+ 3 hematocrit and hemoglobin levels in AAS users

ad

In all the research i have done over the years , the one thing i never knew about until recently is that useing gear can elevate your hematocrit and hemoglobin to dangerously high levels, and if you have any heart condition like me such as atrial fib, that can be very dangerous. AAS boost the production of red blood cells. My doctor told me that i have the blood of someone who lives in very high altitude, my blood is very thick. This can be dangerous to people without heart conditons. if you start to go above a 50-52 hematocrit level you are getting too high and need medical monitoring. So far the only thing i have found that you can do to correct the problem is to give blood, and from what i am hearing you need to give double red blood cells in the donation.
This is just something i was never aware of before and wanted to pass along this information to try and help keep you guys safe, make sure you get regular blood work done on your cycle to check these levels and make sure your stay within healthy range. if anyone can add to this i would love to hear it,

eastcoastmuscle's picture

Does anyone know why they make you wait 16 weeks before you can donate double red cells again?

WhyNot's picture

To give your body enough time to recover. Not trying to be a smartass........ but that is the answer.

eastcoastmuscle's picture

It really takes 16 weeks to replace what is taken out of your body when u give double red cells? I can't donate again until June and I think I am going to be sky high with my numbers by then .

Brother i am in the same boat. I have been self TRTing and now have my injections down to 120g's of Test a week. I feel this is my sweet spot since my blood pressure finally went down, but i also did a double red and have to wait till the middle of august. I have already been feeling like i need to give and i hope its not over the cutoff level of HCT of 59. I am curious what yours ended up being when you gave blood.

WhyNot's picture

I know a lot of people that have donated regular donations within three weeks of one another ( don't ask how they did it) and they don't do well. They get headaches, not an overall sense of well-being, and it usually takes two weeks to get back to normal. Again this is not for everyone but that is what I've seen with the overall majority.

CBBurrr's picture

What compounds are extra harsh on RBC's? It looks like EQ is bad, Any others that are known for being worse than your basic Test?

CBBurrr's picture

At the end of my 12 week cycle I gave blood, they used a finger prick test to check hemoglobin and I came in at 20.1. The cutoff for donating blood with this charity was 21.5. At 4 weeks post cycle my level was 19.7, and at 6 weeks post cycle it was 18.7. I donate blood again next week and hope to see the level drop some more.

Pre cycle I was at 17.5

CBBurrr's picture

gave blood today and hemoglobin came in at 18, blood was flowing much faster than the last time I gave blood with a 20.1.

WhyNot's picture

Try to get it under 17, at 16 would be ideal for you.

WhyNot's picture

Check your multi-vitamins as well as the food that you ingests for iron fortified food. You should avoid iron fortified food and/or supplements. That won't solve the problem but it will help.

CBBurrr's picture

You are absolutely right on that point! I'm gluten intolerant and got carried away with my chex cereal intake last year, my iron saturation level went through the roof! I make sure my rice cereal is unfortified and take a mens multi.

White Bolt's picture

I can confirm I have high RBC, hemocrit, and hemoglobin levels. I give blood every 8 weeks combat this.

CBBurrr's picture

Whats the highest you;ve seen your hemoglobin level?

White Bolt's picture

I just gave a pint of blood today after giving blood last 8 weeks ago and my hemoglobin levels were at HIGH at 19.0 g/dL -- they told me the cut off range for hemoglobin to donate blood was 18.9. Luckily I was still able to donate (barely).

Hemoglobin values in healthy people usually fall within the following ranges:
Men: 13.8 – 17.2 g/dL
Women: 12.1 – 15.1 g/dL

It seems when even donating blood every eight weeks my levels still come back high.

