+ 23 IMPORTANT - eroids Integrity
We have had a problem, and probably will always have a problem, with gear whores. There has been lots of scolding sources for violations of the rules, but in this situation we have a list of members that all want to participate in an illegal PM promo and not inform MODs.
Integrity.
An interesting word, one that I personally value very highly in both my personal and professional capacities. In an online community such as this, integrity is a highly valued commodity, which makes me all the more disappointed to write this post.
Let's take a look at a scenario I've been investigating. An unverified source sends out a pm promo to a list of members offering freebies, quite a lengthy list at that. In the sources eyes, they're trying to get a head start on promoting their business. What should the member do? Apparently what a lot of you do is throw your integrity out of the window and accept the freebies in exchange for a review. It's a unverified source selling on pm, do I REALLY need to spell out the rules? Some of the names on the list are folks that have been here as long as I have. Folks that 100% know this isn't acceptable and won't be tolerated.
Let's consider what happens if everybody behaves like this. Plain and simply, it jeopardises everybody's safety. It's not just the mod team that are responsible, each and every one of you are a part of a unit that limits a sources ability to pull stunts. Just a few weak links in the chain can devalue our reviews process, you should all be aware that should you receive a pm of this nature you should contact a mod.
We will be cleaning up on this kind of behavior.

I can only imagine this is more aimed at myself as you commented straight after I did.
There was no justification of my actions in my apology and there was certainly no excuse. I just wanted to set the record straight incase anyone else had trouble reading my apology.
my intent was not to single anyone out, everyone should hold themselves accountable for any and every action no matter what it is. Everyone knows better, but temptation is a motherfucker.

Probably. I just hope when the dust settles it's made clear who's integrity is in check and who's wasn't. I might not bleed integrity, but it's something I pride myself on having. And with the EBC going on it's pretty important to have at he moment.

I have received a wealth of knowledge from eroids and have made many friendships here so to be publicly outed as somebody who takes advantage of a community who have been nothing but supportive towards me is quiet upsetting, especially since I do not believe it is all how it sounds.
However I definitely did nothing when I was approached by a unverified source so I am fully excepting of the punishment and hope my brothers and sisters learn off this lesson. I am truly sorry for my part in this and will try always to uphold the eroids way.

As it seems to be repeatedly being misunderstood, I'll clarify our position. Even if you didn't accept freebies from the source, you should have flagged it up to a mod. That isn't up for discussion or debate. For those of you that claim you didn't accept anything, I'll find out, but it doesn't change the fact that turning a blind eye to this is a threatens our community.
As far as I can tell, no promo was even mentioned to some of us on the list.
not looking to argue, just making a statement I feel like I should go hide until this dies down, but it's hard to do so. Being between a rock and a hard place is mighty uncomfortable.
I apologize to eroids for not investigating this source after I declined his offer, that was my mistake. I actually thought it was a different source, but regardless I should have still looked it up and normally I would have.All I can think of is I must have been pretty busy that day that I did not..
I was never once asked in any of my pms to participate in any kind of a promo. Their was no conversation of free gear for a reveiw...This is where I'm lost.
Why would I accept a non verified srcs promo when theirs promos all time for free gear? I kept him on my friend list for when/if he does become verified.
He asked a couple basic questions of where I'm from and who's gear am I using thats as far as it went. Did I think it was alittle weird...sure. Did I persue him/ask for free gear..no. Did he ask to send me gear for a reveiw..absolutly not.
Am I guilty of association, yes. I didn't realize the importance of this matter and just ignored it honestly. I personally feel I didn't knowingly or intentionally break the rules here. I'll be more aware of shit like this in the future and acknowledge/handle the matter differently. My intentions have always been good here, I do have integrity and care about this site. This is all in my pms for you to see catalyst. I pmd you about the matter.

