It's hell ugh

ad

Had surgery today to have my hernia repaired. It was in and out surgery. Since I've been home the pain meds wore off and I cant describe the amount of pain I'm in. No matter what I do I can not get comfortable. The smallest movement is followed by agonizing pain. I have a high pain thresh hold and this is reduculous. I can't even stand with out being helped up. This is worse than taking shrapnel to the body and head. I'm speaking from experience too.

I was in so much pain with mine that the doc had to put me on morphine. The oxy wasn't enough anymore.

When I was young I broke my hand when I was fuckin around with my friends. The next day my mother took me to my local health clinic. The 2 big ass Drs that owed the place had to reset the bones on my hand. They stood on both sides of the table and pulled my hand towards themselves. I was screaming, so im sure everyone else in the clinic could hear me. They were able to get it aligned after a couple times pulling and X-raying. Then they put a fiberglass cast up to my elbow, to immobilize it. They offered to give me Vicodin or Codeine, but my mother, who was in the medical industry herself, told them that I didn't need it, and that it would just make me constipated. So they sent me home and told me to ice it if it hurt. About an hour later it started to swell and the pain got worse and worse. My mother said ice it and I tried to, but fiberglass, the material of the cast is one of the best insulators. Thats why they use it to insulate homes. So it didn't do shit. I took Tylenol, aspirin, ibuprofen and that didn't to anything for the pain. I then told my mom to contact the clinic and tell them I needed something for the pain. For whatever reason she must have felt embarrassed for not getting it the first time and she told me she wouldn't. I then started to get irritated and said I will call if she doesn't, so she actually went to my grandma's got a bottle of Vicodin, that she never used and gave it to me. I thought WTF, you will break the law, but cant tell the Dr.s that my hand was in a lot of pain from them resetting it. I have experienced a lot of people on numerous occasions in the medical field act goofy, because they are not qualified to treat pain, or they lack the knowledge to properly treat their patients. I wont stand for the mistreatment of my body and I will see a different professional if I feel I am not being treated properly. I will go to the ER and make my insurance cover the cost, if they set me up with one of those butchers in the medical industry.

I remember you writing about your hernia when it happened. Sorry that you're having to go through this. Give it time and be patient. Best of luck to you!

Sounds awful. Bro, just call your doctor and get more or better meds.

There has been a lot of discussion recently in the news and the medical community about overprescribing narcotic pain meds, and I think doctors are running scared and under prescribing instead.

I just had my broken foot operated on and my doctor did the same thing. Prescribed low dose Vicodin only.

Really? That dude cut a 6", a 4", and a 1" incision in the top of my foot, ground the bones down with a dremel, drilled into my foot bones with an electric drill and installed several long- ass screws and a few metal plates, and only prescribed as much pain medicine as I usually get for a fucking toothache?

When the nerve block wore off it was agony. I called the doc, and he very reluctantly prescribed something stronger. Good thing cause I was considering smashing his foot and see how he liked it.

Well you know what would really help about now is how to avoid this? Sounds awful brother..

I feel your pain on that one. I had one done myself in 2007. Very painful recovery was off work for 3 months and out of the gym for about a year because of fear to tear again. Did they open you fully or were they able to scope it?

Damn. I have a small one and have been putting getting it repaired off until the fall when I'm less active...
You haven't given me much to look forward to ;-(
Did you get the mesh put in or just stitched?
