If you have kids, do you ever think they know?
ad
Hey guys, just wanted to see if anyone else has had any weird questions or comments from their kids. Tonight, in fact just a few minutes ago, my 12 year old daughter comes running in the kitchen looking concerned and says, " dad I just heard on the news that testosterone injections can give you a heart attack." A bit taken back, I paused and said, "well I'm glad I don't do that." She then gave me the evil eye and walked away. She's a pretty mature young lady for her age so it made me uncomfortable and I felt like a bad parent wondering if she knows!! Anyone else have any issues like this and how did you handle it? just curious.

you should have told her that you can't believe 90% of what they say on the news...lol...
Good thought!! Lol
Kids...I have 3. And they r so smart. I'm sure they know. But, I keep mine locked and hid. I just wouldn't want them to ever see it. Dad's r ur kids heroes. U know. N most cases. My dad wasn't. The other day my wife was gone. The kids and I were watching movie. My 6 year old daughter starts crying. And told me. She never wants mommy and I to split.
Shocked me. BC wife and I r n love and happily married for 10years. My daughter said, I just love my family so much.
This is from a six year old girl. I was amazed. It was like talking to an adult.
56tooI have a really hard time holding back anything from my son. He's a teen so there definitely is a difference between discussing gear use with a teen and a 6 or 8 yr old. I just sat him down one day and explained it to him. He's totally cool with it. If you let the media explain it you would look like a mass murderer so I figure ill tell him how it REALLY is.
My kids are exactly like that too!! I have 2 and we are a very tight little family.. They would be crushed if the wife and I ever split.. Been together for 23 years so I don't see that happening..
23 years. Wow...that's awesome man.
Thanks for all the responses. For now she hasn't said anything else. She is a very smart young lady, but at her age I don't know if I want to or need to share my personal business yet. Do as I say not as I do... Lol if she brings it back up we are going to have a heart to heart about about the issue. Because my kids mean the world to me and the last thing Id want is for her to lose trust in me ! Thanks guys..
It is funny there is no college or schooling for parenting I keep learning more everyday. Post like this make renew my own diligence with my children. Good post buddy!
56tooIsn't that the truth brother? To me parenting is the hardest thing Ill ever do and yet so vital to our children's future and well being.
Yeah and the older they get the harder it gets .. Lol
Lol! We think they are still 3 young and naive to what we do and say. In our underestimation we still think we are talking over there heads.
I catch myself doing that all the damn time!! Then she catches me and I feel like a jack ass! Lol
I would probably tell her that when using testosterone prescribed by a Dr they take everything into account. Maybe ask her (do you think I'm on testosterone) then explain TRT to her. Some honesty is better than a blatant lie. Our kids are smart I have a 16yo daughter who is literally a genius. Lying is not much an option with her just as whole truth isn't either. Giving them a TRT explanation is also helping her trust in you. By lying will tell her that if she smokes a joint or gets drunk it's ok to lie to you.
Too young to notice and differentiate the source of gains, but I am sure it will be a topic to discuss one day. When that day comes it will be along the lines of "some activities, when done safely and well educated are acceptable when you are an adult..."
My .02 brother is tell her one of two things. Say what dad & mom do is our business if we want you to know we will tell you but you are not entitled to know everything. On the other hand since we support you in every way that doesn't apply from us to you until you are out on your own. Or sit her sown and explain to her what and why and that you are well versed in what is good and bad for your health and one TV moment cannot define the whole story on testosterone usage. Because a lack of it can make you ill as well.
But when she finds out you lie you will lose all credibility for the important shit in life. I told my older children unapologetic and the day i need them for something is the day i will give an accounting of my choices
my 12 yr old son and 16 yr old daughter know im on. although they arent aware of the extent, they know i am on medically prescribed trt. so this conversation is something i have had with my oldest 2 a few times. i approach is cautiously and intelligently.
In an uncomfortable moment last summer my son heard my wife and I talking about MT2, he gets these white non-pigmented spots on his back and burns easy in the summer so naturally he asked why he couldn't have some. That took some splainin...
I heard one of my daughters friend ask her why I'm so big. My daughter laughed and said "because all he does is eat and lift heavy weights"
Lol... That's awesome and true
56tooShe knows bro, she knows. Kids know more than we give them credit for.
X2... She knows. Kids aren't dumb. I used to find out all sorts of shit when I was a kid. She probably heard you talking about it with your wife when you didn't think she could hear. I used to go through my parents dressers, and search for my Christmas presents all the time. Kids are sneaky. I know I was.
56tooLMAO I remember sneaking in my parents closet for christmas presents too. I even use to find my dad's porn books so I could get off on them when I was 11 lol. I once found a big dildo in my dad's closet that had a handle on the end of it where you would turn the handle and the head would move around lmao. Amazing the shit I knew that they had no clue of
Holy shit .. Lol..I hate to say it, but I found all type shit searching through my parents room being sneaky too. Including a dildo like you did.. Haha that's funny shit.. Glad I got my shit locked in a safe..
That what I'm afraid of! Just gonna have to be real careful !
im more concerned with the fact she heard that on the news
I caught the tail end if the report. Basically in the Us there has been like a tripling of testosterone product prescriptions over he last X amount of years. Apparently during that time there has also been an increase in cardiac events. I'm sure this trend is multifactorial. They had a cardiologist on there who basically said we are not sure if there's a link more studies need to be done. Which has basically been the story about hormones for decades. So to me it's probably a bit of hype..
I believe absolutely not even 1 sinlge word of what comes out of mainstream media...there are so many studies that prove the importance of testosterone replacement in men to support their overall health, especially heart health. In fact my ex's cardiologist prescribed the test. If there is an increase in heart attacks it has nothing to do with test replacement, of course it has nothing to do with all the poisons they put in our air, water, food, vaccinations, BPA in plastics, etc. nothing!! smh don't get me started.
I totally agree ! Like I said it has to be multifactorial . For instance, if there was an increase in cardiac events I would also like to know what other health issues these men had. I bet the weren't gym and diet freaks like most on here. Probably low T patients with comorbid obesity, diabetes, hypertension and high cholesterol ! They love to pick on hormones.
well at least we're the wiser!
I am pretty sure mine know. GH for sure... Our house isn't that big, so I am sure they have seen some evidence. They are teenagers, they also know I have always been responsible so I think they trust that I won't do anything too stupid.
She's at a tough age for this conversation. All you can do is acknowledge that you heard that too, and try to let it go. My youngest son, (now grown) is pretty astute and athletic. I am sure he knows the deal, but it's a don't ask/don't tell...yet if he asked I would disclose to him. But he is at an age where loose lips are not an issue.
I don't envy you on this one.
BigBmajI'm pretty honest about it. My son has walked in on me giving myself a shot and he didn't even ask. He's just grown up around it. I tell him I have a script from the doctor so he doesn't worry so much. I don't give anything too much power by hiding and lying about it.
AnonI've thought about that day. My kids are still too young to know (8 and 6) but I've often wondered about what to say when that happens. My son who is 8 says he wants to be big like me and tries to work out with me and I just can't help but wonder in the next 6 yrs I will obviously get bigger and by that age he will surely have suspicions. Maybe just tell a white lie and let her know that it is prescribed by a dr and you are under medical supervision
I was thrown off for a minute, but honestly this wasn't the first time she has eluded to this.
