+ 2 What's your favourite Carbohydrate Food/Drink?
ad
I know its often a debated topic as some members love their carbs and others hate them or just don't require that much to function.
I need a lot throughout the day to build any kind of muscle having such a fast metabolism which is a bit of a pain as you end up having less room for probably more important protein. Anyhow, I just wondered what everyone's favourite sources are in terms of food and drink if you if you could only have 1 choice for each?!
For me food wise it would have to be a white jacket potatoe as they are just invaluable for a good training session and keep you mentally alert, drink choice it would be Lucozade which is a popular energy drink in the U.K. Not sure if its available in the U.S yet, I think it maybe.

Who_CaresHmmmmm i live with that J. You are correct brother lol
jayisknatures nectar of the gods....lol
Who_CaresYou are a surgeon with your words my friemd LMAO
We talking favorite for health and performance or favorite for pure enjoyment?
Gotta be russet potatoes and pedialyte for the former and chocolate truffles and vanilla milkshakes for the latter
Jasmine rice, or red potatoes and pre and post workout would have to be glucose based sour candy. Nerds, sour haribo gummy bears, sweet tarts ect.....
Haribo Sours rock man! Their current special edition Wild Berry Tangfastics are really nice too but don't think you get those in the U.S
Yes they do.. there is a doller store next door to my gym and before every session i stop in and grab a bag of haribo sours.. the green ones are the best.
I have never seen the ones your takking about. Im a haribo fanatic... frogs, worms, dinosoars you name it ive eaten em. My wife thinks i have a sugar addiction. Shes probly right..lol
Over her we have one kind called star mix that has snakes, cola bottles, cherries, bears, and dinosaors together. I just looked em up the ones you mentioned and might just order some from over seas!
Oh yes there's nothing to get you a nice Haribo addiction more than being on some good ole tren & Dbol - They are great for the hypo's too lol I remember my first bag in Switzerland when you couldn't get them in the U.K - Haribo Bears & then got a massive Tangfastic addiction once they started to import them here! Do you get Rowntree's Jelly Tots over there? They are awesome too
Nice thread brother. Steel cut oats blended in my protein shakes is a fav for me. Jasmine rice with most my meals. But my weakness is salted French fries preferably pre workout meal and sometimes post or cheat meals or midnight snack or if my kids dont finish theirs and deffinately on holidays....
Pasta then potatoe then rice.
Glycofuse or AllMax CarbION
Whole line allmax products great imo!
Oats soaked in water 24 hours then blended with chocolate protein powder and cinnamon, then chug. Easiest way for me to get down 100g carbs quickly. Thats my go to 90 min pre workout each day.
Brown sugar poptarts pre workout are also great when in a rush
Onion soup potatoes
Leg day carbs are the best, instant oatmeal, applesauce, and little Debbie cupcakes...
Other days it’s applesauce, cupcakes, and oatmeal...I like to switch it up
creme horns from the local bakery, and drink is sparkling white grape juice.
or pizza hand toss crust , supreme toppings and extra sauce.
The pizza sounds good man!
CronusOoooo that's a hard one. Especially just doing one lol but sweet or red potatoes. Lintel every day over pasta itself. It's a plant based type of pasta and leaves no bloat. Also heavy in protein. Rice cakes with natural peanut butter and on a cheat day add some nutella on top. Of course rice period. Some will argue brown or white and when but when you get down to the actual makeup of rice there is basically NO difference. Cream of rice over oatmeal for less bloat and carbs. If you dont like oatmeal do steel cut oats by themselves. I find that everything above for me worked wonders especially when I started subbing certain foods for others. As far as drinks go I'm not a big fan of the market that's out there. To me every carb drink is basically a Gatorade with a salt packet on top of it.
PASTA all day long man.
Fusilli 0r Penne?
You know what mate, love them all
unreal89Sweet potatoes and red potatoes baked with cocunut oil into wedges or oatmeal with cocunut sugar and pbfit powder thats about my main carb sources delicious too... just add some lawrys seasoned salt to the wedges.
Fruit, oatmeal and potatoes
Potato pancakes with apple sauce
jayiskCarb food- real Pizza from an Italian pizzeria none of that pizza chain shit.
Lol What topping? ...
jayiskSausage
Gummy bears, Chocolate cake, Blueberry muffins, my go to carbs.
Mashed potatoes, baked potato, scalloped potatoes, hash browns, diced potatoes, curly fries
Drink: fat chocolate milkshake
Potatoes all they way for food. If pressed for time or in between meals, I'll have a cup of oats, banana, almond butter with whey in milk blended as a shake(thank you Viking).
Alphamale500For carbohydrates, white or brown rice depending on overall goals/timing/etc..And for a drink, a whey protein isolate shake made with ice cold whole milk.
vitargo , tropical taste post wo.
quaker steel cut oats with whey in water , morning or pre wo.
Do you buy the Vitargo from Bulkpowders or locally mate?
Two weeks ago switched to liquid egg whites to mix my shakes instead of water or almond milk
AnonI grew up on a farm and we always had a garden in the back, I would dig up the potatoes and hack off a head of cabbage, rinse it off in the "crick" creek and chow down when I would get hungry, I wasnt allowed in the house until after 7pm during the summer. Man i miss those days.
Did you eat it raw then bud?
AnonYeah, I ate them raw, just washed the dirt off them. Same with carrots, radish, and the tomatoes.
Same bro. As a kid I would dig up wild sweet potatoes down by the creek, and eat the carrots straight out of the garden. We also had a lot of what we called wild tomatoes (Cherry Tomatoes) growing in a vacant lot next door. My neighbour grew sweet peas for the flowers, and when they had pods, I would hide along the fence line and eat the peas. lol - had some fun as a kid.
OMG thats pretty hardcore, don't think I could do that - does it not give you really bad stomach ache? I'm guessing you are also able to stomach raw beef then?
x2 on the potatoes (we call them spuds). In Ireland we drown them in butter and sat though!
Delish
Great topic. +'s
Ya know you are actually a nice guy when you aren't slamming my 2 favourite steroids Giar Lol....
I didn’t know the Irish liked potatoes!
As an entitled English man I demand you hand over your spuds..
There will be a tax on that soon!!!!!!!
Willy Wonka Bottlecaps and sour patch gummy worms
Potatoes are where its at.
Many time when talking in the gym we use terms like "Squats are the meat and potatoes of leg training".....yet all these gym rats suck down is plain ole white rice.
The point of bodybuilding is optimization. There is no more complete carb food than the potato. First the variety is seemingly endless. Get out of your comfort zone & do a little research on the type of spuds available, their nutrition profile per, and the preferred preparation for that variety.
Potatoes are alive, a nutritious root vegetable packed with vital vitamins and minerals as well as chalk full of fiber.
Personally, I believe most bodybuilders truly need to add a little bit less new wave ideas and add in a little more meat & potatoes.
x2!
Its funny you say that as everytime now when I buy a bag I always make sure I get the best variety available and pay a little bit more! I use to get the cheapest and then all you end up with is a black/grey coloured interior that stays rock hard no matter how much you nuke it in the microwave with a load of butter on Lol A Maris piper or King Edward seem to do the trick - nice white fluffy inside.
