+ 5 Gynecomastia Gyno Surgery all you need to know. Cost, Process, Recover etc...

ad

Hi all, I am now 1 week out after my Gyno surgery so I have decided to share my experience and hopefully this will help someone in making the decision to get this surgery as it one of the best decisions I have ever made.

Ill start with the cost in a break down as this information when I was doing my research I found hard to get accurate as it does vary alot. My surgery was done in Australia and with also Private health cover so all $$ are in AU and I will list the cost with both my private health and original costs.

$200 Initial consultation (Can be bulk billed to $0 if you find the right clinic)
$4500 Surgeon fee (This depends on your surgeon it can vary between $3k to $6k also its for each side so if you only have gyno on 1 side cost is halved)
$450 Hospital fee - Private health $450 No Private health - Bed $350 Anesthetist $650
$120 Compress Garment - (This is a vest you have to wear after surgery to keep swelling down)

Health Fun Return: $1100 Credited back to me

TOTAL: 4270.

The Process and finding a surgeon.

Once I decided that I was going to go ahead with the sugary I rang my health fund and they had a list of surgeons they recommended for the area i lived in. I took the names of the surgeons and then proceed to google search them all and the clinics they worked for, looking at the pictures of the work they had done and the yeas of experience each doctor had. Once I had decided on 3 I called them and had a chat and asked for quotes.

19th June: Arrived at the clinic for my appointment. Had a meeting with the surgeon and nurse to preform the operation, they explained the operation and any complications and a brief history of both of them. He took out a pen and dew on my chest on where he would remove the Gyno gland and the areas he would Liposuction the fat out to give it a nice shape.
After the meeting and I had decided I wanted the surgery we chose a date which suited me.

23th June: Received a my quote via email for the surgery and needed to pay a $1000 deposit 14 days before the surgery date. The quote also contains the surgery code for the Gyno surgery for your health fund so you can get your re-bait.

28th July: Surgery day! Checked in at reception and paid the Health Fund excess of $450 to cover my Hospital stay. they then took me to my room where I changed into the hospital gown awaiting my turn to go under the knife. after a huge wait it was finally my turn, the surgeon came out and marked up my chest again on what he was going to do, the nurses then took me into the operating theater and then put me under a general anesthesia and i was fast asleep. this was roughly 5pm
Woke up at about 9:30pm and I felt very cloudy in the head and no real pain yet. Felt very sick form the drugs they put me under with but the nurse fixed that pretty much instantly with a drug she put in the needle in my hand. after laying there for about an hour i was finally ok to go home with my Oxycontin in hand.

29th July: Next morning after the drugs had worn off my chest was super tight and swollen, my right shoulder was black from bruising and I had no strength to push my body off my bed. It hurt but surprisingly not as bad as i had expected, putting a shirt on was difficult but thats about all.
For 1 week you are not allowed to have a shower or remove the vest as the compression will help with swelling and the tissues reconnecting quicker.

4th August (Today): So its now 1 week later and I feel great. Bruising on my shoulder is still there but im off pain killers, the nurse removed the vest today and i got to see the new chest. She removed the patches that covered my nipples and it was an amazing feeling to see a normal looking nipples. There is still a few weeks to go before the stitches are removed and I can get back into the gym but all looks to be going well.

So was it worth it? Most defiantly! the confidence that comes with it is well worth the 4k-6k out of pocket.

I also did look into going over seas to like Thailand or china to get the work done but in the end decided against it and here is why. The cost over seas was almost the same as in my country, unlike Breast implants where the price difference an be 8K or more Gyno surgery was a saving of like 1k. Also in your own country you are covered buy your own health system and after getting it done there is no way you would be fit enough to do anything if you where over seas besides sleep by the pool.

Hope this helps someone with making the decision to get the surgery or not. ill try up date it as time goes by but if you have any questions about the gyno surgery ask away and ill do my best to give an answer based on my experience.

Cheers guys,
Drift.
