Need some advice on working nights
What is up bros and broets.
I need some help, my job switched my work schedule to night shift. I work 3 on 2 off, 2 on 3 off and they are 12 hour shift. My question is what is the most effective way to maintain a regular workout routine? I haven't worked nights in 8 years and I am fucking tired all the time. I get home at 830 in the morning and in bed by 9 am. I sleep till about 3 pm but it does not feel like it is enough.
Also my eating times are fucked, I eat dinner when I should be eating breakfast and breakfast when I should be eating dinner. Does this matter that much or am I making a big deal out of nothing? I have been planning on doing my first cycle of test e in February or March but should I even bother with this change?
If anybody has any suggestions on how I can make this transition a bit easier I would appreciate it, even if it is to just man the fuck up.

Thank you for the recommendations everyone. this is why i love this site, you get good advice from people who have experience. again thanks for the suggestions
I work shift work. 12 hour days, Switching from days to nights then back again. When I'm on nights I'll be off work at 7 so I'm asleep by 8-830 and back up for the gym at 2-3. It'll take some time but your body will adjust to less sleep. I also have a harder time eating night shift still but you just have to force feed. Good luck
AnonI worked nights for about a 6months, at first I hated it, couldn't get to the gym or eat right until I got my shit on a STRICT regimen. After that I loved it.
I worked 10hr-14hr "days" from 6pm to 6am sometimes 6-8 or if I was lucky 8-6 so I had to fight to get time in there. This would be my every day schedule from head up to head down..actually I'll start at work.
600pm I'm at work, I eat 3 times over my 14hr shift and snack inbetween. My job allowed that flexibility in eating schedule as I ate while I worked.
600am I'm off work and by 630 at the gym
730am leaving gym and grabbing something to eat
900am I'm showered and in bed
NOON wake up and grab something to eat
1230pm back in bed
300pm wake up and head to the gym, sometimes fasted sometimes not
330pm At the gym again
445-5pm out of the gym, showered and grabbing food on the way to work
6pm back at work and the cycle continues
BTW throughout the day I would get extra food to take with me to work. So If I had chicken for lunch I would double it and save some for my midight snack. Also had a pile of RTD protein shakes, I think at one point I had 12 cases of muscle milk stacked in the corner of my room.
That was my life. Great times.
I should mention I had ZERO personal responsibilities, no family life. I had no hobbies except the gym and was as single as it gets. My only task in life was to work, lift and eat. With a family it would be near impossible to have a decent schedule.
This sounds good, thanks bro.
It's hard bro. My work schedule shifted from days to midnights mid cycle. It really messed up my diet and rest. I know I didn't quite maximize my cycle because of it. If I had any suggestions it would be to get your diet and rest dialed in before beginning the cycle. Im still on cycle and reaching the end and not completely figured it out. Ive come to the conclusion that I just dont like midnights.
Same, I've been working nights for almost a year now. It was really tough at first but once I settled into a newer sleep cycle it wasn't too bad. The key for me is that I keep the same schedules(for the most part) on my days off so I'm not constantly readjusting when I have to start my workweek again. It'll take some time but you'll get used to going to bed at 4PM everyday, just don't expect your body to adjust in a week. .
I worked overnights for 5 years and kept my schedule the same. For example when you work the day shift you go to the gym after work or you go home. You don't go to bed after work.
So let's say you worked midnight to 8am, you would go to the gym then home eat and spend time with your wife like around 4 pm go to bed wake up like at 10-11pm and head to work.
If you like to work out before work go to bed like at 2pm wake up like at 9pm go to the gym then head to work. Eating is the same when you wake up eat 4 hours later eat then 4 hours later.
Again this is what worked for me
Thanks for your help. I should have posted the hours I work 8pm-8am. I am willing to try anything so i get back to feeling right.
