Var helps to preserve muscle while cutting?True?
I'm on my first cycle, pumps are fantastic, loved the increased strength...
The only thing is I'm 21% BF, I want to lean out with this cycle more than anything...I want to actually see my hard work, that I've been doing for the past year and a half.
And closer to the winter I want to do another cycle but straight up for adding more muscle, so I will eat at surplus.
So, long story short, I started Var 4 weeks ago and I was eating at maintenance/surplus, I feel some gains but also gained a bit of fat and the summer is coming up, so I switched to cutting.
Did anybody actually cut with Var? Does it preserve the muscle mass?
I'm eating 30c/30f/40p...all confused, am I doing it right?
Any advise will be greatly appreciated...

Are those your macros per meal? var can be used for both. diet is what determines
These are my macros per day, are they okay?
to a degree yes diet will dictate preservation of muscle or not... it looks like you and tigar got it handled though ;-)
30/40/40

110%?
You go girl!
LOL I meant 30c/30f/40p LOL
We can only count in 25's and 45's.
I'm going to go out on limb and clarify..female right? And for starting your cycle, you were eating at what sounds like a surplus, so gaining a little fat and muscle would be the expected outcome I believe, especially with adding var. So to cut, you would probably want to either change your diet or start up with some cardio. Var will preserve the muscle you have while you burn fat through diet and training. That is what it is utilized for in a cutting cycle. What does your diet and training look like right now? How long have you been lifting?
Hi,
Yes, female, 6'0 ft tall, 180 lbs (now), 32 y.o.
I'm lifting 4 days now that I started cutting + 2 days just cardio. Also 15 mins cardio every day.
Usually I lift 5-6 days/w
Now eating 2000-2100 cal, 40p, 40f, 30c
Tracking via myfitnesspal.
Yeah, I've started lifting heavy 1,5 years ago.
Might try carb cycling, that help me get over a fat loss plateau. Probably try playing around with your calorie intake. Try dropping a hundred calories off and see how your body responds. How many calories were you eating before you started anavar? And of course the basics; drink a ton of water, eat as many veggies as you can, get some liver support. What type of cardio are you doing after your workout and what kind on your only cardio days? I would try some easy cardio in the morning if you can, even if it's just a walk. And hiit for 15 minutes after your workout is killer.
I'm taking liver detox :-)
I was eating 2400-2600 cal before I started and for the first 2 weeks of Var, now down to 1900-2100
Cardio usually either StairMaster or Treadmill, 45 mins of StairMaster on Cardio days and I started doing HIIT for 15 mins after the workouts.
As much as I hate doing cardio on an empty stomach, I will do it. I'm determined to do whatever it takes.
Thank you so much for your help.
Just my input. Take it with a grain of salt. EX: If you are doing 6 meals a day. do your fats not with your carbs. Fats sound high to me and for your amazing height (vertically challenged envy
sound like your calories are low. Var is amazing and can be used in many ways however if your body feels starved it will store. Ex. I am 5'4 and 131. I take in roughly 1500 cals a day. 6 meals. 150p/ 75c/24f daily. no fats with carbs. Fasted cardio 4 days a week or either cardio post workout ( i prefer am fasted) meal 1 is P and F as is meal 6. 4 in between have no fats and P and C. If you do not have a coach that is the best thing you can do for yourself. I would love to have your legs FYI
Interesting, never thought about having carbs and fat separately.
I thought the range 1900-2100 was okay for cutting for me.
I mean, I cut down carbs to 30% per day and upped proteins and fats to 40%, thought I would give it a try.
sometimes the opposite of what we think will work is what works lol. meed to know a longer history to further advise
No problem
Bump cardio to 45 min daily. I recommend before breakfast to maximize fat burning.
There is a lot of excellent info in the forums. I guess we would have to know your stats before saying more. Remember PCT is important probably more than the cycle itself. I will tell you from my personal experience if I could go back. I would change the way I did my PCT my first cycle, second and third cycle. Also have you only been working out for a year and half? But yes your question was does var preserve your gains? yeah it does. But sadly, the best cycle you will ever is your first. ahhh i remember my first lol