AnonJust throwing this out there perhaps it can help. Is there anyway the recent activity of member interaction with unverified Src promos/freebies can be added to the rules? Perhaps a code of conduct between members and Src's both verified and unverified can be made and included in the rules? I'll admit learning the nuances of Eroid's takes a little bit to figure out. Maybe it needs to be out in black and white so nobody can act surprised when they're being disciplined.
Honestly speaking from personal experience I think some of the mentioned members who got upset are over reacting. Being docked karma points is IMO cake. Take it on the chin and tomorrow nobody will even remember why they got mad to begin with.
Let's all stay calm and let the mods do their job. Man up and be cool about it and we all hug it out mañana. Seems way too easy doesn't it?
I think there's value in a little more clarity in some instances, things can always be more obvious. Maybe I'm looking at it in a different way to some, but in this instance I believe common sense should be enough to realise what interacting with unverified sources clearly cutting corners can lead to.

BlutoThere is no such thing as common sense. To assume a majority understands anything equally makes you foolish. Without clear cut guide lines this will not slow down. Everyone wants free gear but that does not mean they want to undermine eroids and place bullshit votes. Out of all the products you have received I bet there is not one fake review. I bet even though you have received a ton of free stuff you kept your dignity and left a honest review. I bet that free gear did not make you stay on a si and promote it.
i think it would help to have the rules updated and such. maybe go into depth a little more. ive seen many of people say "well i didn't see it in the rules" even tho if you've been here long enough you know what you should and shouldn't do. maybe go into depth in the rules as to say why things are implemented and why they are rules etc etc , would it be a pain in the ass possibly but in the long run it definitely wouldn't hurt.

EROIDS WAS MADE TO ELIMINATE THIS CORRUPTION BY ESTABLISHING A REVIEW SYSTEM SO PEOPLE HAVE SOME BACK GROUND ON THE SOURCE. I HATE BREAK IT TO EVERYBODY BUT YOU ARE ESSENTIALLY SNITCHING EVERY TIME YOU WRITE A REVIEW. I agree the rule is a good rule imo. I just didn't know it was this bad. Iv never had any source try anything like this so I guess it was shocking to me that this was such a problem. I love eriods bro and this is just a learning experience for me as well. I haven't been here long and I don't recall every reading a forum or seen something like this posted. I'm sure there was but I prolly missed it some where.if something like this happens I definitely know what I'm doin. U and cat keep fighting to make eriods better. hell ya .. i been a member here for a long time now. and i seen this shit going on for quite some time now.. i dont like to stir up drama so i tend to keeps things to my self.. im glad mods are finally taking action

The thing I find really disturbing about this, is all these community members have been posted here as lacking integrity and accepting an offer (even though they may not have)! Yet the unverified source has been protected from view.

Nobody is protecting the source. I'll deal with him in my own time. Right now I'm addressing the members which is a bigger concern to me.

im pretty sure you know if you tried to get/possible accept free products from a source via PM. However for the sake of playing dumb ill post a nice fat red mark up about the source. no-one is exempt on this.
I have no clue, that's my point. All my gear comes from the same place. I've never accepted a thing from an unverified source via PM pr otherwise.
I understand the punishment for accepting free gear in PM and writing a fake review about how great it is. What I don't understand is the concept of being punished for not contacting a MOD after receiving an email (PM) regardless of what action the recipient took. People may be offline. Heck, I was offline for 5 weeks while in the hospital and could have received such a PM. I would log back on and discover my karma trashed because some numskull sent me a PM? This is an issue of asking regular members to police certain actions and to punish them for failure to do so. What concerns me is that this concept can get broader and broader and quickly.
our sentiments exactly, it starts off with this and ends with trading and selling, pop up sources, back door dealings. And most importantly, it allows sources, or members who want to be a source, to make deals on eroids. which totally contradicts what the site is for.
Yeah I'm with you, I can't help it if someone PM's me. I probably didn't even read it. Unless I know the sender I don't pay much attention.

Post it for the world to see, set my karma back to 0, I know I've never gotten gear from an unverified source. And the only PM's about gear I've sent were to my EBC sponsor. I appreciate you checking it out, I really am clueless as to who this source is.

I honestly have no idea what you are talking about. I have only received gear from 3 sources on here. None of which was solicited, unless you count my EBC sponsor. I've never received a PM from a no name source, I'm pretty confused as to what you are referring to.