I should also add that I have been running EQ at 800mg/w for the last twenty weeks. This will be the last time I will use EQ due to the marginal gains to high blood count ratio.

eastcoastmuscle's picture

i donated about 4 weeks ago and my levels just barely came in under normal from, a blood test i did last week, they are probably going over soon. i am going to have to try and donate again... if they dont let you donate bec levels are too high, do you have to find a doc to do blood letting? sp

WhyNot's picture

it is called a therapeutic phlebotomy. in most places it's very simple. You get a script and then you go donate. The problem is how you ask your healthcare professional for a script? if you are on TRT under their care is not a problem if you are just asking out of the blue they are going to suspect a whole bunch of other problems that you might have and then you just now opened up a whole can of woop ass on yourself................ and don't ever admit AAS usage to a healthcare professional it goes into your permanent file that will follow you to the various insurance companies.

There's always the option of a self phlebotomy if options are not present.......... for example if you're traveling in a country abroad......... or whatever other reasons.......... that is beyond the scope of this post.

eastcoastmuscle's picture

i am going to do this in a few weeks, last time my blood got so thick from being on a cycle, i was having heart palpitations and all kinds of problems, they thought i had atrial fib but it was all because these levels were so high , when everything dropped , my body went back to normal.. i truly believe this is a big hidden danger to newbies especially, who probably know nothing of this issue. i have ran many cycles and never knew till just recently about this, although im sure some people never have a problem with it.

HailRazor's picture

My RBC was about where yours was before I started donating blood. My doc recommended an aspirin daily. Also, because of the high RBC level, my blood viscosity was extremely thick. So thick that the nurse used a 16gauge needle. She said anything smaller and I would have been there for an hour waiting to fill the bag. The blood had a brownish sludge tint to it when it first came out then changed to a purplish/red color by the time I was finished. It was past time for an oil change.

eastcoastmuscle's picture

How often are you donating now ? Are they able to use the blood we donate when it's that thick? You would think they would flag it as abnormal when they see how thick it is.

HailRazor's picture

I thought that too. But they took it. They call me to come donate more when it's time. Im not sure if they put the blood through some type of process or just throw the unusable blood away.. I also have a rare blood type so they like to see me donate. Bloodwork in general is the smart thing to do. It's good to watch that RBC especially when running a compound like EQ.

CBBurrr's picture

I agree. I was even alerted to the fact the my precycle numbers were on the high side by Mega. He suggested I give blood pr cycle, but I waited till the blood drive came to town at the end of my cycle.

I'm lucky I did not suffer any major consequences, just some headache and muscle aches. Could have been much worse.

I will be watching those levels while off cycle as well, and become a regular blood donor..

WhyNot's picture

"although im sure some people never have a problem with it."

Pretty much everyone has a problem with this it's just that some people tolerate the symptoms a lot better. It's like testosterone and estrogen. Not everyone will have Gyno at 700 mg a week but that doesn't mean that E2 isn't elevated.

eastcoastmuscle's picture

yea thats exactly what i was getting at... i am pretty shocked that i hardly ever see this topic mentioned anywhere.

WhyNot's picture

I've been saying this on here since I joined. Everyone that does AAS should donate blood. Not only is it healthy for the person but it's a good thing to do for your fellow man.

NoPain's picture

I have high RBC but normal hematocrit and hemoglobin levels. I always read that the hematocrit is the level to worry about but what happens when your RBC is the only thing that is elevated?

I was diagnosed with low iron so I believe that's why my crit and globin are normal but the cycle I'm running obviously has my RBC throwing a party in my veins.

I'm in a tough spot. I shouldn't give blood due to my low iron, which I started taking suppliments for 2 weeks ago. However, if my RBC is a concern I evidently need to drop the EQ, drop the cycle all together or give blood and keep taking my suppliments. I have another month for the cycle. I'd hate to drop it now.

WhyNot's picture

why can't you just do a therapeutic donation?

NoPain's picture

That's what I would have to do but my iron was/possibly still is low. I started an iron supp just over a week ago so they may not even allow me to donate if my level is still low.

WhyNot's picture

You should be fine

NoPain's picture

Should I do whole blood or double red? My RBC is 6.66. I'm thinking double.

