in ways it doesn't feel happy about at all. Then still we feed it with more drugs to try and stop its own natural defence system which it is actually producing to try and protect us!! BUT yet still we yearn for more muscle and strength as if that will save us when we are pushing daises LOL

Evolution of modern science. 150 years ago if you let it get to the point of pussing and not fixing they amputate your jaw.
We have better access to medical and cleaner foods so risk is lower but not gone entirely.

GizmoDuck's picture

Yup. Couldn’t be sleeping with dirty prostitutes and premedicate like we can now. Hahaha

Wait. What. Dude I was just playing and not even serious man. I don’t judge anyone Man. But if what I said offended you. Apologies mate

We had a kid where I grew up their mom shielded then from everything, home school , no playing outside no friends just sat inside, germaphobe, seeing her leave the house she practically wore a hazmat suit..... well they got a divorce and the dad moved in by me.... and the kid was hospitalized like every week from getting introduced to “dirty stuff”(germs) kid didn’t leave the house until I think 11 and he looked like he was starved too.... now he is fine but at the time he almost died... we need germs I’m not saying to go lick toilet seats but ur body can’t be shocked by germs either.... that kid I knew suffered bad... he looked like he lived in a nazi death camp.... when he would grow Ill ....trust stuff here!

press1's picture

Can you imagine being like that where you are scared of touching virtually anything including people etc because of the fear of germs - some of them wash their hands till they bleed don't they from the amount of sanitising they do daily.

Ya bro idk if my steak falls on the floor bro I look for any dog fur I didn’t vacuumed up if any remove and then I eat it... idgaf food is important to me not because of roids, food to me is like what a sports car and big house is to some people... I have so much food in my house it probably looks like I’m doomsday prepping I just got food man... but that kid was scared of everything dude... his mom disowned him cuz the dad got him and he didn’t even know what was wrong for a while they thought he had cancer and shit or some bad shit... idk what it was called but they had to like acclimate him back to the world like u do a fish in to a new tank... poor guy

This is the exact problem with Antibiotics and also not seeing the course through in its entirety isn't it. But yes when you put it like that Rust it really is the result of billions of years in the making isn't it - quite scary but fascinating when you think about just how many thousands if not millions of functions it is able to perform and yet there are still many things we don't yet understand about it.