WhyNot's picture

Whole Blood.

HailRazor's picture

I do double. I was told by the nurse that the RBC should drop 1 point with each blood donation session so giving blood on a regular basis is good.

NoPain's picture

Double will certainly drop the point more than whole. I'm just worried about the more blood I give, the lower my already low iron gets.

WhyNot's picture

Thats why I said Whole............go slow and then you know how your body reacts.

NoPain's picture

Ok, thanks bro!

WhyNot's picture

Sure thing. Smile

CBBurrr's picture

i just gave blood yesterday, they took out 500ml of whole blood. My hemoglobin level precycle was 17, and at the end of a 12 week cycle it had gotten up to 20.1. My blood was so fuckin thick they had trouble keeping it moving through the tubing. Feel great today!! I'm also living at a very high altitude, so my blood was getting the rbc double wammy.
I'm gonna donate every time the blood bank comes to town, at least until my RBC, hemoglobin, and iron saturation levels all drop down to mid range.

eastcoastmuscle's picture

Sorry for bumping an old thread but i am concerned about this issue again as i am back on cycle, does anyone know the exact type of blood donation i would need to ask for in order to make sure i can thin my blood back out... last cycle i ended up in hospital because these levels were so high from my AAS use, it was giving me trouble with my heart. is it def double red?

waterhead235's picture

I just gave blood last week and it was the double red blood cell donation, that's the one you want. Just remember to lie about needles or anything else that might keep you from donating.

T_luva's picture

Been on TRT for about 6 years now, an easy give away for me when RBC is high, I feel tired and sluggish. I'm fairly light skinned so when my color gets a reddish tint or hue, chest, shoulders.... all over basically, it time to donate. I try to go a least every 60-90 days. Give life brother ;-)

HailRazor's picture

Are you giving blood or doing blood letting? Can you donate blood if you are on test or AAS? My RBC is 55.4. I need to go change my oil. Smile

Kronos's picture

Do you feel any sides ,because of raised RBC? Maybe numbness in the legs while sleeping or headaches. After 50.0 RBC it is recommended to take a 81mg aspirin at night to prevent strokes or heart attack. Just to be in the safe side!!!

HailRazor's picture

Yes. I really need to give some blood ASAP

Kronos's picture

I used to take EPO to raise my RBC level for racing purposes(Full and 1/2 marathons). When I started reaching 50% the team doctor recommended taking 1 aspirin at night (sometimes took 1 in the morning). Also we drank a lot of water to avoid dehydration, which most of the time the complications starts when dehydration occurs. Good Luck Buddy!!

HailRazor's picture

Thanks my man. I recently did bloods and my Doc recommend that plus give blood or blood letting. I've done a long cycle of EQ and I'm guessing that's what got it so high. I need to get this poison out!

T_luva's picture

Had to google "blood letting", wasn't sure what that was. I go to the local Red Cross, or a blood drive and just donate whole blood. There is a question about steriod use during the setup process, something like, "Have you injected steriods or anything NOT prescribed by your doctor" of course I say NO. In my case thats true, but I wouldn't feel bad about a lil white lie, shit bro, your saving lives here! Plus, anyone that gets your blood is gonna feel like Iron Man, right? LoLoLoLo

eastcoastmuscle's picture

i wonder if they would feel really good from the boost of testosterone in the blood they got from a donation?

HailRazor's picture

I think they test and extract all the bad shit. At least I would hope so

T_luva's picture

hehe... dunno, maybe. Let me add, this last time I donated, the chair next to me was used twice, meaning 2 ppl came in and were gone for the time I spent in that chair, roughly 30 minutes. Just giving you an idea on how thick n sticky plasma can get while on AAS. I told them to stick the other arm to act like a choke and lemme get the fuck outta here... lmaaaoooo

HailRazor's picture

LMAO!!! Mudda Frikka! Here...take my toxic sludge and save a life!
